A Worse Dark Ride Than Mermaid

What's wrong with Little Medmaid? It's one of my favorite dark rides. Amazing animatronics, and great to ride to cool off and relax when it's hot. It's a pretty long ride. Plus, it's way better because it doesn't use the cardboard cutout props Roger Rabbit and the most Fantasyland dark rides use.

Most of the Fantasyland dark ride props are not made of "cardboard cutouts." I honestly think to myself, have these folks (the ones that claim the ride props are mostly made of cardboard) actually ridden these rides? They must not have, because the only dark ride in Fantasyland that has a majority of PLYWOOD (not cardboard) is Toad. Have you seen the last room of Pinocchio, for example? Methinks you have not.

Long length and high quality of animatronics don't automatically equal better, for some of us. Pan is the shortest dark ride in the resort and it is easily the most popular. Mermaid, as you said, is great for cooling off. That about does it for me. I feel like there's no substance with the ride. They tried to cram as much of the movie in the ride, and it doesn't work. If anything, it should be shortened, and some of the scenes should be replaced with another or just removed altogether (like the intro scene with Scuttle).

TLM should have been more in line with the other dark rides. Zany, creepy and fast-paced with charming details. Ursula and her sexy Ariel doppleganger trying to kill you, a corridor of blinking eyes in the wall, a shark attack in a shipwreck etc. As much as I would like the naked Ariel behind a nebula screen to stay because it is completely bizarre, no TV screens.

It kind of makes the Ratatouille dark ride look like crap. Very Mystic Manor.

Ratatouille IS crap. It badly tries to copy Spider-man using a ride system that doesn't work for what it's trying to do. But don't tell the people trying to psych themselves out about it coming to WDW.

Pooh has a charming setting. Mermaid is problematic, but ultimately my least favorite dark ride is Monsters Inc. I won't miss it in the slightest when they eventually get rid of it.

Pooh has a charming setting.

I'll give it that. The queue and loading area are very nice.

All of this talk about dark rides has me thinking that maybe Disney dark rides are somewhat overrated. Sure elaborate E tickets like The Haunted Mansion and Mystic Manor are great, but for the most part I think the idea that most fans have of the basic Disney Park dark ride has evolved into an undeserved high-level status.

Pooh may have a charming setting but once you enter the ride the whole thing goes to pot. Every time I ride it, I end up wishing the Country Bears was back.

Oh the irony.

definitely a missed opportunity as far as the Paradise Pier placement. I feel like theres a lot of opportunity for dark rides in DCA but they seem to be only interested in thrills at the moment. I guess we'll see how the rumored family marvel ride will be but IDK how you could possibly make a marvel attraction charming.

One thing that really annoys me when I'm in The Haunted Mansion about to board a sleek black-hooded Doom Buggy in this most charming section of the experience combining cobwebbed chandeliers, ice cream swirl lights, a wall of blue mist and a staircase that's a ramp is when some lady suddenly blurts out, "It's like the Ariel ride!" Every time.

There are several options of the Symbolica ride. This is the Hero version.

Absolutely gorgeously done.
Spectacular, although it does indeed have a real 'Mystic Manor' vibe to it.

This is the stunning quality that is possible.
Really wish Disney would do something on as impressive a level as this in its American Parks.
