Except the tower was open during at least the first two days of passholder previews. And I know SeaWorld is having technical issues with thier that was caused by the extended shut down and the company that makes the part went out of business during all of this. It was almost ready to reopen, then the part broke.

These two points lead me to believe it is more of a technical issue than social distancing at Knott's as well. It is also highly likely that other tower may have similar issues and if they can't find someone to make the part, we may loose most, if not all of these types of rides.
Perhaps that's the case then. Still, you're riding in an enclosed space where you remain stationary with limited air circulation, and there's little any operator can do to enforce mask wearing while on the ride other than hope that it happens. Kind of like the subs in that way, only much shorter.

Last I heard on the forum? somewhere that some mechanics to the show needed to be replaced that's why it abruptly closed.
Philharmagic has been able to run. Does mystery Lodge go beyond the 15mins?
Sorry, I should have clarified, shows with live performers can't run indoors. I would argue that it is safe since there is glass between the audience and performer, but according to the rules, not allowed.

Watching the reservation availability the last few days, I've come to a primary conclusion.

Starting Tuesday June 15, they are increasing capacity by a substantial amount at both parks.

I check constantly, and literally Nothing has been available at either park between now and Monday June 14. It has been that way since last weekend. Usually see dates pop up here and there, but this time, Nada. The only date after 6/15 that has remained unavailable is Saturday 6/19. A few days ago, it was opening up occasionally, but now it's remaining sold out. So even with larger capacity, Saturday is obviously still the most popular day.

If other days start selling out, expect them to keep the Reservation system in place for awhile longer. I imagine Friday 6/18 will be the next to go, but if only Saturdays are selling out, it bodes well that they might get rid of the Reservations. Or perhaps make non-weekend days "Good To Go."

The increased capacity is also apparent with Soak City reservations. Post 6/15, it's completely open. Some days are showing 10:30 or 11:00 arrival times, but while weekends have booked up in the past, they appear to be quite available. So they're still staggering the arrival times, but have added so much capacity, that the earlier times are staying available rather than filling up. I can see them dumping the timed reservations, or perhaps the whole thing if even weekend dates aren't filling up. Right now you can still get in at 11:00 next Saturday, so even that most popular day appears to be a long way from selling out.

I view all of this as Good News & Bad News. Good that reservations may be on the way out. Bad that capacity increases will make the parks more crowded. That won't necessarily result in longer waits for rides, because capacity will increase there. It will mean more people in the park in general. Longer food lines and much harder probably finding a place to sit or eat.

Thats what I enjoyed about eating at Knotts the past 2 times . I got my food within 5 minutes of ordering and I had no problem finding a table.

I guess if you find time to eat outside of the normal meal times you should be ok.

Half of our party ate at noon today at Fireman's BBQ and the other at about 1:30 at Boardwalk BBQ. In both cases we had absolutely no one on front of us, they really are getting very efficient.

Yes, they absolutely are. I remember the first week of AP previews, the line for Fireman's was 30-45 minutes. Walked by it tonight at around 8:00, and there were a couple of people in line. I can't believe the stories still coming out of Disneyland, and how they can't get it together with their mobile ordering system. Sounds like it may be improving now that they're phasing in standby walk up service, but it's been ridiculous thus far. Asking people to plan out their day's meals and timing of those meals when they arrive in the morning is no way to run a theme park.

File this under the "things you don't see everyday" category.

Late in the afternoon, I walked by a guy sitting across from the closed Stagecoach ride. Not a heavy traffic area, to be sure, but there were people around.

His shirt caught my eye, it said in big letters, "MARIJUANA" Unremarkable in itself, but then I noticed the half smoked joint nestled between his fingers. I looked back, and saw him take a hit, then blow out the smoke.

Got to admit that takes some real courage and cajones.

Part of the difference is all of the food places at Knott's are open, Disneyland has a lot that are closed.

Similar experience… I encountered a couple smoking a joint right near the exit of Montezooma’s Revenge. They even had their kid sitting next to them!

I remember when Pirates still had the Davey Jone’s “Waterfall.” That was a popular place to take a hit from a dab pen.
Knott's does need to get their employees to enforce no smoking or vaping of any shape or form inside the park. I saw an employee walk by someone that was smoking and said nothing. He was looking right at the person smoking.

I honestly don't care if people wear masks or not, but second hand smoke does cause direct harm to other people, even if you don't think so, there are people so sensitive to it that they have to have service animals to be able to avoid it as they can smell it before humans can and direct them around it or risk anaphylactic shock, even frame vapor from vaping, that should tell us that what is emitted from vaping is more than just water.

Given how serious this can be for some, I say if you smoke in the park, you are removed and banned for a minimum of a year with no refund.

I don't blame the employee, not worth minimum wage to have to enforce rules for the company.

The OC Register article about theme parks in California as of June 15 to note that vaccinated do not need to wear masks and unvaccinated will only need them indoors at Knott's and Great America.

As of tonight, Knotts hasn't updated the mask policy on their site yet nor have posted anything about it on their social media. Likely will tomorrow but in any case, I'll keep masks in my bag just in case.

This morning they dropped a lot of reservations, and every day except tomorrow was available. I booked for Friday, and think I'm going later for Summer Nights.

Now every day through Sunday is booked, including Saturday the 26th, which had never been unavailable until this afternoon.

And it’s official! No masks unless if it’s indoors and your unvaccinated
