Trip Report A Trip of Upgrades, Pixie Dust and Unfortunate Events

Just arrived home about 24 hours ago and should be cleaning the house and finishing up laundry but wanted to share some of the magic that was our trip. As the title indicates like anything in life, this trip was filled with wonderous moments and disappointments. And Here we go....

Friday September 13th: We pulled out of the driveway right around 1pm and I was miserable. My sinuses were giving me fits and causing me the worst tooth ache I think I have ever experienced. After 4 long hours at school, all I wanted to do was sleep. And that is exactly what I did. I slept for the first 3 hours of the trip. Thankfully, my daughter was of the same opinion and she slept about the same amount of time. By the time we woke up we were starving so we stopped at our usual (McDonald's) and ate. Stretched the legs and hopped back in. We made it all the way to Valdosta, Ga that night. We probably could have made it to Orlando but my husband wanted to stop to meet up with some guys he plays Zombies with on Playstation so stopped we did. Nice hotel. I went straight to sleep. My Daughter was wide open though so it didn't last long. :)

The next morning we got back on the road and once we hit I75, we stopped. Seriously drove maybe 5 miles in an hour. We later found out that a tractor trailer had lost its entire load on the Northbound side. They had it much worse than us heading south. Not much fun though.
Finally made it to Orlando around 1pm so we went to check in to our hotel.

A really nice room with views of Downtown Disney on the 16th floor and all for under a $100. Not bad. Too bad we didn't really get to enjoy it at all.

We arrived at the safari and thanks to our trusty Magic Band FPs we walked right on. Love, love, love not having to wait in line! Cadence sat in between my Mom and Dad and Carl and I had a row all to ourselves. And off we went....

Another amazing safari trip! The zebra and the giraffes were close enough that I could have touched them both. Pretty awesome and way better than any zoo I say. :) We were a little while away from our next must do, The Lion King Show, but we decided to head in that general direction and try to meet with a few characters before hand.

I had to stop and take a few more photos along our path to The Lion King Show and Camp Minnie Mickey.

We walked up to get in line to see Pocahontas, but unfortunately the timing was off and she had just left to go inside for her break. So we got in line to meet some characters of an animal persuasion. My Cadence was freaked out and didn't want to meet them, but my Mom and I were more than happy to give and get some hugs...

The next character she was more than happy to meet up with so we had quite a bit of fun with good old Donald. Always fun, and despite persistant rumors quite a sweetheart.

While in line for Donald, my husband was about to have a coronary trying to get us to leave to go get in line for the Lion King. I knew the line for Donald wouldn't take long because it was large groups of people getting their pictures taken together. We hopped in line for the show and it took about two minutes to get inside to the wonderful air conditioning and welcomed bench seating. We were in the elephant section this go around on a different side.

And during the show, pixie dust....Cadence was chosen to be a part of the show! She was so excited! And so were we! So much fun!

So, now that we had our must-dos done we decided to try something new. At least my husband, my Dad and myself decided to. We had FP for Kali River Rapids and none of us had ever tried it. My mom took Cadence to watch It's Tough to Be a Bug and we walked right on to Kali. It was fun, we got wet, but it was awfully short. Met some really nice people though and the poor man who sat next to my Dad received the absolute worst of the wall of water that descended upon our raft. Note to anyone riding this ride, if you are wearing socks, do not leave your feet at the bottom of the raft. Thankfully, I had crocs on. The bar at the bottom of the raft is there for a reason. Lift your feet. :)

When we were done there we were trying to find my Mom and Cadence using the GPS app my Dad and Mom had on their iPhones. We could see they were on the move but couldn't pinpoint their exact whereabouts. My husband and I finally figured out they were inside the Tree of Life at It's Tough to be a Bug still. Finally called my Mom and got through and Cadence had freaked out right as the big spider comes down out of the ceiling. She was done. So my Mom was trying to get her out of there as fast as possible. She hadn't enjoyed it on her first trip either. She told my Mom later that day that next time we go to that park she wants to see the Lion King and that is it. :)

We had a little girl who was tired of waiting to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Thankfully we were pretty close to their new meet and greet building. Ahhhhh Air conditioning. It was nice. And we got some cute pics.

At this point, we were all hungry and it was well past noon. We decided to head to Pizzafari so we could sit in the air conditioning. Sorry Flame Tree, maybe next trip. Just wanted cool air. I had the ceasar salad and my husband had the turkey sandwich. Cadence had pizza of course. My salad was refreshing and not too overpowering and really filling. Cadence and Carl seemed to enjoy the desserts more than anything. I wasn't impressed.

After sitting for about an hour in Pizzafari we decided we weren't going to stick around for the parade and that we were gonna try to head to Downtown Disney again to get some shopping done before we headed out for the Pirates and Pals Cruise that evening. But, we still had one more FP to utilize and my husband was determined to get me to do it. I had chickened out on our last trip and on my first trip, he wasn't going to let me chicken out again. Yes, I am speaking of this monster...

As you can see the Florida skies were getting a little grumpy and we knew we were going to be in for a downpour at any moment. The wind was picking up and I felt like the fates were trying to tell me that maybe today was not my day to conquer the Yeti. My husband and my Dad were all in. My Mom, not the adventurous type. She and Cadence hung out under an umbrella table. We made our way and walked right on thanks to our trusty Magic Band FP. No excuses now. It didn't help that there was an 8 year old girl riding with my Dad who had rode the ride 5 times that day. Great a pro! I didn't mind any of it really, except for the steep incline. Something about that kind of freaked me out a bit. We got to the end of the tracks. And waited and waited. It started thundering. The wind was howling (seriously). Mother Nature was really trying to set the mood for our friend the Yeti. Finally we flew backwards! I screamed and never let go of the rail. The Photopass picture is priceless and if my parents ever send it to me I will post it. I loved it and just thought it was the best. So glad I did it and will go back again and again. :)

When we found my Mom and Cadence they had moved to a safer spot because the wind was really going at this point. We knew we needed to head immediately to the buses if we wanted to avoid the rain. We stopped along the way to have Cadence get one item of her list of to-dos as well. The all important Mickey Premium Bar.

The flood gates opened and we pulled out the umbrellas and made it to the bus stop. We froze on the bus thanks to being wet, but most of us rather enjoyed it. :) And off to Downtown Disney we went.

Ok- I'm just 2 pages in and going through extreme Contemporary envy. :D Between the tower room shots to your awesome room upgrade...MAN- JEALOUS!!! And of course, there's one shot in there that's reminding me a bit of a pic I took yesterday...so, also making me homesick.:arghh: I literally had that 'and I was just standing right there yesterday' moment. Also nice score on the hotel with the DTD view. Looks like you could also see the Epcot area from there as well. Awesome about riding Everest!!! Soooo glad Cadence was part of FotLK! Kendall and Sammie were lucky enough to be selected last trip -had such a blast  Also nice score for Cadence at pick a pearl! Gorgeous! So sad that once again- we missed out on it. Sorry about the tooth ache...my teeth always go nuts when my sinuses act up- OUCH!

Can't wait to read more!!!:)
