Disney definitely needs to bring in some micro-brews into the World Showcase. The US needs to better display our real beer.

Also we need a Belgian pavilion so we can have all of the great Belgian beers.

IMO the World Showcase should have a huge variety of beer (with hundreds of beers on tap) and the Rose & Crown Pub should be the focal point.:king:
cheers1.gif

I agree, and since America has no table service restaurant, why not search for a company like Flying Dog, or Dogfish(just to name a couple good ones, not saying it has to be those two) and build a microbrewery at the American Pavilion. :D Just an idea.

WoM's Return

As promised,

Phase 1-- Reboot the TT storyline that would create test vehicles that are putting new automatic navigation computers through their paces. The computers "personalities" would range somewhere between KITT from Knight Rider fame and HAL 9000 from 2001:A Space Odyssey and would continually take passengers on "joy rides" due to problems in it's artificial intelligence. The ride would reflect the humor of the original ride with plenty of allusions to TT's past problems.

Phase 2-- Add a monorail station at the front of the TT building but with the load station entirely on the Innoventions side of the track. One of the things this would allow is guests to board an "express monorail" to the TTC from a central location in EPCOT. So then guests coming from the TTC would disembark at the old station but exiting the park by monorail would take place at the new station. This would require reversing the way the trains run now but it would be a real value added, quality of experience enhancement for Magic Kingdom resort guests traveling back to their resorts or park hoppers. It would be especially welcome after a long day and Illuminations to not have to trek with day visitors to the main entrance. So I could envision a long ramp that would start from about the KP recruiting kiosk location that slopes slowly up to the new station. The new station would be futuristic with LED lighting and covered by a canopy with a translucent roof "checkerboarded" with solar panels that would provide the power for the lights at night. Batteries and other hardware could be installed within the ramp. A small walkway would run between the ramp and lagoon (with railing) so guests could observe a new attraction I see for the lagoon (I figured out a way to produce revenue from that lagoon:lol:, more about that later).

The monorail platform would also have circular pedestrian ramps on the northwest corner (for emergency egress and disembarking passengers for special events) and the northeast corner (for access to a new 2nd floor pavilion that would be built between the new mono station and the original WoM building (phase 3, which I will describe later). The circular ramps would be scaled down versions of the large circular ramp the original WoM ride utilized. The monorail station would serve 2 other purposes which I will describe in my next installment of.......Return of WoM!

Alright JT! Can't wait for the next installment. :D

Thanks! You have encouraged me to continue....

Phase 3-- Now that the new monorail station is in I would bring back the WoM as a true "pavilion" by expanding on the original building. It would connect the new monorail station to the original building. This new "room" would be built above the existing walkways and whose configuration would not change much. Basically the "ground floor" would be open air walkways with a circular ramp that leads to the enclosed 2nd floor.

The WoM pavilion should be themed to the "future of transportation" and that would be primarily what this new area would be about. It would cover the future of mass transit. Basically Maglev trains, hydrogen powered busses, monorails etc. Oh, and look here, we just happen to have a working monorail that enters this new "room" every 10 to 15 minutes. So then not only do we have a more convienent transportation system for Epcot we also get a working monorail as part of a new display. As the monorail enters the room and is loading passengers from the opposite side, display panels would light up and provide "3D" x-ray schematics of the inner workings and explanations of the technology. Very kinetic and fun for people interested in futuristic technologies (which the monorails still reflects).

But there would be a second monorail attraction in the new room. Disney offers very popular behind the scenes tours such as "Keys to the Kingdom" at the MK and the "Behind the Seeds" tour at the Land pavilion. Guests love to ride in the front of the monorail so I would add a new tour. Perhaps it could be called "Keys to the Monorail" tour. Guest would purchase the tour and there could be a small kiosk set up in this new room for guests who purchased the tour to await the monorail pilot. Once the monorail was stopped, the pilot would invite the guests in. The tour would board from the TT side while all other guests would be loading from the Innoventions side of the train. The tour would offer a photo op with the pilot and a ride from WoM to the TTC and back in a complete loop while the operator provides information and answers questions. Once guests returned they would receive the photo, certificates, pins, etc. with "I co-Piloted the Monorail at WDW" or some similar souviniers. Of course since the pilots would be doing two jobs, these positions would pay more and be considered for only the best monorail pilots.

OK, Phase 4 coming tomorrow. Connecting the new room to the original WoM building and a hostile takeover of that corporate lounge by.........PIXAR! (yeah I said it).

*runs away again*

PS- I am not nor am I related to any monorail pilots. But they need to get paid too.

