All things Universal Studios Hollywood

Well, it would be nice to have something aside from the Studio Tour to distinguish us from Florida.

EDIT: The above comment is my initial thought on the matter, before I imagined that some might contest the statement, pointing to Jurassic World and Kung Fu Panda. I suppose that they are unique, but in that catagory the scale is grossly tipped in Florida's direction. I am still reeling from the speed in which Transformers, the biggest thing to come to Universal Hollywood in years, was casually copied back east.
I can absolutely see your point. Cloning can be annoying. Maybe instead of Pets replacing Shrek in Florida the old rumored villain con/Minions could be it's replacement.

USH is a movie studio first, theme park second.
You're right of course, and I wish that Universal would embrace that more, as they have in the past. As it is they have given themselves over to things like Harry Potter, The Walking Dead and Nintendo. Seeing as that's the course of action they have taken, albeit not my first choice, I would like them to have a robust attraction roster that doesn't appear to be a fun-sized version of the Florida park.

Umm Hall of Presidents? It's literally just the presidents standing/sitting on stage. George Washington and the current president talk. Current occupant aside, what could be culturally insensitive about that?
Not just Florida, it was cloned so fast it opened in another park (Singapore) first.

I know and I understand. It won’t happen though. I’d argue the two parks have different purposes. They were built for different reasons.

Unless DK gets a new game soon that sells over 10 million copies, I wouldn’t be surprised to see those Mine Cart plans postponed in favor of an Animal Crossing ride and/or village. In the last 3 months, AC has skyrocketed from Cult Favorite to Nintendo’s fastest-selling and most talked-sbout IP, temporarily eclipsing even Mario. With over 400 (and counting) plush-able characters, the AC merch possibilities are staggering. The only ride concept I can think of for AC, however, is a Splash Mtn. Style indoor flume ride...

Donkey Kong would have been starting construction very, very soon in Orlando. It’s very far along and more dream for Hollywood than solid plan like it is for Japan and Florida.

Donkey Kong, I believe, was not scheduled to be part of the opening phase of Epic Universe. And since the global pandemic has delayed tbe entire project—possibly by another few years, by the time construction really begins, anything can change.

I’m not saying AC will replace DK, I’m just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if that happened. I loved the last 2 DK games, but they came and went unnoticed by the GP.

I’d be very happy with the DK coaster and an AC Meet n greet/Shop/Brewster’s Coffee.

Donkey Kong was part of the Epic Universe opening, it was only Japan where it was Phase 2. While the park’s construction has been delayed it is not yet being redesigned. A year delay is not really enough time to design something completely different for opening.

I’m afraid it’s going to be more than a year delay. Hope I’m very wrong.
