So we then have Iron Reef with a never ending barrage of video game dinos rather than steampunk fish. I'm good. That sounds a bit too much like the Jurassic Park Arcade shooter.
There is going to be AA's and very little screens. when screens are used they will be used to help tell the story not be the story. "A special effect with no story is a pretty boring thing." -George Lucas

But we've seen that Knotts isn't going to build that style of attraction. They want screens to be the primary focus with interactivity being the goal above storytelling.

i swear if knotts got rid of the waterfront pier themed area in the back and redid it with a jungle/aztec/dinosaur theme the park as a whole would be so much better imo. The waterfront section of the park is such a baren, non themed area it looks like six flags.

When this ride fails to bring in crowds in the next 5 years consistantly they will change their tune.
AA's are expensive and difficult to do well. Even Disney is shying away from them in recent years. Knotts cannot afford a quality KOTD ride for this age. When the original attraction debuted, the only competition was the Disneyland diorama (not a full attraction) and the local museums who have the traveling AA's. Knotts was able to elevate that traveling AA show with sets, lighting, and and a track system. However, with Jurassic World being the new gold standard for dinosaur experiences, I doubt Knotts would want to come out with an attraction that is lesser than their competition. The amount of money needed to pull off a modern KOTD ride just isn't a priority for Knotts.

Kingdom was never that good anyways and stole the thunder of its predecessor. Bear-y Tales was the OG and should of never been taken out. Even though I think it would of suffered the same fate as Kingdom anyways when it comes to the ride system. As much as I would of loved to have seen them do a Garner Holt edition of the ride. I'm very happy to accept the return of the IP since its Knott's underrated dark ride. Videos online of the old ride do not do the thing justice when it came to the lighting, animation, and etc. But I am happy that Rolly's pride and joy is back in any kind of way. It's actually accurate to the original from what I have seen and beautifully stands out on its own than trying to duplicate the original exact.

That and it has Rolly Crump's blessing and even his Chris (who worked on the original) is even helping with it! So there you go. As for the longivity, we'll have to wait and see. I think it dying is just hyperbolic at this time and I can tell you that what I see in that video is far more than what Iron Reef could wish it have. It also kinda tells you that it will be here for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, one day we can see things get added to it overtime like a figure or two. That would be cool!

KotD was great in its prime. I was a Disney-kid through and through, but KotD was my favourite darkride by far. Bear-y tales I always found creepy and lame. It reminded me of Chuckee Cheese characters put into a cheap carnival ride.

Don't know if this was mentioned before but I checked Knotts Berry Farms hours when it reopens

Knotts will open at its usual 10am hour. Closing hours will vary by day but they're closing later than both DL and DCA. The DLR parks in May are currently scheduled to close at 9pm.

Knotts on weekdays: Closes at 8pm until the first week of June. Closes at 10pm beginning 2nd week of June.

Knotts on weekends: Either 10pm (Friday, Sunday) or 11pm (Saturday)

The Calendar is going as far as September 12th so we won't get an idea when Knotts Scary Farm is gonna start until later but mazes are being built and Season pass holders can now add on this seasons Scary Farm pass

Well, you're correct about the animatronics. But the reason for that was due to the characters going for that Fantasy Land style. Rolly wasn't pushing for sophistication on those as he was more focused on the dark ride experience. The figures themselves were actually made from a company who specialized on Mascot outfits and window displays. In fact the characters moved quite differently in the opening years of the ride. But looked bad overtime as the years went on. So really its the same fate as Kingdom. Maybe you may have seen it in the later years when it was losing steam and that's why the ride appeared lame.

Also nothing wrong on the opinion about Bear-y Tales. I find it a relief to know considering that the ride gets a lot of positive vibes. I commend you for that. Some rides or attractions aren't meant for everyone. I don't even like the Chuck E. Cheese stuff for example and find Rock-A-Fire to be the better one of the two. Even the more obscure Tex Critters...

Anyone in the queue for reservations? I'm #7,377, but the line has been paused for the last 10 minutes, and I have not moved.

Just hopped on now to see how it goes compared to Disneyland - I'm not buying tickets but I have the queue in a separate tab (so if anyone wants to use the queue ID below be my guest! haha).

They're using the same queue system as Disneyland, so I wouldn't be surprised if they've run into the same issue as what happened on the 15th.

That "more than an hour" is taunting me again. 😂

I opened the ticket page at about 10:15am and I'm #22015 in line... I was not expecting this huge of a queue for Knott's honestly. I'm trying to get a week day in early June though so thinking I should be fine.

That's super odd; I was at 50 minutes a little while ago before going back to more than an hour, where I've been for almost 50 minutes now.

Even Knotts will toy with my emotions despite this all being a hypothetical wait. 😂

According to a stream I was watching tonight, the 1st two Saturdays, during the AP Previews, have sold out. There are also quite a few days, mostly on weekends, that have admittance times of between 11:00 & 2:00.
