Having an opinion that things are not being done right does not mean that person isn't a fan. Visit some sports forums, and you will see a very similar thing. Die-hard fans of sports teams frequently criticism the decisions of the management. It doesn't mean they aren't a fan. In fact, some who are able to criticize are actually the most passionate of fans. Those who blindly accept everything that is done just due to brand loyalty are perhaps not viewing reality.
The problem I think some of us have is that it is the same posters posting the same things in pretty much every thread that they visit. So it
looks like a lot of negativity, but it's coming from a handful of people. And whose reality are you talking about, Steve? We go multiple times a year, and have a great time. We have great interactions all the time with CMs. I think that Main Street hasn't looked this good in 20 years. Are there issues? Sure, but for us, we don't dwell on it.
Do I think everything is perfect at WDW? Of course not. Is it anywhere near as bad as certain people make it out to be? Not by a mile. People say that NFL sucks, but we completely disagree. It is one of the best themed areas there is. Enchanted Tales with Belle is so much more than a simple meet & greet, but in essence, that is what it is. So much better than standing in a line, and getting a few minutes with someone. You get a story, and kids get join in. Heck, even us big kids get to play as well, as my DW and I were the guards, even when we didn't have kids with us. BOG restaurant has a fabulous theme, and the food for us has always been awesome as well. Both lunch and dinner. 7DMT is an excellent coaster for where it is located - Fantasyland. Could it have been longer? Sure, but it wasn't ever trying to be a thrill ride for coaster junkies. It was a coaster for kids, and we think it excels at that. Mermaid - well OK, that one could have been a lot better, but it is themed well. So you see, I can find something that I don't like, but the area, for the most part, is an excellent addition.
Everyone here is complaining that Iger hasn't done enough for the parks since he took over. Not one person here has really looked at the fact that maybe he had to clean up the
other parts of TWDC first, because they were in much worse shape, and needed the money right away. Now that he has done a lot with other areas, the parks are getting a lot more attention. Of course, the naysayers will poo-poo the idea, but they really have no idea what the financials really looked like in the other divisions. Neither do I, so it's an opinion. But they spout it as if it's a fact, and they attended the board meetings, and know what really goes on. No, they don't.
People claim that they try to bring reality, but the fact is, that it is
their reality, and not someone else's. Just because someone had an issue with a fridge, and wasn't happy about their response, doesn't mean that everyone will get the same treatment. We don't. We reported a scratch on the living room TV in a Treehouse on a recent stay. When I called, I explained that it was OK if they didn't have to replace it until we left, we just didn't want to be charged for damaging the TV. A manager was over in less than 30 minutes with a brand new TV still in the box. It's all in the attitude you have.
