All Magic Kingdom, All the Time (aka Has Disney given up on Space Mountain?)

Can I ask a dumb question?

Who's the new "Walt Disney" at Walt Disney Incorporated?

Who's saying "I want a bobsled ride in Disneyland, now go make it happen"?

Are there any dreamers at Walt Disney Inc? Or are they just trademark babysitters?

Maybe they should put Pixar in charge of the parks...

John Lasseter is probably the closest we'll get. His passion for the parks is unparalleled. Unfortunately, he can be shouted down by the beancounters, whereas Walt could not(for the most part).

LOLLLL Bob, Tony and Joe direct WDI now? Really? When did this promotion occur? Last time I checked Bruce Vaughn and Craig T. Russell headed up WDI reporting to Jay Rasolu. Lasseter serves as a creative advisor who stops by time to time.

Those guys you mentioned are just designers they have no control or say on what actual projects get built.

And TDO has even less control.

I knew I could smoke you out. Sometimes this is just too easy! :ROFLOL:

And that would work...How?

How do you know that? Cite your "facts" please.

TDO does not control WDI.

I know it hasn't offically been announced yet but if TLM attraction comes to MK will it go in the 20k plot? If so how much space is it supposed to take up, will there still be a chance to make a new 20 K ride when the new film comes out!

Chances are about zero. If the modern version of 20K happens at WDW it will be at AK according to jedimaster. You will never see Disney or anyone else build a new submarine ride similar to the original. Insurance, lawyers, accessability make it pretty impossible. Fortunately we still have one at Disneyland.

What I meant was that Pixar seems to have more creative energy than just about anyone these days. I see that Lasseter is a creative adviser at WDI, which is helpful surely...

Agreed. If I had my way Pixar would run everything creative inside th company.

*Sigh* If only that was possible. But seriously, if PatF fails in the theaters and critics, put all of WDFA underneath Pixar.

Congratulations, you can do a wiki search.

This list doesn't prove anything about TDO's relation to WDI (it's ability to handle the management of a project, funding, whom TDO can report to that might outrank WDI, like Jay etc). It's just a list of names and titles within WDI.

I'm sure TDO has no control over TDR obviously, but can you prove a creative executive has the power to call the major shots on any given development project in WDW? Such as the power to green light a project?

A lot of posters here claim that TDO has the power to greenlight major projects (TLM, ultra-SM etc.). They never offer proof of any kind that TDO has that kind of power yet nobody calls them to account for their claims. I say TDO does not have that authority. They have not provided any proof to support their claim so go bark up that tree. And I only used wiki because it is obvious that is what connundrum had done.

And again TDO does not greenlight major additions. Common sense should tell you that.

True. TDO alone doesn't greenlight projects. It is done in partnership with Burbank.
TDO does have some power, however, to push for projects it wants.
Also, things like not wanting SM down for too long having an effect on the refurb...that's all TDO.

I agree 100%. Except to say that I personally believe TDO has lost some more power since "One Disney" came along. And I think they have largely earned the demotion. That said, I think some of the smaller stuff they have done lately indicates they may be getting the message. It's important to praise them (as consumers) what they get right I think.

Does anyone have his track record. I heard he was instrumental in creating Journey into YOUR Imagination.

We went over this in a previous thread. Someone posted everything he was the head of, and 75% of the stuff was of quality.

He has worked on terrible attractions (JIYI, UNM), but he was not the project lead. Personally, I don't think that can be a black mark on your record if you are doing what you're told.
