All things Knotts Berry Farm

According to a stream I was watching tonight, the 1st two Saturdays, during the AP Previews, have sold out. There are also quite a few days, mostly on weekends, that have admittance times of between 11:00 & 2:00.
11 doesn't bother me since that is only an hour after opening, I probably wouldn't do 2 though.

While it definitely seems an improvement from the last use of that space, I feel as if Knott's should have abandoned the premise all together and built an actual dark ride again. I know this was a way cheaper option, but when you have Universal building a ride like Secret Life of Pets, it just seems like Knott's needed to build their own physical experience.

Shooter rides have never done it for me. Keep in mind I am a huge videogame fan and love light gun games.

I've never been on a good or compelling shooting gallery ride at a themepark.

It's hard to care in a shooting ride when your performance wont change your outcome at all, unlike a game where your progress stops if you underperform.

I'd like a shooting ride that interacts with the physical environment. For example, if everyone shoots the "bad guy" enough they can "explode" (smoke effect and dissapear). If everyone shoots down a certain door next to the main route off to the side , the track switches to go on that route instead.

You should be able to leave fake projection mapped "bullet holes" in the walls as well. Tons of options.

It should be explosions, fast movement, like an action movie. Instead it turns into these boring video games that arent compelling as a game or a ride.

Hopefully they will as they expand, which I think will likely need to happen soon. They are showing themselves to be more of a competitor in the theme park industry lately and I think it will pay off.

I really think these tasting events were more of a long term okay than we think. Having done them is allowing them to bring back entertainment before Disney and that is going to far bigger than most people think.

I forget which parks they are in, but there are a couple of shooter dark rides where the outcomes of the ride changes based on how well you do. Similar to how the ending of Smugglers run changes, even as you are existing the ride based on how well you did.

Challenge of Tutankhamon in Walibi Belgium has this mechanic where if you achieve a high enough score you get to access a treasure chamber; otherwise you're sent through an early exit route. I think the POV below has the latter; can't find a POV with the treasure room.

This is another one I remember hearing about:

"There are many surprises throughout Labyrinth of the Minotaur, among them being ejected from the ride at certain points if you have not scored sufficient hits, and, in the final chamber, coming face to face with not one, but six 12-foot tall Minotaur."

Wooow soooo lame. Knott's just doesn't get it. No one wants a boring video game. Its just go to screen. stop at screen. shoot at screen move onto next screen while spinning. No imagination. Not even a single AA. wooow. failure. 4 years now instead of 5 is my prediction until this flops and Dinosaurs comes back.

I grade this stuff on a curve. It's not Disney quality but it's a fraction of the price and my kids will love it. Looking forward to it.

IDK, it looks fun to me! These shooter rides are very popular in pretty much every theme park these days. I'm getting my first KBF AP (ever) this summer since Disney won't have theirs back until the end of the year and looking forward to it. No, it's not Disney but for $100, hey, not bad lol. Nice to have something new in the park.

I'm pretty much over the shooter rides. The last time I rode TSMM with family I didn't even pick up the shooter thing (but was still awarded a very low score) and just watched my family enjoying themselves instead.

But this looks like more fun than the very popular TSMM.

Looks fun, though not as musical as I’d hoped. Okay use of the characters. This is a makeover and a step up from Iron Reef, after all. Many people do love game rides. There is charm and whimsy here; AAs do not equal imagination (see Disney’s Little Mermaid and BatB rides). Granted, it doesn’t come close to the original KBT, which I adored. I do love the overall callback to the original’s scene sequence. This is Cedar Fair, and I’m glad they’re at least bringing back the characters that add some more variety and color to the park’s lineup.

As a gamer, though, I gotta criticize the abrupt pacing at the start; it’s not immediately clear when the game begins and exactly what the targets are. Also, the repetitive animation of the fox pups is annoying. Still, I’m glad to see KBT back in any form.
