If they get in line at 9:50, then FP will be closed anyway. If that's their choice to stand in line, so be it. That's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about someone wanting to use the FP instead of not standing in a line for 2 hours, and not being able to because there are none left.

Ok Iguess I see you point but the way I look at it is that once the FP is in your hand it is yours to do what ever you want with. Also to the OP if you feel bad about it there is always ebay.

That's my point. WE don't know how many of those FP's were gone because of "scrapbooking", and it doesn't matter. If there's only a limited amount of FP's per hour, then I doubt that scrapbooking is making that much of a dent in it.

Yeah, I agree. The percentage is probably so small, it's not even possible to calculate. My only point is, if it DID become rampant, it would cause a problem.

It's easy to say "It'll never happen", but remember, everything starts out by just 1 person doing it. Pool hopping, refillable mugs, parking at resorts instead of theme parks. It all starts with just 1 person.

Yea I don't do it I was just saying if they are that guilty there are other ways.

How is that a better way? Now you're making money off of it.

Look, if you get a FP for an attraction and don't make it over there or plans change, honestly, there is NOTHING to feel bad about. If for some reason you end up not having time to use the FP or decide not to and you feel bad about it, just give it to someone who is either waiting in line, or at the FP machine. If you decide to take it home for a keepsake, then obviously you don't feel bad about it, and that's fine too. Nothing to worry about.

I'm not trying to argue or anything, just trying to understand. How is it illegal? Because it is given free, and someone makes money from it? After all, there is nothing on the FP that says you cannot sell it is there? If someone sold a napkin from Cosmic Ray's to a scrapbooking person on eBay, would that be okay? Selling a FP that cannot be used any longer on eBay is not illegal.

I would have a far bigger problem with the number of AAA Diamond Parking Passes that you can buy on eBay for around $10 to $12.

Yes. All FP's say "NOT FOR SALE/RE-SALE".

First, where? Is it on the back? Because it doesn't say so on the front. I am not home right now so I cannot check.

And second, where is it illegal? Just because it may say "NOT FOR SALE/RE-SALE", that does not make it illegal. It just invalidates the FP if sold. That is likely to prevent people from scalping them at the parks. Buying an expired FP off of eBay that may take several days to arrive will not help anyone, and is likely to be bought for scrapbooking. Not illegal. ;)

Yes, on the back.

Yeah, I guess illegal isn't the right word. But I don't know, maybe it is. It's sort of like selling tickets to concerts or sporting events. There's nothing on the ticket that says it's illegal to sell them, yet in many states, it is. Usually copyrights from the performer, ticket broker or promoter that makes it so. I can see FP falling under those same sort of guidelines by Disney.

I can tell you this - A few years back there was RAMPANT selling of good for any attraction fastpasses on ebay. People (most likely, CM's or friends of theirs ) would sell anywhere from 25-200 of them for a crazy amount of money. Disney received a ton of complaints about the practice, and it stopped. So they must have some legal say in how the tickets are handled.

I think it is more of a company policy. I would freak out if I were in the Disney brass and found out that CMs were doing that. But the scalping rules do not really apply here either do they? I mean, if Disney were selling the FPs then they would have the argument that the scalper was taking money away from them, but they are a free service. Of course Disney could also argue that there was some sort of financial gain by them for allowing a FP to be distributed, but that is getting into some real gray area.

Either way, as other posters have said, it is probably just best to get an invalid FP if a person feels bad for keeping a valid one. I don't, and will likely continue trying to obtain a FP from all FP attractions.

Yeah, my guess is that Disney stepped in and stopped it not so much for a financial gain (as you said, there really is none), but because it wasn't right. People used to sell GAC's, refillable mugs, handicapped parking passes - You name it. To their credit, Disney has always done the right thing and not allowed these types of practices to continue.

Now, if they would only step up to the flash photographers.:drevil:

Amen!

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then. I personally, am always at the park before opening. However, I don't think someone who isn't should suffer because another person is using the system for something different than it was intended.

Think about how this would affect the new advance FP system. If people start booking their FP's months in advance just to put them in a scrapbook. Sorry - I don't think that's right. It's like booking an ADR with no intention of showing up and that table not being available to someone else looking for the same ADR.

Well said Captainkidd!:sohappy:

agree!

I guess you are not listening. Some people CAN'T wait in line... and why should they so someone can get a keepsake. That's why they sell souveneers. If I go to the park in the afternoon, and other attractions still have a FP, but Soaring doesn't. I can't go on it. Yes, I have the option of waiting 2 hours... but, knowing someone took a ticket to put in a scrap book isn't fair. The tickets are for saving a spot in line. I know people sometimes have conflicting plans, and I get that. But, instead of taking something you KNOW you aren't going to use... ask a CM for an expired ticket and let someone else have a nice vacation bacause they don't have to stand in line. People shouldn't have to get up to use something that is DESIGNED to be used, not kept on hand. That's not the purpose.

100% agree!:D

Thank you. I don't believe anyone should feel bad taking a ticket and not being able to use it. (although I've given mine away to people in that case) BUT, it's still an honest reason for taking one. There are many ways to get a fast pass that's expired or invalid, that I think you should try to use those resources if you know you will not be using the pass.
