Am I The Only One....This Site Is Becoming Way To Negative

It ebbs, it flows. It won't stay this negative. But let's face it, there have been legitimate reasons for fans to gripe. And a lot of questions that are asked, have been asked multiple times over the course of the years. I'm not begrudging anyone who doesn't think to use the Search feature, but at the same time, a whole lot of "what's your favorite restaurant/resort/attraction/character/queuing area/drink/place to watch fireworks/etc" questions have been asked, re-asked and re-re-asked. And lately there's been a whole lot of attempts by WDW to really fleece guests, from ticket increases and changes to giant jumps in the prices of hard-ticketed events, after hours events and so on, while also scaling back on quality. It's noticeable to those of us who are really paying attention and even to more passive viewers who really will go to WDW once or twice in their lives.

My guess is once we have more information regarding the new expansions - more info on Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, more about Avatar, more about Animal Kingdom at night, etc., you'll see more genuine excitement around these parts.

I agree, way to negative. Yes i know its a sounding board and everyone has the right to their opinion. I very rarely read any of the posts anymore because of this reason. I guess its easier to be negative than positive and attitude is contagious.
I love WDW and we look forward to it every year.

Having an opinion that things are not being done right does not mean that person isn't a fan. Visit some sports forums, and you will see a very similar thing. Die-hard fans of sports teams frequently criticism the decisions of the management. It doesn't mean they aren't a fan. In fact, some who are able to criticize are actually the most passionate of fans. Those who blindly accept everything that is done just due to brand loyalty are perhaps not viewing reality.

Yes but to continue your sports analogy, I have heard New Your Yankee fans complaining about the team; but I have never heard one routing for the Boston Red Sox. Our team (Walt Disney World) has been out of the playoffs the last few years and nothing was being done to rebuild the team. I still went to the games and was routing for the home team, but was not real happy with the wins vs. losses. Now management is putting money back into the team and we seem to be winning more and I can see us building for another run at the championship.

The best thing for the theme park industry is competition. It drives innovation and better quality, which is in the best interests of everyone.

An Orlando without Universal would not be good for the consumer.

I don't have a problem with posts that are either too negative or positive. What sickens me is seeing the same people dominating thread after thread, posting in them multiple times a day, and basically dominating the conversation and rubbing their stink all over it. People that post more than once per day in a thread get blocked unless they're truly insiders providing actual facts, not opinions.

That makes no sense. If I post 100 times in 100 threads that Bob Chapek is the evil spawn of Satan, you are free to post 101 times that he's an angel from Marketing Heaven sent to save us from the ghost of Walt.

You've been a member of this forum for 13 years. If after all that time you believe that posts should be rationed to one per member per thread per day, you're either yanking our chains or have some serious issues with the reality of internet discussion forums.

Reality check: there's no such thing as "domination." The number of times any forum member posts has nothing to do with the number of times you post. You're free to "rub your stink" on as many threads as you wish, as often as you like, subject to the forum's rules.

Happy posting.

Umm....what? So if someone replies to you in a conversation, you have to wait until the next day to answer back? Why are you on a message board if you have that logic? People come here to have discussions, not sit there and speak when spoken to.

TBH, there are a few people we could do with less posts from.

I agree that things are negative on this forum. IMO, there is a way to post criticism in a way that is more factual and less emotional. Good and bad, emotions usually come into play and that's when things go south. Unfortunately it's usually the more negative postings that overcome a topic.

I'm more on the positive side and try to find the positive in things (regardless if it's Disney or not). I consider myself a diehard fan of Disney having spent most of my weekends there and don't plan on changing that. I've also always said there are things that I don't necessarily agree with, but that doesn't stop me from going to Disney and having a good time. I make a choice to focus my attention on the good things; this isn't to say that I "overlook" the bad, but I choose not to focus on them.

Disney is supposed to be a place that you go to have fun and enjoy yourself; if all you do is focus on what Disney is doing wrong or what you don't agree with, how could you possibly enjoy yourself?

I've read this forum for years, but only been a member for a little while.

In general I think it's a great forum but the News and Rumours section inparticular shows the frustrations many posters have with the way Disney has been run over the past few decades.

There is however an overriding negativity that comes across from certain respected posters (who we all appreciate for the information they bring) that I think has an overall negative impact on people's perceptions of Disney World.

My biggest annoyance is when posters are keen, almost eager to announce a budget has been cut for a project, as if this is a Disney issue and not something that is replicated in pretty much every company in existence in some form or another. Posters who release such information should think about the effect of the information they release, which in some instances isn't even newsworthy. The affect budget cut talks have is to suck all positivity and excitement out of an upcoming project before you've allowed people the opportunity to judge it for themselves. And that's rotten. Disney and themeparks to me, and I assume many others, are pure escapism....lets not pull all the enjoyment out of every little project and tell everyone how good it could have been, hey?

Not only it can be negative, but some of the users are not respectful of others. Like PhotoDave219 who kind of makes fun of my profile name which is a take off of Saving Mr. Banks. Rule 3: Be courteous and respect your fellow members. And I admit that I have made a few mistakes in the past of not being polite, and I feel bad about it.

To you, theme parks are pure escapism.

To others it is a very serious multi-billion $$$$ industry. My first job in the industry was working on the audio track for Smurf Mtn. at Kings Dominion in 1983. People who have worked in and around the industry for 30 years are going to talk about the product differently than those that visit 1,2, 3 times a year on vacation. But if you want the inside scoop on what's happening 2 years before the DPBlog posts a paragraph about something new coming to WDW, then you'll have to accept that it will come with....opinions.

But even I will admit that sometimes there is so much soapboxing that we should just have a derby.

He fancies himself a curmudgeon. It's his schtick.

Actually, he's practicing for the auditions of the roles of Waldorf and Statler in the new live action Muppet Show movie.

And welcome everyone to WDWMAGIC Forums Amateur Comedy night. Well actually, every night is comedy night here at the forums. So drink up and tip your waitress.

"what's your favorite restaurant/resort/attraction/character/queuing area/drink/place to watch fireworks/etc"

Restaurant - Phil's House of Pancackes and Such
Resort - Tie between, Motel 6, Poughkeepsie or Singita Grumeti, Serengeti, Tanzania...they each are incredibly relaxing and have different things to recommend them
Attraction - Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Character - Spongebob
Queuing Area - Any Starbucks line that isn't full of non-caffeine addicts getting incredibly complicated beverages
Place to watch fireworks - My gold plated on yatch on Lake Michigan
Etc - Can't comment since this is a family forum

I love these threads!

Guess you don't have many posts to read if you blocked everyone. Must be a quick visit.

Many, many moons ago I blocked everybody and I have to use the Force when quoting or else I may be completely off topic. I think that every once in a while there is a glitch and my reply may make no sense, but most of the time I do OK.
