I will not be commenting on developments in China for a while. Sorry. :)

Not commenting on developments in China, who do you think you are? Bob Iger?

You know, I take back everything I implied about you being Bob Iger. All you've done in the last few days is talk about China and if you were really him, you'd make all this discussion disappear. My what a difference a few weeks (and a catastrophic blunder of abuse of power) can make.

I'm going to wait for the ABC Family channel after school special: Bob Iger and the Case of the Missing Op-Ed. Better try to snatch up the Scooby-Doo IP while they still can so they can blame Old Man Jenkins for hitting delete on the article. "I would've gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling Internets"

The follow-up Iger Mystery Machine special has promise too: The Weatherman and the Missing $800 million. Maybe it will turn up inside a hidden compartment in a Magic Band?

As to Lady Gaga - she is one of the few genuine talents in today's music industry which seems to favor blond haired brown eyed dancers who can lip sync. Or alternatively Kidz from da Hood with enough metal and illegal weapons to set off every metal detector in your average airport.

And no I did NOT watch the Oscars had work to do instead.

Don't tell that to Kanye! He seems think the only female "talent" today is Lady-B... :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Kanye's only remaining talent is to disrupt award shows with his juvenile antics.

Here, here! Except you assume he had any talent to begin with.

Lady Gaga is actually a very good singer, great songwriter who can bridge several genres and do it successfully. All the over-the-top BS was marketing to get her name out there.

OK, I lied. I'm back. Back because I truly feel that something huge is going down as Bob and Willow sit at the Dolby listening to Mary Poppins.

Two stories. Two puff PR pieces designed to counter the HuffPo piece and make SDL seem like it is going to be huge and the best thing next to sliced bread:

http://www.fool.com/investing/gener...n-little-to-disneys-earnings-this-segmen.aspx

Why? Why two stories on the same subject? Why two stories on the same subject in 48 turmoil filled hours that read like propaganda?

Oh, and the author is someone who clearly carries the weight of a Redstone who advises clients in China on western media/culture. What does he really do for a living? He's an acrobat (albeit with an MBA) for a Macau casino.

I swear this story just keeps getting more bizarre. Maybe Disney will make a movie? Oh yeah, they only do $200 million tentpoles that are franchises.

The whole thing is bizarre. You normally don't get to see corporate politics play out openly and when they do break the surface into the real world, PR folks diligently work to smooth things over. Everything here feels fumbled.

Yes Lady Gaga is one of the only true creatives in the industry, The over the top stuff was in itself very creative in it's own right. One of the best ever Weird Al parodies was 'Perform This Way' it's on par with 'Fat' and 'Eat It' but of course Michael was also truly creative and Al's best work has always started with great material.

ESPN's value at this point would eclipse Viacom's. It isn't going anywhere unless they buy the Hearst's share.

True but if VIACOM can crash DIS everything's in play, I think we are going to see a really nasty corporate war and it will be interesting to see who the players are, I very much doubt that VIACOM is doing this alone, They are the vanguard in the opening shots of the war.

Just imagine a VIACOM TWC merger - we now would have another company which controls both content creation and wired distribution and Internet. Leaves DIS in a dark lonely place does it not???

I would suspect in a recent Burbank Senior Management meeting something like this was said....

"I, uh she, um, got rid of that Huffington Post piece on China. Now can we do the same to WDW1974 and close down the wdwmagic site?"

Speaking of the Oscars, why the heck wasn't Interstellar nominated for best picture? Gravity was nominated in its year, why not this which was way better?

Because the cokeheads who make up the so called 'Academy' did not see any familar faces and science is boring...
Cute... but no.

The best picture nomiees are determined by the entire Academy. Each member of the academy must list five films they believe are deserving of nomination for best picture. The films with the highest percentage of the total votes cast in the process, as long as the top voter getters reach a benchmark determined by the Academy, will be nominated for best picture. The Academy is far from perfect, it is an institution made up of people after all, but a harsh blanket statement was not appropriate.
