A Spirited Valentine ...

I appologize if this has been posted already. So, there's a new trackless ride called Symbolica that opened at Efteling. It's really good, you should watch the video below.

While this video is slightly lower quality, it includes the exterior and animatronic preshow:

And guess how much it all cost? 35 million euros. That's only 40 million dollars! For this whole attraction! How much do you think this would this cost Disney?

Increase the order of magnitude by one decade i.e. 350 million euro at least!

Imagine getting something like this at ANY Disney property!

Seems like a very cool dark ride, but it's almost as if the trackless ride system is wasted. They probably could have gotten away with a busbar system for 95% of the ride.

I see what you mean. But for a slow-moving ride like this, I think a trackless system is always a plus over a busbar system simply because it feels more natural. Seeing a rail on the floor in front of you kind of hurts the immersion. So even if it were designed for, and could've been done 100% with, a busbar... I am happy with trackless.

It does have 3 different versions. There are 11 show scenes and each ride goes through 9 of the 11 scenes based on the version they get, at least from what I have heard. The variation makes good use of the trackless system.

I disagree, I actually like how the trackless system is used. They even did a behind the scenes video on that to.

(Turn on subtitles to understand what they are saying since the video is in Dutch)

My favorite is the interactive section that has guests playing the tune of Pardoes Promenade (Which serves as the theme to Pardoes and Efteling in general)

You know what's funny?
It boggles my mind how that ride was built with such a small budget. Seriously, what the hell.

maybe it breaks after a year? lol, j/k. I dunno. Maybe sometimes when you have small budgets, you carefully consider where you spend you money. For example, it looks like their money was spent more on the ride system and some nice special effects rather than the AAs (which don't seem to be that high tech) and a bunch of highly sophisticated moving parts. It works though. It looks like a nice ride!

You should see the preshow for Baron 1898

They even made a video that gives backstory to the ride.

Now that I think about it, I remember Efteling made a TV Series set in Symbolica years ago that might had been a test for people in The Netherlands to be interested in the ride. I remember the attraction first got announced back in 2011 the same year the show was airing on Nickelodeon in The Netherlands. The show basically gives a backstory to how Pardoes become a Wizard outside of being a magical jester.

The episodes would late get uploaded on the official Youtube channel for Pardoes last year.

To be fair, Efteling has a different way for designing their AA's. While the AA's found at various attractions in the park and have limited movement they do have charm to them.

Also Efteling is known for taking good care of their attractions. Some are even closed during the winter seasons such as De Vliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchman) since it snows over there.

Spookslot is pretty rad, too.
Imagine the graveyard and ballroom scenes of the Haunted Mansion combined into one giant tableux and presented as a long, standing effects show, like Backdraft or Poseidon's Fury at Universal.
