I've been trying to keep up with this thread. Phew!

I mentioned to Husband that by our next visit, ToT may be closed or themed to GotG and his reaction upon seeing the concept art was very positive. He thinks it's cool to mix it up. He doesn't understand cohesive themes because in his experience at the Studios, it was always a jumbled mess of a theme anyway.

He also said if it's closed for refurb, we should just skip Studios. I don't get him sometimes since thought Frozen in World Showcase is a travesty.

Yikes. I'm seeing lots of pitchforks in your future. You, too @LuvtheGoof
Better get more ready, because we rode the new Frozen ride last week, and thought it was a HUGE improvement over Maelstrom. And I don't have a problem with the placement, as I think they did it right. The exterior of that area still speaks greatly to Norwegian architecture, even in the M&G area. We always thought Maelstrom was a crappy way to portray Norway anyway.

Oh, and we loved the new Soarin' as well!!

No different that being represented by fake trolls, don't you think?
You said Maelstrom was crappy and the new ride was a HUGE improvement. So your opinion of Maelstrom being "crappy" was due to "fake" trolls being in the attraction as it did not represent the country well?

Because they are so desperate for something NEW from Disney they will accept anything at all uncritically

Winnie in the Pooh is a very good ride I think. I can't say too much about the quality of WDW Mr. Toad's Wild Ride since my memory is a bit fuzzy, but it was considered a classic ride partly because it was based on The Wind and the Willows.
I think it was a classic more because it was kind of bizarre and absurd. A kids' ride that ends with you getting hit by a train and going to hell probably wouldn't be built today. There was even a nude Rapunzel portrait in there! Like a lot of really great, classic children's entertainment it seemed a little subversive in the way that is unusual for Disney these days.

Pooh is fine, but pretty par for the course without anything to really set it apart from all the other Fantasyland rides. Considering when it was built, the store window-style sets are pretty underwhelming. A bit like Voyage of the Little Mermaid. The older Fantasyland rides seemed to have a bit more of that funhouse tinge of menace than the new ones. Perhaps it's for this reason I really like the Pinocchio ride at DL and DLP perhaps even more than Peter Pan.

Yes, I agree with that; I was thinking about it in the context of dark ride based on classic children's book and familiarity with the Disney animated one (I think it's on Netflix now); kind of like Peter Pan. I don't remember riding it as an adult? but it was a 'must-do' when we were kids. And the doors/ entrance to hell was memorable - there they go scaring little kids again!

Most of us, while we may not want it, are resigned to the fact that they don't care one whit what a small number of vocal forum members want, and will go ahead with plans regardless. So it is just a waste of my time and keyboard to constantly complain about something we cannot change. My hope is that whatever they decide, that they do it right, and don't half-**** it..
If it's such a waste then why do you do it to complain about other people's complaining? You can't change that either.
Well, the DCA fiasco was because DLR has a lot more locals and AP holders that go up in arms over even the smallest change, sometimes regardless of merit. In this case, it didn't do any good at all. In other cases, it has changed their minds.
The initial rumor was both Towers before the announcement and the reactions were equal on both.
Well, I personally don't really care for either of those rides. Didn't care for SWSA, so no loss for us when turned into a M&G - which we don't go to either. Everyone has their favorite rides and rides they couldn't care less about. Fortunately, there are enough of both of them to satisfy anyone that goes there!
I did SWSA pretty much every trip because it was a fun little ride and imo the best version of it. Since it left it does feel very odd. SDMT can't fully replace it because it doesn't come anywhere close to the amount of scenes that ride had and its overall story even if it may be more advanced. The best situation would be if the two rides were allowed to coexist. Toad was fun too when I went to DL. Makes me wish Pooh was an addition to MK's Fantasyland instead of a replacement.

It was due to all of it. And if you read, I was talking about the exterior still looking like Norway.

Neither ride was indicative of the country, nor made me wish to visit the country, but Frozen is a much better ride overall. JMHO.

I'm not complaining about other people complaining. They are free to do what they want with their time. I just stated that I won't waste my time. I do have an issue when people make stuff up to prove their point.

He has reported that the TSL expansion has been severely budget cut, with significant changes to the area - especially the coaster. Very disappointing to hear that, as the original art work looked really good. I am hoping that things change in the future, or more is added.
Aww that sucks :(. I wasn't even too impressed with the initial plans for the area, but the coaster at least looked cool.

Getting rid of Mr. Toad at MK was an improvement.
I agree, I love Pooh. It could be better (like Hunny Hunt in Tokyo) and I'm still hoping for the day we see actual animatronics in the FL dark rides, but it's still a nice attraction. I love the Mr. Toad IP, but the Wild Ride's are pretty much cardboard cutout scenery. It's time to redo and update Mr. Toad.

Never got the appeal for Maelstrom. Always dreaded going on it. As for the new Soarin', the update needed to happen, but the execution was lazy. Way too much CGI, and the screen causes the footage to be crooked. The crooked Eiffel Tower REALLY puts me off.

I'm against the ONSLAUGHT of remakes lined up. Seemingly over 15 movies are set to be remade in the coming years. But I can see where you got mixed signals.
I honestly dont mind a remake from there and here.
But like Spiderman.. they took it to ridicoulous levels.
Next decade we will have as many reboots as Superman died/lost his powers in the golden age of comics (aka every goddarn issue)
Can you imagine having 2 spiderman movies then another reboot next year.. then 3 batman reboots in 6 years..?

The middle article was about Tomorrowland, not the fantastic four. You should have tried clicking on it, not just hovering your mouse.
you mean the part where it compares tomorrowland to fantastic four and declares it the second biggests bomb? I guess reading is hard..right?

Spider-Man only got so many reboots because of the weird circumstances with the ownership rights. Aside from that, Sam Raimi trilogy beats the newer two.

Yeah, uh huh, and Abigail Disney also thinks the animated Jungle Book movie is racist. From the article:

"Racist? C'mon he made a film (Jungle Book) about how you should stay 'with your own kind' at the height of the fight over segregation!"

Abigail is an flaming left-wing extremist, and also, if you read her comments, more than a little nuts. Rumor has it she's estranged from the rest of the Disney family. She babbles what she thinks her uber-liberal friends want to hear. Regardless, the facts about Walt are at odds with her opinion of him. So yes, she's wrong.
I bet she would feel ultra welcome along the "feminist" groups in tumblr (aka nothing to do with real feminists) shouting #triggered every 5 minutes over anything.

I know, but these reboots were so close to each other.Even if they are supposed to be different universes.
Theres rumors of other "reboots" as well.
Like the new spiderman (based on ultimate? who knows if they end adding Miles Morales as well)
