You haven't driven by Volcano Bay yet, have you?

I am not denying Volcano Bay will be visually striking for a water park, but in reality, there is absolutely NOTHING that will drive me to buy a ticket to that place. OK, maybe free beer, pizza and being asked to judge the Miss Volcano Bay contest could persuade me to pass through the gates. . .

3. It was really bad and didn't make much sense.

This probably doesn't help much. Pirates 5 has a budget of $315 million. Johnny's salary for Pirates 4 was $55 million (budget was $250 million). With the exception of Fantastic Beasts 1 and Into the Woods (his roles amounted to cameos), Johnny has had very little luck at the box office lately.

While On Stranger Tides wasn't a flop by any means, it came out nearly 6 years ago, and in a stacked year like this, everybody at Disney has got to be hoping that people still love Pirates of the Caribbean more than everything that's in theaters that weekend.
My guess- Pirates will have the #1 spot at the box office, but Guardians will be a close second.

Wait, what??? Do mine eyes deceive me? Are you actually saying you now believe WDW is building a Star Wars Land? Be still my heart. Of course, I believe you also stated Disney would cease to exist in 2016, or was it 2017? 2018? 2019?

As for finishing "On-Time", I believe Iger gave it a rather large runway. Any date between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 could be considered on time. I think there were quite a few here who lined up the next few years correctly (2017 - Pandora, 2018 - TSL, 2019 - SWL, 2020 - Epcot Projects (one maybe sooner), and 2021 - MK projects. That does not include the many changes / improvements expected prior to the 50th. I had hoped the new nighttime parade may fall into this schedule sooner rather than later, but I am hearing late 2020 or early 2021 is more likely. Still, one could hope. . .

Also, with your Uni Now comment, King's Island up here in Ohio pretty much builds something new every year (What is in the shed?) but you will never here my compare their schedule to Disney's. It is melons and cherries.

Iger SAID there would be a SWL at DHS, Taking that at face value,..

That being said it still does not make me think that Wall Street will necessitate a change of plans for DHS especially since Disney now bought DLP which has been a drain on the company coffers since forever and DLP sucked all the cash out of WDW back in the late 90's to fix issues,

So I think we can say BUH-BYE to that 3.5 Billion for DHS and maybe DHS gets 1B or so. We get TSL and new parking and that's it and 'Coming Soon' Signs for DHS SWL. while the tumbleweeds and kudzu vines take over the area platted for SWL.

To me PoTC 5 trailer left me cold lots of CGI skeletons and not much FUN,

Let's face it PoTC 1-3 were probably the most enjoyable episodes of the series i.e pirates doing pirate stuff, Swashbuckling, chasing legendary treasure, fighting the British Navy, fighting and drinking too much rum....

For me, it's limited to 1 & 2. IMO, 3 tried to do too much, and 4 just wasn't as enjoyable. 3 and 4 were really missing all of the fun that the first two had.

Will I see 5? Of course I will, Orlando Bloom is back in it (I can admit that I am sometimes easy prey for Disney).

I've watched part 3 at least 6 or 7 times, and I'm still not sure exactly what's happening. The whole switching loyalties back-and-forth thing made my head hurt.

If you liked PoTC try this and see where the inspiration for Cap'n Jack came from especially the acrobatics.

Because demographics. The older generation that knows of TZ and didn't get into the superhero movies will die off. Next generation will know of MCU as much as they know Star Wars and Potter because there will be more GotG Movies and they will get more eyeballs than TZ would ever have had.

If you think billion dollar Marvel Cinematic movies are just a trend and Disney will let them fade from memory... can I introduce you to some 70 year old princesses?
My issue at this point isn't the debate between TZ and GotG. It's the fact that thing is plain ugly and looks like some 5 year old put the model together. Now that I see the piece of it shown to the public it's even worse then I could of imagined. They could of come up with a better way to change the outside then a damn ugly space warehouse.

I think I've only seen Pirates 3 three times. This is what I remember:
  • Jack hallucinates and sees... more Jacks
  • Elizabeth becomes the Pirate King
  • Keith Richards is in it (side note- that man will somehow outlive us all)
  • 75% of the characters die
  • Continuity says 'screw it' and even though Elizabeth is faithful to Will for 7 (or was it 10?) years, he's still cursed.
Did I miss anything?

Good insight.

Every few years I take a trip to Knoebel's Grove in Elysburg, PA to remind myself of how things used to be. No air gates. Lap bars fit extremely loosely. Parking is free. Rides are individually priced and ticketed. It's so refreshing.

On that subject, Knoebels added air gates to the Phoenix last summer. Would need to return to see how things slowed down, but when even Knoebels add them...

i would view it as crazy vs crazy
good tv right there

After you've done budgets in corporate america for a couple decades with the constant drumbeat of 'you must reduce expenses at all costs' perhaps you will understand why I write the things I do. In corporate america serving Wall Street is valued FAR above serving your customers,

It's a major reason why Dell and others went private again because doing what's best for a companies customers and doing what's best for Wall St are contradictory at times.

Ah, Frank. You'll be the last one to shut the lights out on this MAGICal site when its time is over......

...
Bad rumor that started on this site that I had nothing to do with.

Sometimes we agree, other times we don't.

Sometimes forget where I am. I will let myself out of your thread.

In other TWDC news Pewdiepie bounced from YouTube, Yeah that half billion in cash that Iger blew on Maker Studios and Pewdiepie was a BRILLIANT investment, Imagine what that $500 million could have done for WDW or DLP...

Disney's incompetence in Internet and other new media is simply breathtaking.
Wow. You have millions upon millions of people watching your videos, including children, and that's what you pull?

Disgusting.
