Agent Training (AEP) trip report Kingdom Konsultant Travel

This coming week I will be taking most of my agents for an in-depth, customized training session at Walt Disney World. We will be touring hotels, dining facilities and I have a lot of SURPRISES set up along the way that they don't know about!!!

They will be posting in this thread and adding pictures daily.
Those that will be attending from WDWMagic are as follows:
Kingdom Konsultant - Pam
Master Yoda - Richard
DisneyFalcon - Tammy
Xodisneybelleox - Jess
Shoppingnut - Gloria
Polymissy - Missy
GrumpysWife - Jenell
DisneyHeather - Heather k
Wannabebelle - Marie

We may be at a hotel or restaurant that you have always been interested in but still have not tried or perhaps we will be doing some of the many extras that can be booked for our clients that peak your interest.

We start arriving midweek to start our training!!

Jenell and I left the room around 9 on Monday morning. Some of the agents were having breakfast at Ohana, but we opted for a free concierge breakfast. Then they were planning on Animal Kingdom followed by the Studios. I was afraid Animal Kingdom would be a let down after our incredible experience the day before, so we decided on the Studios.

We spent a lot of time that morning in Storm Along Bay. It’s such a beautiful pool. We ended up talking to one cast member for about 15 minutes. He was retired Navy and was living his dream snowbirding and working for Disney in the winter.

Eventually we caught a boat over to the studios. I had been wanting a red velvet cupcake from the Studios ever since we got to Florida! I took someone’s advice from a trip report I read here (was it Derelicte?) and got it early in the day! It was moist and delicious! I’m not a big icing person, so I actually only ate the stump. :D

Great way to start the day!

I think we started at Toy Story Midway Mania. We had been given several Fastpasses to use over the weekend. Some of them would allow multiple people in at once. The Studios passes allowed 5 people at once. When we walked up to use one at Toy Story, the cast member asked where the other 3 people were. Since Fastpasses for TSM were already out for the day, we realized these Fastpasses were like gold and we should find someone!

We saw an older couple look at the closed Fastpass machines and pass the ride. We ran after them and talked them into riding with us. We did this several more times that day with our Fastpasses. Some people were in right away, and others were a little suspicious.

We made new friends all day! :)

After TSM we walked over to Star Tours. Star Tours makes me a little nauseated, but I seem to do okay in the back row. We visited the Wookie planet today.

After that we decided to try a walk up to Sci Fi. It was no problem and I had a delicious burger!

Then we caught the next American Idol show. I always love that show.

After American Idol, Jenell was on the phone with a client and Missy was headed over to the Studios.

We sat on a bench while Jenell talked on the phone and I people watched. There was a mom and grandmom (?) walking by with a screaming 4ish year old. She kept saying “She did not want to go!!!” The mom said she needed to stop. The little girl yelled – “No you need to stop you –(insert b-word)”!!

I thought I heard wrong until I saw all the jaws fall open around us. Not the mom’s! She didn’t say a word, just kept walking.

Wow.

When Missy came we walked over to Tower of Terror. Jenell sat out, so Missy and I grabbed some people with our Fastpasses and took a trip into the Twilight Zone.

After that Missy headed to catch Disney Jr. and Jenell and I found some new friends and rode Rockin Roller Coaster.

After that we found even more friends and rode Toy Story Mania one more time.

TrainingPt3066.jpg

Then we headed back to the room to freshen up before dinner. I actually went out without my camera!! Crazy!! I knew I’d taken a huge number of pictures over the last few days so I decided I could do without it for one night. One last pic:

We met Pam, Dani, Marie and Gloria at Teppan Edo for dinner. We had a great chef and dinner was delicious.

After we finished we went back to the concierge lounge on a mission. I had been looking forward to Oreo bon bons all week!! It’s one of the great things about staying concierge at Beach Club or Yacht Club!

Somehow we had missed them every night. Either we got in too late, they didn’t have them that night, or they were out. I was not missing them on our last night.

Success!!!! We filled up plates and had them for dessert, second dessert, and breakfast the next morning.

We said goodbye to everyone that night since everyone else was gone or was leaving early the next morning.

I took some pictures on the balcony:

Monday, January 23rd –

Departure day! Sadness. At least we thought it was departure day. :lookaroun

We packed up our room and got ready to head out. The other meal I’d been looking forward to all week was Earl of Sandwich so that was our goal for today before we left! Jenell was so sweet to indulge my food wish list. :)

TrainingPt3091.jpg

First we walked into Epcot to shop at MouseGear a little.

