Hello everyone,

"Mom" asked me recently how my New Year's Resolution to get into shape was coming along, and to be honest, I haven't started on that project yet.

She came up with a suggestion that I think is great, and that is to have a WDWmagic weight watcher group. It would be a great place to share ideas, and encourage one another on our quest to trim down, in a healthy, and safe manner.

So, here's to a Healthier 2002... Camelot :king:

From one New Orleanian to another, I can say that it's a great idea to have a weight watchers group. Our food down here is so good. but I have to say that I've lost a bit since the New Year and I need to go get me some pants that fit. If my cell phone is in my pocket, it pulls my pants down:eek: Encouraging everyone is a great way to keep it going! I'm in

Hi Debbie! Congratulations on dropping some weight.

I know it is time for me to do something, because I recently went looking for some blue jeans and I had to "upgrade" a size.

I mentioned to "Mom" that I am giving up chocolate for Lent...that will help, but what I need to do is exercise a lot more, and start eating healthier.

You are so right on the button about our food here, and I have to say that when I dine out, I do select "rich" foods with sauces, or fried foods, etc. instead of something on the "lighter" side, like something broiled, etc.

Well,my major effort, so far, has been to cut out alcohol and all the empty calories it contains! Marky has been losing pounds steadily; like most women, I'm more concerned with dropping clothing sizes! I'm back to my pre-holiday size...now I need to get back to pre-babies size!

My philosophy is: I don't get to eat out often so when I do Iam going to get what I want. I can eat salad at home.

Hey guys sounds good to me! I started on Jan 7th and have dropped 14 pounds so far :)

I have stopped drinking, and started the Slim-Fast diet. I am sticking to about 1200-1400 calories a day. Plus exercising 3 to 4 times a week. I am even enjoying it!!!

Wait a minute. I need to gain weight, lol. I'm ridiculously skinny. But I eat constantly and never gain a pound (females hate me for that). Can't even get a beer gut, and I drink enough for most of the people on this board, lol. :lookaroun

Here's a little tip I learned from my last diet.(18 years ago) If you think you're hungry, try drinking a glass of water first. Often, we (overweight type folks) mistake our body's signal for thrist as hunger!

Mom, I have found that really useful - someone else told me that a few weeks ago. I also find mixing carbonated water with still water stops it being a "boring" drink.

MarkyMark...Years ago, I tried "Slim Fast" and two hours after each meal, I got the "runs", if you know what I mean...

I did not realize at the time, that I was lactose intolerant, and just thought they put a laxative in the stuff !! :( and to this day, I have never tried it again, even though I could mix it with "Lacaide" milk. (Spelling??)

Oh, and I like to put a lemon wedge in a plain glass of water, it's not so much that its bitter, but just give a hint of some "taste"

MobileBadBoy: I envy your metabolism!!!

Mom: thanks for the "drinking water before a meal" tip...I know we are told that we should drink lots of water, and that doesn't sound like a hard thing to do, but when I am very busy, it isn't something foremost in my mind....

Debbie: I know what you mean...feel the same way about eating out...

TinkerBell: Welcome... (sighing) Did you say chocolate covered stuff and fancy cookies... (sighing) (whispering to self "Willpower, WIllpower, willpower")

Anyone can join our group...even you thin people must have tips for staying that way! (Well, some of you just have overactive metabolisms, but most of you really are doing something right, even if it comes naturally!) Beauty, as long as you don't start extolling the virtues of Cadbury eggs, we'd love to have you! God, please just let me get past Valentine's Day without pigging out on chocolate! ;)

Oh Lord! I forgot about Valentines Day! I better tell DH to get flowers instead of chocolate. Chocolate is definitly the gift that keeps on giving......but my waistband doesn't!

Here's a tip that helped me lose 50 pounds.

I bought 10 or 12 of those Lean Cuisene Frozen dinners. I had one for lunch each day. Then I saved the containers they came in and when our family had dinner, I only ate what would fit in those containers. They're small portions but this way you get to eat what you like. I also took the leftovers and put them in these containers and froze them so I wouldn't be tempted to raid the refrigerator at night. These frozen meals then became my future LUNCHES!

300 sit-ups a day and lots of water didn't hurt either:animwink:

I need the cheerleading section to get me thru this week. I was lucky to get thru last week without a birthday cake for my self, but this week is gonna be so tough. My son turns 7 on Wednesday and we are gonna have a little cake after my grandmother's funeral. Then there is going to be food for the wake and funeral. And I am missing two days of work so I will not get the workouts I normally get. I guess as long as I don't put 10 pounds on and have to start at square one I'll be OK. Oh and I have to bake a Racecar cake for my son's little party we are having Wednesday evening. Cake, cake , cake, I love it! And I used to work in a bakery for 18 years and decorated cakes all the time. I love sweet stuff.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie I am more than happy to offer you support, but I really don't think you wanna see me in a cheerleader outfit - it'd make a hell of a mess of my pom pom's

Seriously though, there is a real reason why you won't be able to stick to a diet too much. Just be "sensible" only eat if you really need to, not because the food is there. You can do it :sohappy:
