That's kewl. The more you do, it keeps the thread on the first page and alive ... as I generally don't go searching for threads after they grow old. Maybe we can keep this going through the end of the season.

Woo-hoo, the thread lives!

There's an awesome article on EW.com about the Season 5 and the show's ultimate end next year:
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1550612_20245769_20257373,00.html

With its sci-fi trappings, LOST is the only non-teen-aimed TV show which Disney has a major stake in that lends itself so well to a new life as a theme park attraction. Or perhaps they have Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives, Gray's Anatomy dark rides waiting in the wings?

Wow, great article.

And I agree, lets keep this thread alive for the whole season.

I agree that the show is FINALLY embracing its sci-fi geek nature. And it makes me very happy.

As I have said, I really don't watch LOST that much, but I do hear a lot of people talk about it and do hear a lot of the plot elements.

For some reason I just made a connection, or maybe it's not a connection, or maybe millions of other people have already made the connection.

anyway

It sounds to me like LOST is a lot like an adult modern day "Land of the Lost" Not the movie, the kids show.

That show had people trapped (Lost) it had odd machines in the land, it had lost civilizations, it had mutated creatures, it had people trying to get home. it had time travel, it had its own mythology, it had different "classes" of people living in the land (the Sleestack and the Pakuni). There was technology that nobody could remember how to operate (the time pylons)

Am I making any sense here, or am I way off base ?

Damon Lindlof would have been about 5 years old when Land of the Lost was on TV

Yeah, I get what you're laying down. Not alot in common, but yeah.

Maybe enough for a hi-larious mash up.

The problem is that Land of the Lost wasn't too serious, and Lost's fans are VERY serious about the show (Because as I'll tell you, The Televisions are Serious Business.) so if I were one of them I'd steer clear of loose associations too.

(Once again, no ill intent towards Lost fans, I'm not trying to rile a fight. I get where you're coming from.)

Yeah this show is great, However we already knew Jin was alive. There was a flash forward last season when Sun was giving brith and it looked like Jin was trying to get to the hosiptal with a really big Panda, and it turned out the panda was for his bosses wife....So I cant wait to find out how Jin gets off the Island and why he doesnt tell Sun he is alive?:shrug:

EpcotServo My daughter & I just checked your page, she wanted to know how old you were, and she scream at your little anime pic you had (hope you dont mind), She said thank god you werent an "Old Dweeeb".& yeah Code geass is "kinda deep." (teenagers:shrug:)

So should I be put at esae at her anime obsession since you seem like an okay kid...:lookaroun are you okay:p:ROFLOL:

18. Not an old dweeb...though somedays it feels like it.

(By the way, You kids get off my lawn!)

Like I said, when I look back at the shows I was watching as a Kid, I realize to this day that most of them are the smartest television shows out there.

I know that alot of the shows from my day had set me up for getting into deeper Books, Movies, and Music. I'd especially make sure you see the real classics too, like Cowboy Bebop. And next time you're at a Best Buy, take a look at the Disney and Anime sections for some of the Hayo Miyazaki movies Disney has released, such as "Spirited Away", "My Neighbor Totoro", and "Howl's Moving Castle". They're very much in spirit to the heyday of classic Disney Animation. (Hence why Disney and Pixar released them on DVD.)

Overall, the only other shows I watched as a Kid were mostly reruns of Mystery Science Theatre, so between those two I managed to avoid the pitfalls of Teenage Trends for the most part.

It was both a flash forward and a flash back. They put them together so you'd think Jin was buying the panda for Sun. But Jin's scenes, you find out at the end when it's for his boss - was a past scene. Pre-Island. Sun's was a forward, post-island.

If anything, the way they purposefully made you think they were the same time frame with the reveal that they were entirely different points in time, was meant to throw you even further off course on whether or not Jin was alive.

If you rewatch the episode, there are subtle clues that it's a flash back even before the reveal. Always look at things like technology in those scenes. They make a point to use older cell phones and such which help give you a clue when a scene is.

Not to mention that Jin says, at the end, 'I just got married'.

Well there's your explanation: The sooner you see a Miyazaki film, the sooner you turn into an Anime fan!
 :sohappy:

Land of the Lost was not serious, but it was pretty cool. At least for this 6 year old it was.

It wasn't camp for the sake of camp - like Batman. It was campy at times because Sid and Marty had a budget of about 37 cents to work with.

I can't wait to see more of Danielle. I was so ed when they killed her and Alex.

Yeah, I was ed too, but I realized that the cast had gotten a bit too large, and you can only have so many resolutions to characters' arcs. So, they resolved the Danielle - Alex arc, and then soon after killed them off in a way that would set Ben on a new mission. I think they accomplished it pretty well, as I was so shocked at what happened to Alex, and I could understand what Ben was feeling.

Manipulation on the part of the writers? Yes, unabashedly so. But it also made it clear that anything can go on this show, and even our favorite characters are at risk.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Why would they make an attraction based off of a non-Disney show that's going to be off the air in a few years?

Oh, wait...

American Idol Experience, anyone?

All this Land of the Lost talk is making me want to go watch some, I don't remember it extremely well...I think I grew up more with the Land of the Giants the one where they always ended up in a cage every episode.

If you're referring to Lost, it is in fact owned by Disney, as it airs on ABC.

If I understand correctly, the fact that it airs on ABC does not mean Disney automatically owns it. LOST *is*, however, a product of Buena Vista Entertainment, which is a Disney company. The show could have aired on another network and still be considered a Disney property.
