I guess this is new. :shrug: We're on our way down to WDW and I got an email from Disney Destinations reminding me of my ADR for dinner tomorrow night. Gives my name, the restaurant name, the time, and confirmation number. Cool beans, I guess. :D

Interesting - great convenience for most of us - I'm just thinking of my parents who have traditional phone only cell phones and would return home to a week's worth of reminder emails! :lol:

All these reminder emails and apps are someday going to make my spreadsheets obsolete!

I just noticed an interesting email in my inbox from Disney. I think you can opt out of these emails... I'll go read the email again and report back...

Yep, here you go (I just copied and pasted the important parts);

"Since we want to help you get the most magic out of your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, we're planning on staying in touch by emailing you special offers and more while you're here! For example:

We'll share special offers available to you only while you're visiting. Some expire upon check-out, so be sure to check your email often so you don't miss out!

Get handy tips to help you enjoy the magic.

Receive recommendations tailored to your travel party.

If you do not want to receive emails promoting these special offers and tips at this email address during your Walt Disney World vacation, just click the link below. Clicking this link will only opt you out of email communications during your vacation."

Oooooh...so this is along the lines of the RFID thing, to try to tailor tips, offers, & info to the individual guests. Cool. I won't opt out just to see what they have to say. :)

We leave Sunday and I haven't gotten anything from them. I hope nothing's wrong. We're staying Club Level at The Poly and the IPO did all of my ADRs and I got a confirmation e-mail from them 6 months ago.
Think I should call and confirm them?

When it comes to sending me my emails, their email servers might get tired and feel overworked! I have lots of them set up!

Seriously, this is awesome! I've always thought WDW's website could use a little help, and this type of thing makes me believe that it might actually happen someday!

This is an interesting update for people who have emaill enabled phones. Still, it's an improvement.

What I would like to see in addition to this is having the email sent 7-10 days in advance with some sort of statement asking you to cancel the reservation if you have no intention of keeping it so that others could book the time.

As a side note, if there was wireless in the rooms, you could read the emails on your laptop.

Kinda how I view this. Nonetheless, nice to see Disney join the 21st century when it comes to dining reservation emails.

I agree! It's very nice to see them finally catching up and putting current technology to good use. Are they also using (or at least offering as an option) text messaging?
