This bit of news from another site regarding Secret Life of Pets troubles/confuses me..

"Virtual Line technology is another component of the experience, designed to help guests maximize their leisure time at the theme park. Guests can access Virtual Line via the official Universal Studios Hollywood app, available for free in the App Store and on Google Play or they can visit the Virtual Line kiosk located in the New York City subway station, situated adjacent to the ride. Both provide guests with options to experience the ride based on the next available times and will be available to guests within the theme park as needed.

Virtual Line complements the ride’s non-traditional queue which invites guests to explore the area at their leisure and freely roam the ride’s corridors—reminiscent of Katie’s NYC apartment building—explore dachshund Buddy’s apartment, Snowball owner Molly’s living room as well as Max and Duke’s apartment, until they reach the ride’s boarding station."

So it sounds like they're doing a virtual line like Rise of the Resistance but then they mention a queue option.. but then call it a "non-traditional" and exploratory type of queue. Which makes me worry that they are simply referring to the former Baker st. (now Pets Place) as something for you to wander around while waiting for your group to be called? Or maybe part of the inside of the building houses a type of play area for folks to explore while waiting? Either way, I am a little confused..

What they are saying is inside the building you will be able to freely roam the apartments until you reach the loading station

>>We’ll finally get to see the hybrid Indominus rex from “Jurassic World” face off against the O.G. “Jurassic Park” Tyrannosaurus rex inside Jurassic World—The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The attraction, which has been temporarily closed since mid-February, is undergoing upgrades. That includes an Indominus rex anamatronic figure, which could be seen while on the ride but hasn’t yet been fully functional.

“The evolution of Jurassic World —The Ride continues at Universal Studios Hollywood as we prepare for the arrival of additional dinosaurs and will be closed temporarily as part of their installation,” a spokesperson from Universal Studios Hollywood said.

There’s no word yet as to how long the attraction will be closed.<<

The Jurassic World version still has the flying Rex, though the room is much darker than before so you really only know he's flying if you know what to look for. I brought it up to a Universal Team Member in casual conversation while buying some JW souvenirs and he said that he didn't know it was a thing and that he had "..never thought to look at the feet." Which makes sense.. a lot of day Guests probably don't really notice because they're fixated where they're supposed to be: on the face and jaws of the creature that's about to try and devour them.

But for some of us who notice the smaller details, it can be a problem and I agree that I wish it didn't look so bizarre with it's feet in midair. The JW change helped a little but I still prefer the Florida version of the Rex which admittedly comes out earlier (thus losing the "surprise") but has fog to help obscure its lower half and builds a sense of dread as your boat floats lazily and without mercy towards it, with Guests knowing there's nothing they can do.

I'll be happy if they can make the T-Rex look like he isn't flying. Is it so hard to build a ledge for him to stand on or fix the lighting so we don't see the entire figure. I think they use to have fog or a curtain under him.

It used to be hidden behind a waterfall created by a broken pipe, only to emerge at the last second. And yes, there was fog in the room as well.

Honestly, I wonder how this will compare to runaway railway, since they’re both family oriented, modern dark ride attractions. I feel that pets will be praised for its use of full audio animatronic characters, 64 of them in fact, since runaway railway doesn’t have as many AA’s as pets will, and most of them are half animatronic half projections. I’m so glad Universal is getting pets, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I really have high hopes for this attraction.
