Maybe a Universal reopening isn't as far off as we think? I really can't wait to see what they decide on Tuesday.

"On Friday, Chair of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors Kartheryn Barger announced progress in the Economic Resiliency Task Force’s work on restarting film and TV production. She said the task force had “gone above and beyond” to try and get key sectors of the county’s economy restarted, singling out NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell and Casey Wasserman for their contributions.

Barger said that, on Tuesday of next week, the task force will release guidelines for immediately reopening sectors such as film and digital media and theme parks. Earlier Friday, the same task force’s Sports and Large Venue Entertainment sector, led by Wasserman, sent its plans for the phased reopening of sports and concert venues in the county, laying out guidelines for pro sports and concerts to possibly return as early as July."

That seems really unlikely anytime soon. We will see sports without spectators, but I would be really surprised if concerts are able to return this year.

The science and data in Los Angeles County has changed in the last five days. It's now entirely possible for concerts and sporting events to reopen in July, after the LA County theme parks reopen in June.

Science and hard data can change quickly, especially once crashing tax receipts are tallied. Try and keep up, friend. ;)

Do you think most public schools will be back to normal in the fall? I’ve got two kids in online school now, and while I’m grateful it’s giving them something to do with themselves it’s definitely not normal school. It’s busy work.

But school would be an ideal place for kids to spread this around like they do all their other germs that get brought home throughout the year. And no matter what you try to do to distance the 50 kids all crammed into one class (because with the budget cuts already announced for OR schools due to all of this for next year, that’s likely going to be the scenario) it won’t work. Way too many kids who won’t listen to a thing you tell them to do anyway. Schools have to cut 17% next year here. And they were already severely underfunded and over crowded.

I really don't know. Indoor spaces with large numbers of people are one of the main ways that this thing spreads to begin with.I think you explained the dilemma really eloquently. The only thing I would add is that schools also play crucial roles for low income and working class families in providing lunch programs and child care.

In California, the K-12 schools are returing to the classroom in the fall.

Our local schools are currently considering bringing cohorts of students in for 2 days a week and distance learning for the rest of the week to keep numbers more reasonable.

Universal Japan is reopening June 19.

Both Universal resorts in Japan and Orlando are reopening as soon as they are allowed, not waiting 1-2 months as we have seen with Disney in Shanghai & Orlando (and it's looking like with Tokyo).

Examples of social distanced character meet & greet in Universal Orlando. I'm interested to see how they will pull this off in Hollywood, there's not much space for them to work with (granted many of these don't take up much space).

Raptor Encounter in Universal Orlando, the Hollywood one is much much different (this is more of a meet and greet while the Hollywood one is similar to a show) will we see it in Hollywood?
