The ride vehicles...my lord. How atrocious looking. I may not like all of Disney's creative decisions but the ride vehicles of RISE and RAILWAY are at least well themed that looks like a cheap carnival ride car. is that a omni-mover or a trackless vehicle? it looks ugly!

They remind me of these. And yes, SLoP is an Omnimover.

I swear if The Secret Life of Pets is gonna be a better attraction than Runaway Railway then that's a big embarrassment for the imagineers.

It's possible, but honestly I'd be shocked if that came to pass.

For all that can be said about modern Imagineering, I think their success rate has generally been a lot better than Universal over the past five years or so. Universal's dark rides over the past decade have been...mixed at best, I'd say.

Apparently the ride was going to be trackless, but after the The Secret Life Of Pets Sequel not doing well at the box office. It resulted with this attraction possibly ditching the LPS system and changing to an omni-mover ride. At least according to one episode of "Universal Joint" from months ago.

With the pictures we have received so far, assuming these animatronic figures are actually “advanced” as universal described them in a press release, along with the fact that there are 64 of them, while runaway only has a few, which aren’t even full animatronic, it could definitely be possible, along with the fact that everything is fully built out sets, with little to no screens, while runaway relies on projection mapping. Now, runaway railway is still a fantastic ride, however, I feel that Disney relied on the screens a bit too much for it. Anyways, I’ll probably put a review of the attraction out on this thread once I ride it, and I am definitely looking forward to see what universal has pulled off with this.

No they just ended up going with that spot for Nintendo land.

It’s not gonna be better. For one thing, it’s based on a garbage franchise no one cares about. Little kids might enjoy it; it resembles recent Sesame Street dark rides at other parks.

Or even the Madagascar boat ride.

We haven’t even seen the figures in action yet, so therefore it is unfair to compare them to Sesame Street or Madagascar. You can’t really tell how these figures are going to move based off of photos. Also, we already know that there is a fairly impressive audio animatronic snowball in the queue, from this video here

also, judging by that press release regarding the “64 technologically advanced figures,” it seems that universal is proud of these AA’s, and if they were crappy plastic figures like in Madagascar or sesame, I doubt they would’ve released specific information about the amount of figures and motion in them. I say that we should wait until the attraction opens next Saturday for previews, and after I experience it for myself along many others, then we can all make the final judgment, but judging these figures before even seeing them in action to me isn’t very fair.

Also apparently Snowball as a puppet will pop out of the window on the front of the entrance to interact with guests like the Muppets at magic kingdom.

I heard that as well!! I really feel that universal has achieved something fantastic with this upcoming attraction, and I have no words to express how happy I am that this is not another screen based attraction!

I agree! It sounds like the ride will be fantastic. Yes no more screens! It seems like with this ride and the new park opening Universal is relying a lot less on screens and more on AA's and sets.

Good AAs do not make a great ride by themselves (though they sure don’t hurt). I’m sure it will be fine, just like the Sesame Street rides and Madagascar. The main problem is still the theme: Secret Life of Pets Is possibly the most boring, forgettable franchise on Earth, and the ride’s “story” doesn’t sound very promising. It’s as if Disney decided to build an Omnimover ride based on Chicken Little. I wouldn’t care if it had 50 of the best AAs in history, it would still be Chicken Little.

Again, I’m sure it’ll be fine and popular with kids. But a destination ride? No.
