It's official, Los Angeles has given the Lucas Museum the go.

Any buyer's remorse yet over killing the Tower of Terror idea at DCA?

The crowds for its final days will be memories the collector can put on his shelf right next to 20K Nautilus subs, Mr Toad's Wild Ride at WDW, the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island and what, Horizons at Epcot Center?

Although to be historically accurate, I'm not certain Mr Toad or 20K got a big sendoff as they may have been assasinated without due advance notice.
Mr Toad had a protest movement

I wonder why this only ever happened to Toad from what I recall, why not other attractions like Horizons or ATIS? Both rides had fairly large fanbases.

ATIS died years before the internet was really a thing to organize such a response. And wasn't Horizons kind of a sudden/quiet closure too?
Horizons closed quietly with people thinking it was a refurb thing. Once the signs disappeared it began to get attention. Once the ride vehicles were seen on the back of a lorry leaving WDW Horizons fans began to accept fate. I guess you're right about ATIS too, considering it died in the early 80's didn't it? Come to think of it wasn't guest relations flooded with complaints after JII closed aswell? I guess it wasn't just Toad

Or maybe some do not want the Lucas museum out shining another museum that is scheduled to open in a few years?
Except the Lucas Museum and Obama Library opening around the same time would benefit each other and tourism in Chicago in general.

It really was down to the parking lots. The Friends of the Park group was harboring the delusions that the parking lots could be turned into new green park space in the future without some new building going up in their place.

Latest MiceAge Update is saying that Disneyland has a much different strategy for the Cabana's. They are looking at unused rooftops, balconies and things, to integrate them all over the park up and out of the way.
Interesting. I hadn't heard of this trend before, but I've just been back in my hometown of Hipstertown/ Melbourne, Australia and noticed they had a similar set-up among the air conditioning vents of buildings there for stupid money as overnight accommodation. So, I guess it's kind of a thing... https://www.redballoon.com.au/produ...glamping-in-melbourne-cbd-midweek-for-2-adult

If they were offering these cabanas as accommodation, I could kind of see the appeal. Otherwise, it's still lost on me.

This is an unexpected turn of events.

So are they not rolling out a full encompassing Fast Pass + system at Disneyland now? Just an upcharge version you don't have to use. I assume if you pay you can book many different attractions you couldn't before, and if you don't pay you just use the old fast pass system on the attractions that always had them?

This actually makes sense to me. Create an upcharge to please Chapek, but not really affect the masses... And hopefully this will fix the concerns with putting fastpass on rides like Pirates which creates gridlock in Disneyland.

http://www./2017/01/paid-mobile-fastpass-service-to-be-introduced-at-disneyland-resort/

Disney just announced that for the first time ever mobile booking of Fastpasses will be coming to the Disneyland Resort. There is one caveat, though, this convenience will come with a price! Disney MaxPass–as it will be called–will offer Disneyland Resort guests the opportunity to book their Fastpass return times through the Disneyland app for the introductory price of $10 a day. Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders also will have the opportunity to purchase Disney MaxPass on a daily or yearly basis.

Who in blue blazes thought a live action 'Dumbo' would be a good idea? I can't stand Tim Burton or any of his "work", and I still haven't forgiven Will Smith for forcing his no-talent son into multiple movies, so this is an automatic dud in my book.

Well, as long as you're going into this with an open mind...
