Trip Report A Trip of Upgrades, Pixie Dust and Unfortunate Events

Just arrived home about 24 hours ago and should be cleaning the house and finishing up laundry but wanted to share some of the magic that was our trip. As the title indicates like anything in life, this trip was filled with wonderous moments and disappointments. And Here we go....

Friday September 13th: We pulled out of the driveway right around 1pm and I was miserable. My sinuses were giving me fits and causing me the worst tooth ache I think I have ever experienced. After 4 long hours at school, all I wanted to do was sleep. And that is exactly what I did. I slept for the first 3 hours of the trip. Thankfully, my daughter was of the same opinion and she slept about the same amount of time. By the time we woke up we were starving so we stopped at our usual (McDonald's) and ate. Stretched the legs and hopped back in. We made it all the way to Valdosta, Ga that night. We probably could have made it to Orlando but my husband wanted to stop to meet up with some guys he plays Zombies with on Playstation so stopped we did. Nice hotel. I went straight to sleep. My Daughter was wide open though so it didn't last long. :)

The next morning we got back on the road and once we hit I75, we stopped. Seriously drove maybe 5 miles in an hour. We later found out that a tractor trailer had lost its entire load on the Northbound side. They had it much worse than us heading south. Not much fun though.
Finally made it to Orlando around 1pm so we went to check in to our hotel.

A really nice room with views of Downtown Disney on the 16th floor and all for under a $100. Not bad. Too bad we didn't really get to enjoy it at all.

So we make it inside and head straight to get our picture taken with Belle. She was really sweet and we got some good pics out of it. Then off to the buffet. Wasn't honestly impressed with much on it. But I do not like salmon or any other kind of the cold meats they had. I did manage to get a plate of some fruit and pastries. They were yummy.

When they finally bring us the hot plate of food, oh my goodness. The potatoes were heaven on earth. My Dad and Carl gorged themselves on bacon and sausages. I don't think it could get much better. Yummy! Cadence wasn't really interested in eating. She was on the look out for princesses. We made her eat a little and then they started to appear.

She cracked me up when the first princess appeared. It was Aurora, one of her top faves, and she was in awe. She remembers a lot from the last trip but it was like it was all new again. So much fun!

You can see in the above picture, she was starting to notice the other princesses coming in. :) So up next was Cinderella. I must say the new dresses are really pretty. I was really worried that they would be too sparkly and not authentic. Disney does an A+ job again.

Snow white was up next, but as soon as she arrived at the table the music started and it was time for the Princess Processional! She selected Cadence to carry the all important flowers. Pixie dust again! She was so proud and excited!

She was beyond ready for Snow White to make it back to our table.

And finally, she made her way back to us. She was a really pretty Snow White.

It was birthday cupcake time, for both Cadence and Carl. They were both super yummy cakes. Cadence wouldn't eat either. She was too excited about who was up next, another one of her faves, Ariel.

So we were all done eating and ready to head to MK to see the new Fantasy Land. A certain little princess didn't want to leave though. She wanted to stay and pretend that the area outside of Akershus was her kingdom. We indulged her, a little. Not for long though. After all, we had FP+ to use.

And of course, one last parting shot. We will see you again. ;)

Love seeing the early morning shots in Epcot. Cadence looks like she had a blast at Akershus. It's always so tough getting the kiddos to eat at character meals. They're just bubbling over with anticipation to meet the next character. Awesome that she got to carry the flowers during the processional :)

Hope you're feeling better and sorry to hear about teaching. Can't wait to read more :)

Oh, those photos from the princess breakfast are precious!!! Cadence is clearly very proud to have a part in the parade, and I'll bet it was her Mulan costume that won the part for her.
I thought that too. As we were leaving there was a little girl that pointed out her dress (she was of Asian decent) and asked her Momma and Daddy why she couldn't be Mulan. ;)

We did really enjoy it. It is all about the characters. It is really hard to eat being an adult and the one who always has to take the pictures. :)
I was pretty sure it wasn't for me about two weeks in. 3 year olds are hard. I tried to stick it out and by the time we were leaving for Disney I was just done. I went home exhausted after 4 hours a day and just miserable. Felt like a huge failure because I couldn't get the kids to listen or do what I needed them too. The frustration was just too much for my OCD self and I felt like the kids deserved someone much more patient. So Friday is my last day. I anticipate tears. From me mostly. :(

That is always my role unless I have to step away from the table. We actually had a few instances during this trip where the characters saw my bday button and tapped me to get up for pics. And of course I didn't like the pics b/c I would have chosen more flattering angles :p

I give you credit for trying and sticking it out as long as you did. I thought back to Sammie's pre-school teacher last year and the unbelievable level of patience she has for the 3 yr olds. It's such a tough transition year b/c you know they can do so much more than the 2 yr olds, but they don't have the attention span and response to verbal correction like you'd find in the 4 yr olds. I think I once compared it to trying to wrangle and herd a bunch of feral cats. Ok- maybe a bit extreme. Please don't be too hard on yourself...maybe it's just a matter of teaching slightly older kids?

Your description is very accurate. They cannot concentrate on any one thing for longer than five minutes and they can tune your voice out better than a man married for 50 years. I decided to quit beating myself up and just accept it. Thankfully I don't have to work, the money helped but I was doing it more for my benefit. When it wasn't benefitting me it was time to let it go.

Now just to figure out what my calling is in life. Too bad we don't live in the same place. We could open a bakery together. I could do th everyday stuff and you could do the specialty cakes. :)

It's always good when you can walk away from a situation that isn't helping you. That would be nice if we could open a bakery.:D I have a friend here who specializes in all kinds of custom cheesecakes who'd also love to be on board. My mom actually had a dream that I moved to Orlando to decorate cakes for Disney...maybe when I retire :geek: We could all retire to Orlando and then try and pick up jobs strictly for enjoyment purposes.

That's my dream except I'd be designing and sewing costumes!
