Something I that I doubt OFA will fix, but hope will be changed for the Frozen musical (that I hope Jonathan Groff will at least originate the role in) or Frozen 2- an actual solo for Kristoff that isn't about reindeer. Groff has too nice of a voice to just sing bit parts.
The Frozen Broadway cast has been released for some time none of the original actors have anything to do with the project and the casting choice of Kristoff is actually really cool for the stage version! As for Kristoff singing that will be amended in both the stage version and the sequel film. So you have that to look forward too!

If it were up to people like us, the ride wouldn't run unless all show scenes were in perfect working order. But given the reality of the parks, I guess no Rhino is better than a dead rhino.

Pre-Iger Yes the ride would be 101 for the rest of the day, When the park closed the technicians from the AA shop would repair the failed AA and the next morning it would be repaired. Fast forward to now major AA goes 101, scrim dropped over it, Then TDO checks to see if they have budget to repair if so Legal spends 3 months hammering out a contract with Garner-Holt to repair it. And maybe we get AA FIXED in 4-6 months

Just looked it up (had only read an announcement about Anna & Elsa). I had a feeling that most of the original cast wouldn't reprise their roles, but had a slight hope for Groff  The cast sounds good! Looking forward to see how Disney interprets the film on stage!

Continuing proof that you don't understand how things worked then or now.

I have no doubts it will be done well. Is it supposed to replace Aladdin on Broadway? Aladdin was SO well done on Broadway I really don't care much for Frozen going to Broadway LOL

EDIT: It's going into the St. James Theater, so not replacing Aladdin

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I don't really don't see Lion King or Aladdin leaving Broadway right now. Not only are they great shows (haven't seen Aladdin, but have watched performances), but both are such diverse productions that showcase a lot of talent. The only time I think that they could leave is shortly before movie remakes come out (2019 for Lion King; idk what the year for Aladdin will be).

In 2012, Disney had 3 musicals on Broadway- Newsies, Mary Poppins, and Lion King. A 'Lion King, Aladdin, Frozen' trio in 2018 would do gangbusters for Disney.

Lion King:
  • Based on an Academy Award and Golden Globe winning movie: Best Score (AA & GG), Best Song- 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' (AA) and 'Best Movie- Musical or Comedy' (GG)
  • 3rd longest running musical in Broadway history
  • Highest grossing Broadway musical ever
  • won 6 Tonys including Best Musical
  • Grammy winning cast album
Aladdin:
  • Based on an Academy Award and Golden Globe winning movie: Best Score (AA & GG), Best Song- 'A Whole New World' (AA & GG); Robin Williams was given a Special Achievement GG for the film
  • 4th longest running Disney musical on Broadway (behind Lion King, BatB, and Poppins)
  • Tony winning musical- Featured Actor in a musical for James Monroe Iglehart
Frozen:
  • Based on an Academy Award and Golden Globe winning movie: Best Song- 'Let It Go' (AA & GG), Best Animated Film (AA & GG)
  • Incredibly popular franchise now, I really don't need to write anything else to support the argument
  • Robert Lopez & Kristen Anderson-Lopez are writing the new songs (yayyy, let's get Kristen closer to her EGOT)

Don't forget they also had Little Mermaid and Tarzan which both didn't do as well as hoped though. Now with Fox and Paramount and all the other studios turning movies into musical I don't think Disney will have it as easy.

Little Mermaid is one that should have been better, but I read the Broadway version and listened to the soundtrack, and it's a bit of a convoluted mess. As much as I love Hunchback, I'm a little glad it didn't make it to Broadway, because I think it still had some issues, and I didn't want to see it go the way of the Little Mermaid. Apparently Pinocchio has been adapted for the West End and will start sometime this year, so that should be an interesting production.

I have a lot of faith in the creative team for Frozen. The Lopez duo has a lot of prior success, so I have no doubt that they'll make something wonderful.

So in two days will mark the one year anniversary of the opening Shanghai Disney Resort. I still remember how many news channels in the US were hyping up the place until opening day then the park finally opened and the media completely forgotten about it. In fact it hasn't been talked about that much since then.

Little Mermaid definitely should have been better. I think Frozen will be popular enough in the short term.

I mean Spongebob is getting a spot on Broadway! Lol
The Little Mermaid was very disapointing. Criminally underused it's potential.

They redid and made the production better before it went on U.S. tour and came to Atlanta, but we saw it and it was purely mediocre. Pales in Comparison to Jersey Boys or Phantom of the Opera.

Hunchback should be very dark and eery, Hard PG-13 or more type of show. They obviously killed it with the soundtrack and improved upon the at times cheesy movie, but it definitely was not ready for broadway.

I would love them to make a musical about Walt Disney, give Hunchback justice, or make The Princess and The Frog reignited with energy.

I'm sure Frozen will be great, but those 3 musicals have potentially a far stronger staying power.

I can see the headlines now:
"BREAKING NEWS: Theme Park In Another Country Still Open!!"

I do not see much difference in McDonalds and Cosmic Ray's offerings.. Infact, I find Cosmic Rays to be a downgrade food wise.
He was blaming Iger for the "mallification" of the Disney parks. I was just pointing out that it started with Eisner and the McDonalds deal. Food quality really isn't relevant. Most people agree that Starbucks is far superior to the previous coffee offered too. It's the loss of unique Disney offerings which are replaced with generic chain options that is their complaint.

Yeah, brownies, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls. All things I only ever find in Disney bakeries ;)
