After watching last night? Where have you been for the last month?

 I say that but she's lasted this long...

I came across a little article that gives a possible explanation as to why she's made it so far. If I can find it again tonight, I'll post it. In the end, I think she *needs* to win more than the other two. They are both just about guaranteed a contract with the company associated with the show (the same way that Tamyra got signed). If Nikki doesn't win, I somehow doubt she will be as fortunate since it's her look and style that sets her apart on the show and not her talent. In the real world, we already have someone with an incredibly similar look and an almost identical style that in my opinion is a lot better. Out there she isn't really all that unique so...

<Sigh>It is really sad how closely I'm following this show. I would normally tease other people I know for being so into something like this...

You know, there has been this big stink about them not releasing the numbers on votes people have gotten ever since the Tamyra "scandal" and I was just thinking about that. With the war dialers they are saying that they account for under 50,000 of the votes and that the differences in votes are too high to actually be affected. Well, that may be the case now but back when there were ten people it might not have been that obvious. Last week they said over 14 million people voted which is higher than what it was when it was in the beginning but even at 14 million, divided up amongst 10 people, whoever lost probably had to loose by far less than a million votes. Just something that crossed my mind while sitting here at work...

Also, up to this point, nobody's been really winning because they've never said who had the most votes on any given night. We assumed all along that it was Kelly and Tamyra but we don't know because the only ones they really focused on were the ones at the very bottom... It's still sort of assumed that Kelly will make it past tonight. I feel rather confident that she will but by how much? I mean, they all got a lot of applause last night but she got the most by far. As a matter of fact, Simon even made a joke about it... What I'm getting at is if one person wins this round by an wildly high number say, eight million votes with the next one getting four million and the last one getting two million and we knew those numbers tonight, it would be pretty obvious who would win next week. Even if the public is fickle and changes their mind, it's sort of hard to believe that 4 million people would suddenly change their minds. What I'm getting at is that I thought Tamyra was very good. Obviously she was since she got a contract but that doesn't mean she had a high standing in the votes... For all we know, she could have been fourth in line for a week or two and it would have never come up since they only focused on the bottom three (or two). The same goes for Kelly... I wonder if the contestants are aware of their standing. People have commented that Justin seems conceited. I haven't gotten that impression from "Sideshow Bob" but if he knew he was at the top of votes for one or more weeks, that might be why.... Obviously somebody knows who actually "wins" each week and the exact order that everyone below them comes in at and I think the show would have an entirely different dynamic if it did and probably not a better one... Kelly is the only one there that has never been in the bottom group now. If we had known all along that she had been at the top since the beginning (hypothetically speaking) how many people do you think would be watching both nights every week? Probably a lot fewer because we would make assumptions on who will win... I guess, sort of like we are now. ;)

Justin's not my favorite but the boy can sing. I thought he did really well last night. Even though I am already tired of him...I have to give him his due.

GO KELLY!!!!

Kelly's performance tonight was absolutely amazing.

It's really nice to see how she raised the bar on a non competition night. :)

On subject, I agreed with Simon tonight… and so did America! :sohappy:

It’s kind of funny because with the three of them up there, she sort of looked like odd man out even in the beginning when they were all singing together. The other two looked a lot more.. alive. Maybe it’s because she’s not as good or maybe it’s because she was all too well aware of what had been said about her making it last week… I think she knew the gig was up for sure tonight. It was funny how the other two sort of ducked the question of what would be the right thing and then it gets to Simon and he point blankly says she shouldn’t be there. When they got to the point where they were going to announce, the other two were smiling nervously and she had a y little look on her face with her mouth open and her chin cocked to the side and when they called her forward she did it again…

Kelly, on the other hand. Is there anyone left on the show besides Justin that doesn’t seem to be showing a LOT of favor towards her? Even the two hosts are getting in on the “you’re the best routine.” I think it’s kind of funny but I hope it doesn’t end up hurting her next week. I think it might have it what’s her face had made it this week…

… and to think, I never got into Survivor or Big Brother or Days of Our Lives or General Hospital or any of the others.

I agree, Kelly gets the most attention and favorable cpmments, especially when Simon interrupted Nikki's farewell remarks to say how great Kelly did. I would not be surprised if Simon signed Nikki, he likes her....and she could be happy......3rd out of 10,000!!!!!

I have a frend that lives in LA and has been to some of the shows and he tells me that the person they wanted to win was decided from the first show. Sorry thats what he told me. i'm not that interested in a rigged show.

Not that I don’t think that it’s highly possible that the show could be rigged, I have to wonder why they would be announcing it to a live studio audience and I would have to think that others who had been to “some of the shows” would have leaked this by now…

In any event, I don’t think it would really be in their best interest to rig it in the first place since they really have little to gain for it. They have the first rights to manage and produce all of the people in the top ten if they so choose (as they have already exercised with Tamyra) and with Fox planning full steam ahead for season two, a scandal like that coming out would sure put a kink in the works of one of the highest rating shows they’ve had in a long time.

I severely doubt this. I don't think they're going to spend all this money if they're going to rig a show. Besides...wouldn't that be kind of....illegal?

Unless you are part of the American Idol staff, you can tell your friend to find a new hobby, because I think he's full of it.

This is "show business". Do you really believe in this stuff? I thought Disney fans were able to distinguish between pixie dust and reality. To ease your mind(s) let's just call it "scripted outcomes".

Ok..how about this...If you dont' like what the threads about then don't bother to respond or read. Anybody who does always is going to respond negatively, and I have a realy itchy "report post to moderator" button finger.

Anyways...back on subject......

They say this about EVERY reality or voting show. (As well as every politcal election, HA!)

The point is, who knows really? We all know a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy. *shrug*

Think about it. Who drives the market? The fans. It really makes more sense for the show NOT to be rigged. It's a good way to Find out who will bring in the most money before actually investing in a singer. The winner (and runners-up) have a fan base before even being signed.

THAT is smart business.
