Akershus or Chef Mickey?

Hi-I'm planning one Character meal for my two girls (aged 4 and 2). I can't decide between dinner at Akershus or Chef Mickey's. They love the Princesses but also love Mickey Mouse Club House. Help please:shrug:

I've eaten at both, and I wasn't overly impressed with Akershus. However, we ate there before it was a character meal, but the food wasn't overly impressive. I ate a fish entree that was good, but as far as the pickings on the buffet bar, there wasn't much to my tastes. Chef Mickey's had a far better food selection, in my opinion.

Very tough choice because they are such different experiences.

Food wise, I would pick Chef Mickey's because I personally do not like the dinner menu at Akershus (it is Norwegian food). However, we have had breakfast there and liked it.

Characer wise, I think I'd go with Akershus since you have two girls who love the princesess.

Have you checked out the dinner menu at Akershus yet?

Is there any way you could do both? They really are two unique experiences. If you do pick Akershus, I would suggest the breakfast rather than dinner unless you really like how the dinner menu looks.

Thank you. I have not checked the menus but the meal must be a dinner (1st day arriving later).

sbkline and happymom hit the nail on the head.

Characters ... Akershus
Food ... Chef Mickeys

We had dinner at Akershus early December. The princess interaction was fantastic, but we hardly touched our meals. For the price, we wished we had had dinner somewhere else. The dinner at Akershus was the worst meal we had the entire 8-day trip.

But, some love it. Look at the menus and decide if the princesses are worth it or not.

We love Chef Mickey's (I have 2 boys so princesses aren't our thing). The characters are definately fun. Our dinner there a few weeks ago was fantastic. The boys (5 and 21mo) loved the pizza and mac & cheese. I pesonally loved the pasta and beef and they had tons of sides and a good salad bar.

We loved Chef Mickey's dinner (and breakfast). The characters were awesome too. It was our last night and what a way to end it. We've done Akershus for breakfast. It was good. Our daughter enjoyed meeting the princesses. Our son who was 3 1/2 liked it too. Never been there for dinner. I suggest checking out the menu. If you have picky eaters then I'd go for Chef Mickey's. Since it's a buffet I'm sure you'll find something for everyone.

With kids that young (and I'm assuming picky, but might be wrong), I'd think Chef Mickeys is your best bet. The Akershus menu seems a bit more on the adventurous side, and a lot of kids that age prefer to stick with familiar foods.

We did both (for dinner) on our trip a couple weeks ago, and loved them. One thing to remember, if you're on the dining plan, your 4-year old will have to order from the kid's menu at Akershush, which means pizza or mac-n-cheese (I had the vegetable stuffed pasta - it was one of my favorite meals on the entire trip.)

If you do Chef Mickey's, it a buffet so everyone can eat whatever they want. And, that will be the easiest way to see Mickey without waiting in a very long line somewhere.

Character interaction was great either way.

My DH and I had a great time at Chef Mickey's and we don't even have kids! :D But it was great to see how happy the other kids were with the characters. At our dinner all of them were very interactive. We're thinking of hitting it again when we go in May.

The Princess Storybook dinner was great, however we consider Chef Mickey's to be a must meal for any WDW trip.
The entertainment & food are great, although we have only eaten there for dinner.
On the other hand, we did receive pics w/ the featured princess at the Princess Storybook dinner at no extra charge.

Do the breakfast at akershus if you are nervous of the food in norway.

You get the traditional buffet breakfast choices.

The lunch and dinners get more european and while I liked them alot, relatives that were less adventurous were not pleased.

also get a carlsberg draft when you are there!
