TDA seems to value the little things far more than TDO---cleanliness, show quality on attractions, added entertainment perks. Hope TDO execs take note. It's really okay to disappoint guests by having a regular maintenance schedule of attractions like TDO seems to have.
That's the perfect summation of the differences between the two coast. I'm surprised someone as money hungry as Chappie would know enough to notice or care.

that money would never end up going to the employees...and the specific napkins are all part of the details... Some people notice others don't... Why bother with theming at all? Why have attraction-specific uniforms? Restaurant-specific menus or china?.....Knock out the details and you have a Six Flags park...though I think they have printed napkins too...
The napkins as so often lamented are typically anti-details. They break the theme by drawing attention to the externality which contains them. A wrk themed land considers itself real and is unaware of being part of some large enterprise.

seems as though SP:GG will return. Interesting enough, TOT isn't mentioned although its usually thrown in with the other two as a halloweentime attraction...a bit telling.
Theyre getting the horseman...but very carefully worded as to whether theres a parade. New, old, electrical or other.

And no Hocus Pocus. Theyve parked Mickey and Minnie in the same spot in the same outfits at their party for 6 years, whatever will they do...let them greet on the bulldozed trail?

I can tell you where you won't find my butt this fall. Mickey's Halloween Party. Can't wait to see the prices they release for a laugh. The horseman is a move in the right direction, but on its own, not near enough.

In comparison, Tokyo Disney creates a brand new parade (in addition to the regular day and night parades), decor package and a brand new harbor show every year for Halloween, all without an extra upcharge ticket. HKDL manages to change up their overlays and entertainment each year as well.

Florida special events bought HKDLs Halloween and Christmas overlays from 11-12 so they'd have something "new"

If a napkin imprinted with the Polynesian Village logo makes you realize you're not in Polynesia after all....well, you've snorted waaay too much pixie dust (or possibly some other powder).

Lego has been in DTD for what, 20+ years? It's weathered good times and bad times already and is a good fit. The brands that will have a harder time are places like Art of Shaving, Chapel Hats, Kate Spade, etc. Luxury brands, apparel and accessories in particular. Their presence in DS is aimed at international guests, and there are a lot less of those now and for the foreseeable future.
When you consider how department stores like Nordstrom or Macy's carry many of the DS store brands and include them in seasonal clearance sales, it's even harder to justify blowing money in the new Disney shopping district.

I've heard their poor excuse for a Halloween parade will return this year and that the Paint The Night Parade will not be presented with the party.

I never understood why having park, hotel and attraction specific napkins was so important. It seems like a silly waste of time, energy and money to have any printed napkins. Spend the time and money on employee salaries, benefits and recruiting.
It adds to the experience. People want to be totally immersed and these little things all contribute to that. @KevinYee coined the phrase, "declining by degrees" and it's how the overall experience has been worsened.

Im wondering if there is a parade. The procession of fiends could be the horse and carriage thats been bringing the villains to Town Square.
Ride of the Headless Horseman at Mickey’s Halloween Party
Heads Up!
A black stallion is trotting through the heart of Disneyland Park with a headless rider at the reins.

The Headless Horseman has risen from the shadowy depths of Sleepy Hollow to herald the arrival of a procession of frightfully delightful fiends down Main Street, U.S.A. And just as the creepy legend foretells, this eerie Halloween spirit silently holds a flickering jack-o-lantern to light his way—in search of a new head to call his own.

Please note: Ride of the Headless Horseman is exclusively available to Guests attending Mickey’s Halloween Party, taking place on select nights during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. A separate admission ticket is required for this special party event.

Very true and Disneyland has never had a real Halloween parade. I think they have referred to it in the past as a cavalcade. I wouldn't expect anything major.

At least things will remain consistent with Steven Spielberg and his very odd relationship with Disney as The BFG is turning into another disaster for Disney, and one they anticipated and helped bring about.
**snip**
It's all about making sacrifices.
This film was a Frankenstein's monster of the worst order! Five separate companies produced this bomb: Disney, Walden, Amblin, Reliance, and Kennedy/Marshall. (Six, actually, if you count Dreamworks as the copyright holder.)

I pretty much lost respect for P&R/WDI long ago. And now I'm thinking the studios are next in line.

WTH is wrong with Burbank? Spirit is spot on, regarding the "sacrifices" part. This is how they manage their film portfolio. But come on! This isn't Illumination! Every single one of these films costs well north of $100 million. Each! And yet, there's this prevailing attitude that some of those films are worthy of sacrifice at the box office altar!

What an unbelievably short-sighted vision for the long-term health of a business that's 100% dependent upon perceived value. :greedy:

No wonder TDO has the same stupid mindset when it comes to WDW! :banghead:

Hard to get excited about this. Disneyland Resort being a little bit cleaner doesn't fix creative bankruptcy.
Well said, this is an almost unavoidable issue. While I'd think it be great if WDW starts focussing on the little things again like DL does, Disney's attraction slate on both coasts is definitely concerning. Ironically enough, I think DL currently has the worst end of the bargain in this respect with SWL taking up nearly a 1/4th of the park's land and GotG taking over ToT. When all is said and done, both coasts have bigger issues ahead that local manganent improvement cannot fix alone.
