Yes, there is a 3-legged gator that swims around TSI. There has been pics and videos of him posted on these forums in the past, although I can't remember what thread. Someone had reported that it hangs out around the smoking area across from TSI, and when we were there last Dec. sure enough it was there! We also saw one sunning himself on TSI on another day, but couldn't tell if it was the same one or a different one.

No
we once saw a large gater swimming in Bay Lake near the boat dock in Fort Wilderness. We were leaving the Hoop Dee Doo show. Both boat captains had to remain docked until it left. he was within feet of the dock and surfaced several times for about 15-20 minutes. The captain told us they see them almost daily on the water, but they never really talk about it. She also said the area of Bay Lake is known to be a common nesting area that Disney cannot touch because it is protected. Not sure how much of this is true, but as others have said, this is common in florida.

And this is why this Michigan girl will NEVER camp at Ft. Wilderness:eek:

wow that's crazy. i remember the first time i saw a gator outside of the zoo was in Louisiana. I was in my car seat I'm like mommy daddy i think we need to call the zoo. they explained that this is their natural environment. I'm like oooooo ( you know the feeling that you just learned something that fascinated you at three). i do remember seeing one near Disney but it didn't faze me. unless it came close or attacked me or others, i just let it be.

OK so in other words i should quit smoking.... Before i loose a leg...

Now that would be a good way to quit smoking just throw an alligator into the mix...

Question about gators generally speaking are they non aggressive to adults?

Most people do not look like food to them and if you do nothing stupid they should leave you alone?
Mine you if you have a cat you hate :)

When we were staying at POR in May 2011, they were removing a gator from the river. I also saw on in a pond on the side of the road while we were headed to AK. They are everywhere in FL!

Oh no.. I go water skiing with my family at the Contemporary once a year. Now I'm afraid to get in that water. I'm Floridian, so I'm used to seeig them... but after watching Lake Placid last night, I not too sure I wanna get in that dark, murky lake water anymore :(

Wonder just how many live in the lake there, though strangely nobody has mentioned seeing one from the Ferryboat etc.

Not that it bares thinking about, but I wonder if they have managed to get into the water parks - and no, I don't mean Ice Gator.
