Am I the only one that thinks Limited Time Magic is the lamest promo ever?

I loved the villains party, the pirate day with the special parade and my new framed Jingle Cruise poster that has become my favorite Christmas decoration this year.

For me the promotion was a success. BUT I wish they did more of the smaller giveaways, like the poster. Having that surprise at the end of the ride that day really brightened our day.

It's a brilliant concept, but the execution was offensively bad.

Offensive? I certainly wasn't offended by the promotions I listed and quite enjoyed.

Since I haven't been around WDW for very long, what campaigns have they done in the past makes this one such a flop to some folks?

God bless the "Ignore" button.

The one that got me was "Christmas in July". No characters. No character overlays. No decorations. No special shows. No snow. No freebies. Just merchandise and food you could buy.

When I first heard the name of the promotion the very first thought that went through my mind was...
"So, now along with the lack of attention to so many other things in recent years, they're also gonna' limit the Magic?!?!?!" That's the implication to me, anyway. Isn't Disney supposed to be Magical ALL the time and not on a limited basis?
How the heck the title alone ever got past marketing is beyond dizzyingly laughable.
Anything woulda' been a better name for it...
- Extra Time Magic
- Magical Times +
- Bob

Hurrah! You're new to WDW! Let me be the first cranky old-timer to initiate you into Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Decline.

Behold what previous celebrations looked like. Such as giving away a Chevrolet, every day! This was when Disney was the global pinnacle of service and branding, and WDW it's flagship, and every other company dreamed of being associated with it.

And while sponsors were happy to give away cars just to promote their brand to WDW's classy middle class visitors in EPCOT, that clasy showcase of American industry, the MK held celebration parades that featured carriages pulled by spans of six horses.

Anyone else remember the days when they didn't NEED any promotional events because just going to WDW was the coolest thing in the history of the universe?

P.S. I loved the castle cake. Maybe because it was our honeymoon year. It always brings back sweet memories. :)

I think that parts of Limited Time Magic were lame. I think Disney could have done a lot more for its guests during this, instead it seemed to be opportunities for guests to buy a lot of stuff. Some freebies thrown in every once in awhile would have been cool, not that I can go that often to take advantage of it. There could have been more shows involved too.

Limited Time Magic could have been awesome. Possibilities:

Meet the Rocketeer, Dick Tracy, Roger and Jessica Rabbit!

Haunted Mansion alternate universe guided walk-through for a few weeks, with the doom buggies removed!

Pirates with the boats running backwards!

The old Circlevision shows!

Throwback retro Peoplemover audio!

Don't worry I had my magical dreams crushed the first week on here haha.

P.S. I thought of you last night when were walking past Fulton's
Awww! :cat:

Would I ever pass up any opportunity to name and shame WDW's vandalization of Walt's wife's Florida landmark? No, of course not!

Note, for example, the smokestacks (four - front and back), a churning paddlewheel, proper ship rigging, pleasant surroundings, period signage verus big neon lights, a pleasant colour scheme, and flagpoles - come on, wave that Star Spangled Banner, let me feel I'm in America - because a smokestack and paddlewheel-less concrete crab restaurant that would sink immediately on the Mississipi sure doesn't transport me there! Or anywhere!

Goodness, they need to put you in charge! Pirates backwards would be great! (Maybe I'll just kinda turn around next ride!)
