Iger and Staggs are attending the Allen & Co.'s annual Sun Valley conference. A who's who of industry titans. Zuckerberg, Rupert Murdoch, Tim Cook, Elon Musk, and Ted Sarandos are among some of the other attendees. Would love to be a fly on that wall.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2015/07/06/musk-iger-murdoch-allen-co-san-valley/29794609/

At the conference, Iger was asked about the upcoming competition they will have in the comic book movies from DC and Warner Bros. Igers arrogant response...."We're Marvel"

He also said, "...when the Marvel brand is on a movie, it really makes a difference. We are seeing signs of that."

Thats funny, I wonder how he feels about the "Disney brand" being on a movie after flops like Lone Ranger, Tomorrowland, John Carter, etc. What kind of signs are they seeing from that?

When it comes to superhero movies, Marvel has nothing to worry about. It may be brash and arrogant but they're also right.

DC/Warner can't seem to get their crap together.

Fact: The University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is more popular than the MLS.

(Someone decided to play the 'manipulate the data' game. Someone chose poorly)

Yes my collage team is popular.... but soccer is growing and growing at a faster clip then MLB, NHL and NBA in this country.... It is a great sport and a great sport to watch and it is exciting it is getting some love and the Premier league is now on every Sat and Sun so you get good games!! But that is all that can be said about it... It won't catch viewing or attendance of these other sports anytime soon in the US

Yes, we get that. We also get that Soccer fans are the "Universal Fanbois" of the sporting world.

Alas when someone makes an outlandish statement saying that the MLS is more popular than NBA/NHL - which is what started this - and play the "Manipulate the Data" game, its not going to end well.

So, as I went to bed last night the markets in China were in total freefall. Apparently, close to three trillion in 'value/wealth' were lost. A great story (I think it was Bloomberg, don't have it handy) on China basically losing their middle class.

Today, what happens? Our markets open like everything is normal. And then we start dropping and ... and ... I guess the NYSE has the same technology issues that a tech rube like myself (to quote friends on the PML) because suddenly trading stops. We are now one hour and 25 minutes into the halt.

If ''it's just a glitch'' works for others, then why not use it on Wall Street?

I love the naive who don't understand the amount of puppeteering that goes on in our world.

Okay folks, way off-topic but what the hell is happening on Wall Street?

China based cyber attack, but thats just speculation. The good times in China are over, they are going to crash, and crash hard, like Wall Street did in the 20's. Kind of makes those two beautiful Disney parks in China look a little like possible future fodder.

Oh ... and a public death threat on the Twitter from the moron in Celebration who thinks that Anna, Elsa and Olaf are real. May have to have the authorities talk to his mommy and daddy because their 'special boy' is really out of control. He gives special needs people a very bad name.

Maybe they'll sell Bob the opportunity to take a picture in Shanghai.

Losing the middle class is losing the people destined to visit those new Disney parks. The lower class can't afford toilet paper let alone a park hopper.

Don't forget the glitch at United Airlines and the Wall Street Journal as well.

Just like the soccer haters get rallied up anytime someone says soccer is gaining in popularity.... Both sides equally evil in my experience,,,

Who the hell cares just enjoy the damn sports you enjoy.

I actually like soccer. Especially the French women's team.

What I cannot abide is people manipulating data and then yelling "facts are facts"

Data can be manipulated in so many ways that is always show your argument is right. I can get numbers to do what ever I want... You can always find a stat to prove your point in any argument.

I think what people forget is that one game, considered more of an event in the states, having bigger ratings than other sports has happened before and the soccer growth that's alway's talked about never pans out. Soccer creeps up every few years here, whenever its an American team and they're good and competing against other countries. Its more about America than the sport, IMO.
