All things Universal Studios Hollywood

The Universal Orlando app has been updated to include Epic Universe on its interactive map. The map looks great, and leads to a lot of information about the rides, shops and dining.

Great news: it seems all the coasters and dark rides will have single-rider lines.

Great news for everyone except for the odd man out in the party of 3! Haha

As long as I don’t get barfed on, I’m fine with the single rider pairings. I’ve met a lot of very nice people from all over the world that way… for a few seconds of greets n’ goodbyes.

DL Space… yeah, that’s a bit close. Big Thunder’s worse. 😄

lol yeah a bit too close. But they don’t do single rider on BTMRR do they?

My last trip to MK, they were trying very earnestly to keep the line moving, so they were directing every lone rider to sit with an odd number group. Trying NOT to bump into an anonymous seatmate while zipping around the turns certainly adds a bit of awkward stress to the ride experience. 😬

Just watched a FB video with some interesting conjecture on some new additions coming to USH and it seems logical. First and foremost they are adding a new hotel at the park entrance. When I first saw that news months back I remember thinking that it doesn’t really make sense unless they had some big park expansion in the works. Long story short he thinks (and apparently he heard rumors) they re moving the studio tour tram loading area to put in a a hogwarts express that would drop you off where Supercharged is now. Which of course would be connected to Diagon Alley.

I think a Harry Potter expansion is coming but I’m not sold on Gringotts or Hogwarts Express. Gringotts part two 10 + years later would be extremely disappointing as the anchor to a brand new land. Not sure Hogwarts Express is the move considering the drop off station would not only be in the same park but is right down the hill. Would a Diagon Alley with the Ministry of Magic as the main ride make sense? Or the new Porter land with MoM. That would be a good use of the land occupied by Falls Lake. The Potter options or Monsters Land with Monsters Unchained. They ll want to put one of the new show stoppers from Epic at USH. Not Gringotts - a 10 year old ride that most people don’t even like as much as FJ.

FB also mentions that it’s interesting that they re closing Supercharged now even though the FnF coaster won’t be open til next year. Suggesting that it means something bigger is going there. That would be nice but they may just be rushing to get the Wicked atttaction in that show building as the finale for the studio tour to sync up with the Wicked sequel at the end of the year. My question is without the Supercharged building is there enough room in the Falls Lake area for Ministry of Magic or Monsters Unchained and they re accompanying lands. Id have to imagine yes - especially without any of the secondary attractions like Wolfman.

Maybe they plan on cloning the legend of Zelda land rumored for Florida to Hollywood?

Doubt it. Anything going to USH has to be a guaranteed smash hit and huge food/merch mover like Potter or Pokémon considering the lack of expansion space.

As far as Nintendo if they want to expand use the Transformers building. Mummy would then be the odd man out. I would have said put the Dk coaster and mini land there which is kind of simpatico with Jurassic Workd but the ride looks pretty disappointing.

Is legend of Zelda not a big IP? I really don’t know for sure. I’m not a big gamer. I mostly just play Disney and Mario games.

I’m not either but I’d say it probably doesn’t really resonate with non gamers. Not at the level of Potter, Pokémon or Monsters. Seems a little too niche. And where are the big merch / food opportunities?

Don’t ask me. I’ve never played one of those games.

I just now realized I’m living proof of your point. So what do you think it should be?

I’d go with Monsters personally. Has universal appeal. No pun intended. They also currently don’t have any representation at the park unlike Potter. But would also be very happy with Diagon/ MoM or new Epic Potter land/ MoM. On the lower lot to bring a family friendly no height requirement ride to a land/ park that is lacking you gotta go with Luigi’s Mansion dark ride in the Transformers building. Ghostbusters needs a presence somewhere too.

I hope they don’t retheme screens: the ride to Luigi’s mansion. As a big fan of that franchise that would be very disappointing☹️

No not a retheme. This would have to be a brand new practical ride just housed in the current building or at least in that space. I think Universal realizes they need to move away from screen focused rides and have been doing so. They re even removing 3D from all the rides. Rumor is they re removing it from Kong too which would leave Tranformers as the last attraction in the park requiring 3d glasses i believe.