Let me be the bean counter here: cut that down about 75% and then MAYBE we can talk about it, you know, because, well, we just cannot afford to throw a few million into making things better :)

And so far we are only talking a several million here. I think TT could be converted into a fully functioning pavilion for 50 to 100 million and become as popular as The Land pavilion.

If I might inject my input:

First off, I love the concept for the Test Track redo. Cute beyond reason! If Test Track absolutely has to exist, I would say that's an awesome way to go.

In my musings about a redo of the Transportation pavilion, I've also always thought the building has potential to contain an actual transportation station. BUT I personally think it would wasting an opportunity to just simply attach to the existing Monorail beamway to the TTC. I'd like to see a new beamway or two providing service to Downtown Disney, Hollywood Studios, and maybe Animal Kingdom, and/or a PRT hub for EPCOT Center for Resort Guests. And having an "X-ray" view of the Monorail (or perhaps PRT car?) from the World of Motion attraction is just freaking cool.

Now you bring up an excellent idea of a Monorail tour. The problem with it is that Guests will be P.O.ed to have to pay for something that was essentially free before. And what about riding up front around the Magic Kingdom area? Everything you mentioned are all things the Monorail Pilots do anyway, with the exception of the extra souvenirs. What would work excellently, would be to build a new Monorail Shop (maintenance, not merchandise) behind the Transportation/World of Motion pavilion and offer tours out of there. Monorail tours have always been highly requested, but haven't been offered because there is no elevator in the existing Monorail Shop and thus wouldn't conform to ADA.

And PIXAR?! Come on, man, let's try and restore some dignity for EPCOT Center. I love love love Pixar, but there's a time and a place for it, and those 300 acres ain't it.

jr04,

All I can say is AWESOME!!! Can't wait to read phase 4!!!

Thank you very much. No need for this tread to shut down until then.

Kim Possible attraction will be added soon. I personally think it is a great addition from what I have heard for a few reasons.

Anyone else got an opinion good or bad? :veryconfu

Remember this is all Epcot all of the time.

My dream is that the Energy dino-rama will be long gone before then, like maybe April or May 2009. Just my personal opinion.:lookaroun

I think it's perfect. It's got the draw for kids (Kim and the Characters) and it provides the cultural aspect of the WS in a very fun informative way.

Perhaps they could add an elevator to the existing maintenance facility and there could be a deluxe tour offering that includes the ride and tour of maintenance. As for free rides, people would understand that only people signed up and registered as guests would be allowed for safety reasons.

Yes, Pixar, must sell plush :dazzle:, must sell plush :dazzle:, must sell plush :dazzle:

OK, Phase 4, Connecting the new room to the original building.

It should be possible to just connect the buildings but there is a very exiting high speed E-ticket running around the outside of the original building. So I propose building the new room's eastern wall right next to the original buildings convex side by creating a complimentary concave wall that follows the same curve. By doing so you would create a very narrow tunnel that is also very very tall that the test track would pass through. This space could be covered by a solid roof or skylights creating essentially an atrium which is open on each end so the test track passes through. This very narrow and high (and weather proof) atrium could be filled with special lighting or set pieces that create the illusion of the cars traveling at great speed. Observation windows could also be added to the new room overlooking the atrium and allowing guests to observe from above the test track cars traveling through the atrium.

I would also add a direct connection from the new room through the atrium and connecting to the original building that would allow access to the corporate lounge. This would be a narrow sealed bridge near the front of test track but high above the track on the north end of the new atrium. I think a Cars attraction would work great here. Every pavilion needs to have something for everyone. So then this would be a room for families with small children that would offer a 3-D cars movie or possibly an attraction called "Cars Talk" featuring Luigi or Tow Mater or other Cars "characters" that uses the same technology as Turtle Talk. Scaled down Cars could also be included for photo ops. Naturally a gift shop would fit in here quite well (please don't throw things at me!)

So to summerize, we have a new storyline for Test Track, a new monorail station for guest "quality of life" improvement, a new pavilion room that showcases cutting edge mass transit solutions and includes a real monorail, a new "behind the scenes" tour (which I believe would be very popular), a new Test Track enhancement that would create a much more thrilling ride (illusion of greater speeds), and an attraction that would be loved by families with children too young for test track.

I forgot to mention that the new atrium would make it necessary to remove the giant awning in front of Test Track. I am sure you are all terribly disappointed by that. That is all for now. I figure Disney could scrape the change from it's fountains and be able to afford what I have proposed so far. And I'm just warming up. :)

Next time on The Return of the World of Motion:

The World of Motion Takes Over Odyssey Site By Imminent Domain!

PS- This is good stuff here, hope you are taking notes.......(kidding:p)