We also decided to ride Test Track while we were there. After we rode, we found a family who had just arrived at WDW and unloaded the rest of our Fastpasses on them.

After we were done, we walked back to the room, packed up our purchases and checked our bags.

TrainingPt3106.jpg

We waited a decent amount of time for a Downtown Disney bus. When we got there, we remembered that the Marketplace bus stop was closed. Shoot! We were running a little short on time at that point. We ran into World of Disney to check for a calendar for Jenell and then we went to the Christmas store so she could replace a personalized ornament. While we were in line, I realized that we were REALLY short on time. I decided go got get in line at Earl while she checked out.

She called my cell phone a few minutes later and said there was something wrong with the registers and she hadn’t left yet. She told me to get her whatever I was having so we both got Caribbean Jerk Chicken Sandwiches. Yum! No pictures, because we literally ate on the run!

Jenell came in right as I was getting our drinks and we took off for the bus stop! We didn’t wait too long, but knowing we were stopping at other resorts before ours (I hate that) we knew we weren’t going to make it.

Yes, you heard me. Two travel agents and we missed our DME bus. Later we would assure our husbands that we did it just to test the system for our clients. Yeah…That’s why!! :lookaroun

Jenell called DME who told us we should be able to catch another bus. When we stopped at the Swan we jumped off and hoofed it back to the Beach Club.

Still carrying our sandwiches, we walked up to an empty DME stop. There was a cast member there who almost seemed to be waiting on us. He asked if we were waiting for the bus we had clearly already missed. We said yes and we were hoping to catch another. He disappeared and what do you know, another bus pulled up a short while later.

Phew!! My dh never would have let me forget it if we had to take a cab because we crammed too much in! :D

Well, the adventures weren’t quite over. We made it to the airport in plenty of time, even with an incredibly long security line. After boarding we pulled out about 50 yards from the gate, and just sat there. And sat there. Apparently something was broken.

We sat for THREE hours!! We both had our ipads so we were fine other than the fact that we were STARVING!! Oh my word, at some point I may have threatened to eat the seat cushion. About 2 hours in, a flight attendant passed out some pretzels.

Best. Pretzels. Ever.

After 3 hours they finally announced what we had all known for at least two hours. We weren’t going anywhere. With no real instructions other than, pick up your bags at carousel 5, we all got off the plane. We went straight to the United ticketing counter and got in what soon became a very very long line. I checked on our bags a few times downstairs but they took forever to come.

Of course they didn’t take as long as the line!

Slowest. Line. Ever.

It took a good 45 minutes to get to the front and we were only about 10 people back. When we got to the front we were informed that all the rooms at the Hyatt were gone and they wanted us to go to an offsite hotel. Jenell very politely insisted they could find something at the Hyatt, and what do you know? They did!

Yay! :sohappy:

We checked in at the Hyatt, took our dinner vouchers down to Macaroni Grill and ate dinner at 9:00!

I definitely recommend the Hyatt. If you’re cruising out of Port Canaveral and are taking Disney transfers, it’s the best way to go. It also was super nice! Check out the view from our balcony:

The next day we finally made it home to our poor neglected families. The only other hardship we had to endure was the lack of Chicken Minis at the airport Chick Fil A.

It was a once in a lifetime trip! Thanks to Pam for making it all possible!! :sohappy:

Thanks, Joanna! Rack rate for the Hospitality Suite is over $1000 a night and it's not even the most expensive one.:lookaroun

Whoosh! That is crazy! :dazzle:

Dang! I think I'd go stir-crazy if I had to sit on a plane (without moving) for 3 hours

I might have if not for my trusty ipad. My biggest concern was food!! After a 7 hour trip on Alaska Airlines with only a pretzel to eat several years ago, I promised myself I would never fly again without a candy bar in my purse. Sadly, I broke that rule that day.

I'll have to remember that rule the next time I fly

You aint kidding I tell ya!!! I made sure that everyone was all fed and good to go as we were flying in within 1/2 hour of Air Force One for our flight in for this adventure!!! If he was even slightly early,w e could be doing circles above the airport for an hour or more, waiting for the President to land, de-plane, get into a car and get off the airport grounds before they open up the airspace again!!! Luckily the folks at Jet Blue got us all settled in seats etc so we were able to push back from the gate early, get going early and make it in almost an hour ahead of the President. YAY!!!!!!!! Great job to my flight crew. Marie
