WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO KELLY! And Tamyra, too, D*MN!

The rest-- eh. Nobody else really grabbed me.

I didn't like Kelly's song choice at first but after hearing everyone besides Tamyra I really like it.

Tamyra kicked some major tonight. She was even better than Kelly.

The other 3 really weren't that good. I wasn't too impressed with their song choices.

burt backarack songs!? jeez. I was hoping for something a bit more.....lively....or something.

dont get me wrong, burt is great, and so are his songs. but blah for others singing them.

anywho, I agree. Tamyra, Kelly. My pick for the two finalists. (oh and yes I voted. I am such a nerd.)

but I have to say that nikki's son is absolutly adorable!

Buh Bye Nikki!!!!!!

Yep...with that kind of performance planned for "love song" night...why even bother showing up?

Unless she wanted to go down in flames.

Remember that song selection is key...so if "pop night" happens, don't expect any flashy britney songs, because they have no range...expect more slow ballads and true "music" numbers.

Human Nature is by Madonna... The only Britney song that could probably work is Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman... it's got a pretty nice range.

I'd get into a debate about this with you....but it's pointless with you. :brick:

About Human Nature being a Madonna song? (J/K) Or about NAG's range? I just listened to the CD track, and I have to confess the range isn't there. I was refering to when it is performed live.

On the news here in Miami, Christina was talking about the life on American Idol. She said you are constantly on the go and you don't get time to eat a meal. Also, when it comes down to song selection, they give you a list of 20 songs. Now she says you can pick whatever song you want, but they try to talk you out of it...in other words they kind of decide what you will sing.

Go Kelly!!!!!!!

yeah, it is so sad that I wait every week for this show to be on.

it has been a BOOOORING summer.

anyway, the theme was songs form the 80's and 90's. (bah, 80's). each performer did 2 songs.

tamyra did a patty labelle song, but it was ok. ("new attitude")
nikki did "mary jane" by alanis morissette, and it suited her voice very well.
Kelly did "it's raining men", and did a great job on it.
Justin did a song that he did very well, though I think the girls outshined him. (p.y.t or smoething....I don't remembe the name.)

second round....
tamarya did so much better the second time around, this time with "feel the fire"
nikki also did a good jobon "I'm the only one" by melissa ethridge. again, suited her voice so well.
Kelly did "I surrender", and wailed on it. brilliant.
Justin.....

ok, this one was bad. not his best. he did a michael jackson song "get here". but he did some jackson moves, and a few of his own. he looked redicilous out there, and 2of the 3 judges would agree with me. (RJ and Simon.) It was just a bad parody of MJ, and I think that performance will edge him with Nikki. those two will proabaly be the two bottom ones.

Which is interesting, because both Tamarya and Kelly had strained vocal chords, and kelly said both were not talking before the show to save them any more strain. but they both sounded amazing.

and there you go. my 2 cents. :)

GO KELLY!

oooOOOOooo, I amend my previous statement! Nikki OR Justin could be the next to go. I thought Nikki did very well last night, and I was happy, because I do like her.

Kelly looked like she was in shock after finishing that second song. WOW! Amazing. :king:

Has anyone heard about the people using war dialer to cast multiple votes?.. I guess that I should first ask, does everyone know what a war dialer is? If you do and you've heard about people using them, what do you think? I have something to say on it (what don't I have something to say on? ) but I have to go home now so I thought that I'd throw it out there... BTW, it seemed like Kelly got the best response from all the judges. She was the only one to get a better than ok or good out of all three judges both times. Looks like Tamyra might have slipped a bit.

is it like a repeat dialer? that would be my guess. I guess it isn't too much of an issue, since I don't think tooooo many people would have on of those. and many people vote several times anyway, including my dad and sister. :)

Well, repeat dials are part of what they can do… They are mostly used for hacking and phreaking phone systems. There are two kinds: one is hardware based (a piece of equipment you hook up to your phone line) and the other is software based (runs on your computer and uses the modem). The hardware ones cost a little more than the average person is willing to pay for something they don’t really have much use for and it’s rather hard for most people to find the software ones (especially that will run in a windows environment) since they don’t really have many legal uses. Typically, they can be used to provide denial of service attacks on phone lines or to really make someone mad by having it redial their number every ten seconds. In the case of American Idol, people are setting them up to run for the full two hours that you can call in. In some cases when they are able to get through on the lines at a decent rate, they can account for as many as a thousand votes for one person. Now, according to the people behind American Idol, it hasn’t been that much of an issue up to this point because the number of votes that people have been loosing by has been much higher than what could come from these sorts of calls… I’m guessing what? Like a difference of half a million or something? Well, what I’m curios about is how much of a difference normal calls even make when it’s almost impossible to get through on the phone lines at some points. It seems like unless someone really stinks and a lot of people aren’t bothering to call for them at all, it all has to do with how persistent fans of a particular performer are. How many people when they get a busy signal or an “all circuits are in use” operator recording keep calling till their call goes through? Another thought is that if these systems just keep calling and calling and calling all they would be doing with the people who are getting the most votes would be preventing others from getting through to cast their single vote so it might not even matter that much. In any event, they are thinking about changing the process possibly next week to dialing a number where you have to press a menu button to place the vote to stop the automated dialers. What they apparently don’t realize is that most of the systems that can do this kind of thing have scripting abilities that can get around this by pressing the appropriate keys once the phone is answered. I was just wondering what people thought about it - you know, if it’s fair, if it even matters. They say that there is a clause that gives the judges the ultimate decision if there is any ‘fixing” of the votes but since there isn’t really a limit to how many times you can call and since nobody would be placing a denial of service attack on any of the numbers since all it would be doing is racking up their votes, I don’t think it really matters.
