ABC/Lost/Disney Question..........

Sorry, but Lost is still, IMO, better than any anime show.

And I have actually taken time to watch a season of some anime show that one of my anime-headed friends just SWEARS is better than sliced bread, and I must say that it was one of the most confusing, boring, terribly told stories that I have ever seen, both on television or written form. It was just awful. The animation, the acting, the story, the sound effects, EVERYTHING. It just sucked. Hard.

And then I stuck Star Trek: Voyager in, listened to Janeway get an attitude with some alien, and then all was right with the world. :D

Name of the show please?

And that's just stupid. It's like saying "I took the time to watch a WHOLE movie, and can say that all movies aren't as good as LOST."

I'm talking about the unfair and unaccountable stereotyping of an entire medium, and I have to say that attitude just adds more fuel to the fire.

(Which, by the way, seems to have always been burning since the world's been turning. I didn't light it, but I DID try to fight it.)

This thread should be titled "Pile on EpcotServo" I'm not going to press on with the inquisition, since it appears ES and I have pretty similar tastes across the board. It's only LOST that he's totally wrong about :drevil:

Moving on...

It's ok, I can take it....This is nothing, I LIKE most of you guys. I've handled much worse.

Anyways, like I said...I'm not slamming the quality of Lost. Again, compared to the rest I can see the appeal.

Just trying to get others to expand their horizons to bigger and better pastures...

Consider me the person in slow motion trying to throw the hammer into that Big Television like in that old commercial.

I was just at WDW and I was pretty disappointed by the lack of Lost stuff. I'll admit that building a massive ride is probably unrealistic (although I don't think that Lost fandom and interest will end as soon as the show does, and, like ToT, the theming can be somewhat loose). However, I think they're missing a big opportunity by not having something small and temporary. My idea: a Dharma recruiting booth in Innovations. My super awesome, outside the realm of possibility idea: a Dharma pavilion at EPCOT that includes both a ride and a whole bunch of stuff about fringe science.

Ooooh, I'd been picturing a DHS attraction, but Epcot would be a good place for something. Maybe they could somehow re-theme the Energy Pavillion with the LOST characters. How they would do this, I do not know, but if they can re-theme an attraction about energy after Ellen Degeneres, anything is possible!

EPCOT is NOT the place for LOST.

Don't make me call the EPCOT Explorer and Retro Brigade in here about that...

For now I'll tell them you guys are only kidding.

Just out of curiosity, what current television shows do you like?

On American TV it's slim pickings...

Scrubs is the best thing that's actively running on a major network for me right now. Aside from that it's mostly Discovery/History channel programs. Mythbusters is also a favorite. New episodes of the Animated Comedies, Simpsons, Family Guy, of course.

Even though Lost, Heroes, and other big network well-reviewed programs have disappointed me so, I AM holding out hope that Joss Whedon's Dollhouse will bring some much needed Whedon into the overrun Sci-Fi Drama landscape.
:sohappy:

The only really great shows they show on American TV are either being hidden in crummy time slots or too deep into the show to recommend this late in the game. Gundam 00 adds another fresh take into the amazing 30-year old library of Gundam Universes, and while started out slow, has mid-way turned out some amazing drama and action, as well as unique and distinctly Gundam character development. That show however ends next Monday, with Season 2 wrapping up in Japan around the same time so America won't see it for quite some time. Code Geass is an even-better show, but has such a monumental story that even tuning in a few episodes in might warrant a "Huh?". But when watched from the begining the story takes SO many twists and turns and dramatic resolutions that you just have to be there for EVERY episode. Season 2 is halfway done, and it's had me on the edge of my seat since Episode 4! It's really been an emotional roller coaster, and It's the closest I can get to assuming what the feeling is that most Lost fans have. It's bigger than Sliced Bread in Japan, but sadly hasn't found such a big following in America yet.

If you're looking to invest in some REALLY worthwhile television that can only be found on DVD, just give me a PM and I can suggest some classics and new hits.

Starting March 16th at 11PM on the Sci-Fi network, they'll be rebroadcasting the newest show from a studio called GAINAX. (Anyone who has seen stuff from Gainax knows them: They're self-confessed Anime fans who create fantastic, sometimes almost abstract, art styles for their shows such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, His and Her Circumstances, or Fooly Cooly. They really embrace the artform, and in doing so often seem to reinvent it.) The show is called GURREN LAGANN, and it's really amazing. The style is incredibly unique, and the story is incredibly moving. I HIGHLY recomend. Watch the first 10 Episodes and you'll watch and be a fan for the entire series, and for life. Not that is was depressing, but the last three episodes were SO moving that this show holds the current record for duration of man-ly crying while watching something on Television for me.

I was never much of a Scrubs fan, though all my friends are. It was always a little too wacky and cutesy for me. I love the Simpsons, but the later seasons have lacked.

I am a self-professed Lost junkie, but to each his own. Heroes though is an abomination. I too look forward to Whedon's Dollhouse. As for all the anime, I was never into it, but I can tell you have a lot of enthusiasm for it. At least from your avatar I can see we share one thing in common, we both look forward to Watchmen. I hope it's a success!

Comedy is very subjective- I can see where Scrubs or such wouldn't appeal to someone. I do think it's the best-made (Live Action) sitcom out right now, especially because this first ABC season of the show has been REALLY good so far.
:D

Heroes was just awful. Heard nothing but great things, watched Season 1 on DVD and was just like "COME ON. This is just a rip off of the really early X-Men stories but with much less interesting characters, and the ones who are interesting will be painfully underused while we show this chick in Las Vegas who has Multiple Personalities. The Focus Groups just love her. "
:dazzle:

And you and me both! Be sure to stop by my Watchmen Watch Thread in chit-chat for the latest news.

OMG I love lost. I love how you never know what is going to happen, or who you should trust. I also like how they put "clues" in the episodes. Even though I never see or get them:veryconfu
Did any of you realize last night that everyone was suppose to meet at PIER 23 .... Doesnt anyone else see it...
Ben is behind the whole "are you 23" secret...:lookaroun :ROFLOL:

Wow, that's a pretty deep show for a 13 year old! Then again, when I was that age I was watching pretty adult shows like Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Tenchi Muyo, and Outlaw Star and I praise that afternoon Anime addiction for giving me a taste for more intellectual shows, books, and Movies later in life.

Wow.

Just wow.

That was an amazing episode.

ITS DANIELLE.

Love this show.

To death.

Yeah, it sure was.

I knew Danielle was coming back with a younger actress, so that wasn't so shocking ... but the fact her expedition from the late 1980s found 2004 post-frieghter-go-boom-boom Jin was a big surprise (even though I predicted he was alive last year and Michael Emerson kinda confirmed it when I spoke to him last September).

I did like the way you never knew whether it was Ben or Sun who was responsible for demanding Kate take a blood test. And then we saw Claire's mother and automatically think it's her ... but it's not.

Just love the show.

Now, let's all go back to what Servo likes to watch!:)

That's kewl. The more you do, it keeps the thread on the first page and alive ... as I generally don't go searching for threads after they grow old. Maybe we can keep this going through the end of the season.
