An Overdue Update

That voice of Figment is actually very strange in the new version. Then I realized why. Take some audio from a recording of the ride, slow it down, and guess who you get?

Its Gonzo from the muppets. Try it yourself, you'll be so surprised. Who voiced that character?

Dave Goelz... Yeah, I've got some slowed-down recordings of it from back when this newest version was, well, "new." Very easy to tell that it is in fact the voice of Goelz aka Gonzo.

I'm sorry, maybe I'm the one that is weird here, but it kind of blows my mind that you guys took the time to try this. Good info, but you guys got way too much time on your hands... :lookaroun :D

I wonder if the voice of Figment will be recast again to someone closer to the original, or whether the voice of the current Figment will be used again.

I will miss Honey I shrunk the audience, I still do love this attraction, I know some of the technology is out dated now but I enjoy the story.

Bring on the new Journey into Imagination attraction though! :animwink:
Yeah! Me too i want to see the new Journey into Imagination and a 3-D too.:sohappy: OH! What is the name of a new 3-D Movie.

The layout change has come about because an overview of guest behavior showed that many guests only visited one of the attractions at the Imagination! pavilion rather than both. The layout change will hopefully allow guests to visit the second attraction after they ride their first. We expect this will result in the same boost that "Soarin'" brought to "Living with the Land."

Excellent! To me every Epcot "Pavillion" should use the "Land" Pavilion as a template. It is what I call a "matured" pavilion. It has an A Ticket (Food Court), a B Ticket (Revolving Restaurant), a C ticket (Lion King movie), a D ticket (Living with the Land) and an E ticket (Soarin'). It is incredibly self contained and complete. This is why it has become so popular. It also has attractions that will either always be timely (LWTL) or can easily be updated (Soarin, Lion King). It is an amazing pavilion and should be the model for all future pavilions at Epcot! I find it interesting they left the simulators in place at the WoL. Seems like they would make a great D ticket if the "Space" pavilion is ever expanded! "Journey On Mars" anyone? If every pavilion was in the model of "Land" there would be huge crowds but they would be dispersed throughout all the pavilions better. The Seas is getting close to this model. Just needs an E attraction.

Wow, more refurbs? Fantastic! I love this. The parks are ALL finally getting some love. It really is about time!

Thanks for the new scoop!

I'm bummed about the HM news, but oh well ... and I second the question, are they still going to try and do a different ride during the day and at night?

I also agree about The Land but it's always SO crowded in there. I find it horrible going in there, lol!

The changes in the imagination pavilion sound interesting. I have only been on the current figment ride, and I am not a big fan of HISTA.

I would love to see the rainbow tunnel if it still exists - I have only ever seen photos of it on these boards.

I also hope that they keep the jumping waters - I love them. I saw them on TV when I was about 10 and always wanted to see them, but I didn't get to go to Epcot until I was 30!

Don't worry, I am sure they will keep the jumpin waters. They are everywhere now and they don't smell funny. Unlike the jumping "megafountain" nearby:p

I'm confused: the current ghosts that pop out at you are not scary enough after al these years, but during the refurb, the new faces were to scary, so now they don't move at all?

So it's a matter of having a static scary face as opposed to a moving comical one? Give me the moving one any day of the week.

And is there any difference between night/day versions

Thanks :D

Hmmm... Interesting.

The JII project sounds huge - far greater than I`d expected. Unless they are going to route the queue through the existing entrance and double back in a new structure to the exit, this has to be the end of the fountain garden, sadly. I`m asuming there will be a preshow still - it`ll need a new theatre - unless they are going the whole hog and swapping the theatres round / making the preshow theatre larger and moving the wall - a huge feat considering the motion base installed for HISTA. Intriguing.

Here we go again:

- Typhoon Lagoon CMs, you should be getting the details on the new expansion adjacent to Crush where the "boneyard" is located and where the fairly new basketball court is located. The last I heard, this will become official in late August / early September. Construction should begin in November with the major work being done in the scheduled two month refurbishment.

The ride concept is one in which guests will grab a single rider float, and ride a conveyor to the top of the attraction. From there, guests will be dropped into the start pool where they will either paddle (hands and feet only) to the slide of their choice (three slide options), or they will be bounced into a slide by the continuing flow of riders behind them. Once riders go down the slide, they will be dumped into a secondary pool in which they have two slide options that they can either paddle to or be bumed into. Finally, guests will arrive at one of three final pools in which they may once again choose, or be bumped into, one of two slides. The final slide segments (of which there are three) feature themed, special componenets. One is a modified funnel drop, one is a ride through a themed structure by way of water-jets, and the other is half-pipe in which water-jets push riders up the sides of the half-pipe walls.

If the it happens exactly the way it is described here, I think it would be awesome!:D :sohappy:

I'm assuming the end of the slide will be like those new attractions at other water parks, like Shclitterbaun, where guests ride a boogie board and can do tricks on a sheet of water that simulates surf.

I was thinking that that was the only water thrill ride Disney Water Parks were missing now that they have the Crush 'N' Gush water coaster.

I'm so excited if they add this!:sohappy:

The pop-up ghosts are now gone in the Haunted Mansion attic scene. Unfortunately, the new ghosts were deemed too frightening because they "lunged" towards the vehicles. Although the plan had been to have their heads turned to a more comical face during the day, and only after dark have them turned to a more frightening face, the decision was made and that is that. You will be able to see these props in the graveyard scene, although they will be stationary and I am unaware of their determined location within that scene at this time.

yet they can have perfectly replicated aliens lunging out of the ceiling and walls at you on GMR

Land clearing has begun at Typhoon. It can be seen at the top of the Crush platform. It doesn't look like a huge area though, much smaller than the space required for Crush.

This does make me wonder why Typhoon Lagoon has gotten 2 new rides but BB has gotten no new rides since it opened. Happy to have new rides at either park - more just curious.

My wild guess is that BB has greater attendence than TL and they are trying to kick up TL a bit to balance the load. But that is just a wild guess on my part.

For the same reason you couldn't have AE. Families don't go to the Magic Kingdom expecting to be frightened. There are certain expectations guests have going into each of the parks, so having a more frightening scene in GMR isn't as big a deal. Plus, the frightening part of GMR has been there from the start. You don't want a guest returning to HM expecting their children to have the same wonderful experience as the previous visit just a year ago and then be scared to death by the new effects.

Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and had nothing new open until Crush 'n' Gusher. Blizzard Beach opened in 1995. I think updating TL a little before doing anything at BB might not be so bad considering TL is six years older. (I would also bet this is the reasoning why TL is getting a couple new slides before any changes are made to BB).

If my memory serves me right and its a little fuzzy these days, BB did get a new ride the summer after it opened and that was Team Boat Springs and they also opened up Melt-away Bay that summer as well since it was delayed for a while. I went like 3 weeks after BB opened that first year and it was alot of fun. I made almost 150 bucks off of the lazy river just swiming along the bottom picking up cash that people lost. Good times those old days were.
