All things Universal Studios Hollywood

First, please delete the first part of this comment, it's racist. Brazil isn't a different planet, it's a different country that is going through the same pandemic we are. Plus look at Disney Springs, there are many white people who don't follow distancing rules. There are also travel bans for the foreseeable future.

Now, Universal is operating at 35% of their maximum capacity. Considering a day in January is usually at less than 15% capacity at a Universal Park, and they still see that as profitable (otherwise they wouldn't be opening at all), it doesn't make me think they will be losing money. They will for sure be making much less money than usual, but these are also billion-dollar corporations.
Don't bother, I have tried to explain the capacity thing to people on this thread before, no one gets that the parks normally operate at only a fraction of their max capacity.

You don’t say? Disneyland doesn’t have New Years Eve crowds everyday?

I think you saying “a fraction of their max capacity” is false. A Fraction implies well below half of its capacity.

On an off peak weekday, it usually has about 10%-15% of max capacity and is considered profitable. Granted that will have reduced staffing, entertainment, etc., But still profitable.

Eh, this is one of those shoulder-shrug moments. “a fraction of their max capacity” is one of those vague descriptions that is bound to be interpreted in a number of ways. ( 1/100 is just as much a fraction as 99/100 ).

It's like saying "We're seconds away from disaster!". Sure. We're also technically seconds away from Disneyland's bicentennial. It's just so many seconds that it's silly to refer to time in that manner in this case.

Now, back to USH...

Racist? Really? Brazil is a huge country with many races and ethnicities. Which race did his comment single out?

They were talking about the rude Brazilian tour groups that swarm everything like this each summer

Not the country’s general population

I wouldn't exactly say they're all rude, but the culture is certainly unique. I think there are loads of guests from all backgrounds that I'd consider rude and younger people tend to be the bane of my theme park experiences. Of course, many of the Brazillian tour groups ARE young people. At the risk of generational insults, but an issue clearly is the age group.

Exactly. That was my point. If anything, the comment was "nationalist" perhaps, maybe "proximi-tist," but not racist.

I apologize for prolonging the diversion down everyone's favorite well-worn, perennial sidetrack: Brazilian tour groups!
