American Idol Experience failing!?

I think it would have done alot better had Disney installed it 3/4 years ago. Seems odd to put so much effort into a show which some would see as close to peak.

Thank goodness. One of the worst ideas for an "attraction" I've ever seen. And no, I've not "experienced" it but I did have to walk past it. Ugh.

15 out of 239 people on this site's poll for the attraction said they'd be willing to audition. That's hardly a positive thing and I doubt official park figures are much different.

Pumbas said it best. Stage fright without booze is a scary thing for most people and this glorified karaoke bar seems to be running out of steam already.

I'm actually hoping the reaction to this and the new Stitch stage show will send a message to Disney to start trying harder.

I'm SHOCKED this doesn't seem to be catching on

Ever since this has opened, how much have you heard about it on the boards and on podcasts? I don't know exactly what they were expecting with this attraction, but they seemed to be way off here. An updated Superstar Television would have been a huge hit, but whatever. I look forward to seeing the show next month mainly just to be inside of that theater again and I expect it will be the one and only time we'll ever take the time to watch the show.

This attraction holds no appeal for me though maybe my kids will want to see it when we go to wdw in two weeks. But I was thinking that one way to make it more exciting and attract more contestants would be to offer a prize of some real value. Perhaps a wdw vacation package or an unlimited fastpass for a family. For a prize like that even I would try out. Presently their is no incentive to overcome the fear of trying out or rooting for a singer.

I agree. I never understood why they chose to put in an American Idol show way after it's peak. I guess they're learning the hard way with this one.

An unlimited fastpass for a family would be good. It has almost no cost to Disney (other than printing some) but would be a big incentive for people. I would think a WDW vacation package would be a no-go. You would have to award 365 of those a year and I would guess Disney wouldn't want to spend much more on the attraction.

I really like the show american idol (on TV) but at disney world I just dont get it .
Im sure the show is nice but I highly doubt I would enter this attraction unless I have done everything else in the park more then once and I needed to kill time or there was very extrem weather and my poncho broke and the park has sold out all their ponchos and thats if I really have too.

I just dont get it why would I waste vacation time at disney world to watch ppl sing

Well said.

Actually, I think Disney AI is pretty well done, and an entertaining show. While the structure gets old after a few visits, I was pleasantly surprised as to the level of talent in the contestants.

Maybe having (what is it, 4?) preliminary shows with three contestants each is a bit much, remove one show a day possibly?
