So what's the difference between the "legit" FP and the scrapbook one? Both will mean that you'll end up further down the FP time line and/or in the standby later. Is it really worth getting worked up over?

Someone asked a question... we are responding. She asked our opinions... I'm giving mine. If I don't get a pass because everyone else got one... my loss. But, I don't want to miss it so everyone can have a keepsake. My opinion.

Because 1 is being used for the purpose it was intended for, and 1 isn't.

I don't think anyone's getting worked up. It's just another thread where a question was asked, and there's a discussion going on. No biggie. If we all agreed and thought the same way on everything, the boards would be quite boring.:)

Now, if they would only step up to the flash photographers.:drevil:

Take a page from my book. Get yourself a narrow beam LED flashlight, and when you see these flash idiots, shine the light in their eyes and don't stop for several seconds. If they dare to ask what you are doing just tell them that you are making sure that they get to experience the attraction just like everyone else around them. :D

For people who are not physically able to wait 2 hours, there are guest assistance cards. Fastpass was not designed to be a relief for those type of guests, as there is already a system in place for them. For families with young children, there are rider switch passes. For everyone else, if you can't handle waiting in line, don't go to a theme park.

Actually, FPs are usually a better option then using a GAC (as many times you could have a longer wait using the GAC, depending on the ride). The GAC isn't meant to be a FP.

To each his own!:ROFLOL:
Seriously though, I really agree with you. FP were not meant to be "keepsakes".

Again- you are so right captainkidd! The more disagreements, the better!

Im surprised there are people who answered no. Besides the fact that Disney takes into account that people won't make it back in time, you not returning just means a standby person goes in your place. Also, it's not like you're getting 10 of them. You're getting just 1. No one is going to cry over 1 pass.

I also think it's a good idea. I have a Disney scrapbook. How do I get invalid FPs? Im going to try to collect little things this time around.

100% agree!:D

I agree also. So many people can't stand for long periods, but they don't have to have a scooter, so a fastpass is such a help to them. When someone says that it just means someone in the standby gets to go on in, that doesn't help the people who really need that fastpass. I think it's inconsiderate to get a pass just to have a keepsake and if lots of people are- or start- doing this then we all lose out. I had a ruptured disk and could walk, but standing still caused severe pain. Without those fastpasses, I wouldn't have been able to get on many rides. I would think a cm would be glad to give away some of the ones they take up in the fastpass line after the time limit has passed.

Yeah, I didn't mean to suggest that folks are riled up, my bad.

But if you don't know who's using them correctly and who isn't, then it's not worth bothering with in my mind.

I haven't read the full 8 pages but as an ex attractions cast member here's my suggestion:

Get the required amount of fastpasses you need for your party....so none are taken away from guests that could use the extra ones you get.

Ride using your fastpass...

Tell the castmember you hand the pass to that you would like to keep one for a keepsake, if they are funny about letting you keep it, they will give you one with an earlier time that they know you cannot use for anything but a keepsake! simples and everyone is happy!

Those fastpasses don't just diappear into thin air they go in the trash so why not keep everyone happy and just ask for one of them! :)

ok, here's my 2 cents on this thread...first and foremost each attraction is only allotted so many passes per day, so just getting one for scrapbooking would mean that another person or family may not be able to take advantage of the pass as it's intended, a line place holder, extreme example yes, but you all get the idea. Second, we DO take Gac in place of FP on a regular basis, especially if the guest is able to transfer from a wheelchair and walk a short distance for example, it allows them to traverse the line quickly and enter the boat at a faster rate. Please note here that not all attractions do this the same way, so simply ask the castmember for assistance, it's what we do :D. Now with the new policy in place, you only have a certain window and margin of tardiness allowed so in the event you miss your window, umm, congratulations, you have a suvenier :ROFLOL::ROFLOL:. by the same token, you could always ask the castmember there in distribution to print you a test ticket, they are pretty cool anyhow, with all kinds of writing on em  if not busy at the time we, err I at least will always make time to help ya out...just don't everybody come up and ask at once ...good grief :D:D:D

Obviously this post was designed to start an argument... because it's a pretty heated discussion.

I beg you're pardon ? This was NOT posted to start an argument ! I'm from England, don't get to go to Disney very often and love the world. I'm going on my honeymoon in September and after that wont be able to afford a trip for many years due to the fact that i will have a mortgage with my wife !

I want to collect as many things from Disney as i can for the memories. I'm also planning on collecting the Sorcerers cards too. The fact this thread has got to this stage is by other people, i posted a question and people have responded to it. If i wanted to cause an argument i would keep replying to fuel the debate but if you check, i have not.

They give out more than they actually expect to return; lots of people don't return for various reasons. I don't think you are hurting anyone - but it is nice that you were thoughtful enough to wonder about it (feels rare these days)!

Don't worry about it. :D Arguments get started by comments like that that from that from person. Anyone that wants to fight about this is obviously dealing with other issues than just this. :)
