same, the yoshi ride doesnt look great but added energy to the land.

the nintendo land ush is getting looks meh to me which really sucks, I love nintendo and this should be a slam dunk. but only having 1 ride and that ride being a slow moving dark ride that seems.....not what a mariokart ride should be....this land is looking kinda lame imo. I still love the theming and im sure will have cool food and stores and stuff and overall this still will be a good addition to USH because they def need more to do in that park.

The nintendo land seems very close to AC for universal imo. A massive multibillion dollar IP getting a very small footprint in a park with 1 new ride. But at least AC has 2 rides with GotG being it anchor until phase 2.

I’d imagine the USH version will also be smaller than Japan’s am I right?

I change my mind. After seeing a video of Super Nintendo World in Japan, I would have rather USH got the Yoshi ride. Not that the ride itself is great by any means but it’s elevated and provides kinetic energy and nice views of the land. Also the ride vehicles are much better looking than the boxes in SLOP. Id see myself with the kids getting more use out of the Yoshi ride.
I agree. I honestly would’ve gone with a tropical/Nintendo family river raft ride themed to maybe Yoshi Island or Animal Crossing to better transition off of JW and the Donkey Kong mini-land for most of the lower lot. If they want a “shooter dark ride” a la SM or TSMM maybe convert/transform Transformers into a Splatoon or Luigi’s Mansion themed C-ticket shooter.

My very unpopular opinion would be to just reimagine the entire lower lot. Honestly everything (with the exception of Jurassic World) should really go as it’s a hodge podge of themes tied to fading properties.

I’d be ok losing transformers. Mummy too as long as another coaster replaces it. Is the Donkey Kong addition happening for sure?

Is there an expected opening period for nintendo land? I'm wondering if I bought a universal AP... If I could use it to see the land before it expires...

Summer 2023 I believe from some insiders but not officially from Universal. Universal has not officially acknowledged the land is even being built as per the norm with all Universal projects.

I just did a search and inside the magic is predicting spring 2022. Just goes to show how full of it all these theme park news sites are.

Maybe they are right and I am wrong. I Previously heard 2023 but maybe its been changed to 2022
Their estimate was based entirely on the apparent progress seen from the outside last month. I have no idea, but I wish there was some vague target that would let people know if it would be included in an AP purchase. I think it would push me over the edge to buy one soon. I would have bought an AP already except for the fact that USH has a ridiculously short list of attractions.

Universal does this strange thing of not announcing their projects even when they are being built in full view of the public. Like Velocicoaster was pretty much done when they made the "OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT" of it even existing.

Aren’t there some sit downs in City Walk? The analogous restaurants in Orlando take reservations.
I assumed you were referring to the park only.

Yes there are, but very few. If you’re into diner food, I’d recommend going to the original Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank. It’s about a 10-minute drive from USH. Not sure if they take reservations though.

From NBCU:

Date: June 7, 2021
To: Universal City Neighbors

We want you to be aware that as we continue to invest in the property, you may hear some construction noise and see grading work of the hillside closest to the Barham Gate during the next few months to prepare the area for future production growth.

The majority of the work will occur Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. Occasionally, you may hear construction noise on Saturdays between the hours of 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. All county and city construction & noise ordinances and health orders will be followed.

We will make our best efforts to minimize noise and Saturday work, as much as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience you may experience because of these activities.

"Coronavirus transmission has grown so much in recent weeks that Los Angeles County will implement a new health order requiring everyone — even people who are vaccinated — to wear masks indoors starting 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 17, officials have announced.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Los Angeles County’s current case rate puts the area in the “substantial transmission” category — the second highest of four categories.

“Considering that we’ve been reporting over 1,000 new cases a day over the last seven days, this average case rate is at a substantial community transmission level, even without a seven-day lag,” LA County Health Officer Muntu Davis said during a Thursday afternoon, June 15, briefing, “we will be implementing an order requiring masking indoors regardless of vaccination status.”

The order will have some exceptions, Davis said, but will look largely like the masking order that was in place countywide before June 15."
