I thought that was the Tonys.

Oh no, they are really too long and boring so we just pretend to. Those only get watched by straight couples who do everything they can to not admit they are bored to tears because they think it makes them seem more progressive.

Quick MK Blackout Breakdown for 2014.... And right now, I'm only looking at Maingates at the MK.

153 Days of the year, 42%.

July was the worst. 28 of 31 Days, 90%.
February had no blackout days.

But lets ask ourselves this.... was it Blacked out and Not Busy?

Sometimes.... yes. 25% of the time it was an average or below crowd, 5 & under. (39 times) Out of those 39 times, 14 times (9%) was a crowd level 3 or below. 10 Times it was a crowd level 1/2, evenly split 5 & 5. So 6.5% of the times a CM's maingate was blacked out, it was CLEARLY uncalled for.

A majority of the time, it was. 75% (114 times) crowds were Above Average (6+). But translating that to the proposed Tiered pricing.... Cast were blacked out 101 times (66%) of the time on what would be an average day.

But out of all of the blackout dates, all 153? Only 25% of the time (38 times) was it a day with peak attendance (8+)

My conclusions? Out of the days Disney chose to blackout, only 25% of the time it was warranted as a peak crowd showed. 6.5% of the time it clearly was not, as nobody showed (1/2 level). The rest of the time? I suppose that all depends on WHY Disney is blacking out the cast.

Edit: 50% (?!!?!?) of this year was blacked out. 82 days.

Sources: Blackout Days, Disney. Crowd Data? Touring Plans. Methodology? 1-3 defined as Off-Peak, 4-7 as Average, 8-10 as Peak.

I wouldn't get that excited for Star Wars opening weekend numbers yet. You forget its coming out in the holiday season which means people are going to push it back to when they go see it because of travel, budgeting for gifts, east coast weather which affected Avatar's opening weekend in december due to a blizzard, etc....however it will have strong sales through the following weeks into January and internationally Star Wars has been weak compared to domestically so the audience particularly in China etc can't be assessed. However should do extremely well in the European market as long as Disney doesn't cause problems with small business owners and no extremely bad weather.

Whoa...the final tally for Jurassic World is in. It's amazing. And 61% of the audience over 25...

Ladies and gentleman, I give you a glimpse of what the future holds for Star Wars...

intersting article
Couple things come to mind
1. most of the top grossing movies of all time have a 30/70% split between domestic and international totals, star wars movies have historically been 50/50 domestic and international
2. also JW was pretty evenly split between guys and girls, start wars is pretty heavy boy centric

it will be interesting how star wars does with the mouse pushing it

correct, most holiday movies last longer but don't have near the opening weekends that summer movies do

So true. I hope you end up giving it a chance though. Who knows, maybe his adventure will inspire the older you in a different way. :)

Just to allay your fears - Chewie has aged, just that shot didn't really show it (I think they were trying to downplay Harrison's appearance, frankly) - he definitely has some silver fur going on, etc. Just don't go googling for pics because there is a potential spoiler out there you'd likely come across, LOL. (And I have as much affection for him as the other characters at this point - to know all the things Peter Mayhew has gone through, especially the past few years, it's absolutely amazing that he was able to do it. Literally brings a tear to my eye - I'm so happy he's getting to do this all over again, more than any other of them, he deserves it and never got to really experience like they did the first time.)
Thank JJ. He is the reason Mayhew got to do it. The chewie standing shots are all another actor. He brought in Mayhew for the seated shots. That's how much JJ cares about this movie. He put his heart into this thing and I guarantee everyone will see it. I am however worried about the follow up films. I really hope Disney doesn't burn everyone out like they did with poor Joss.

Dont forget what Staggs said in that WSJ article about how they were planning an attraction before the movie hit theaters. What a crock of pooh. Im sure at some point when EVERY Disney movie is being made that talk of an attraction comes up at some point, but for Stags to act like they knew it was going to be a huge hit and they were planning it all along is ridiculous. They will just do the same thing for any other movie that becomes a mega blockbuster. They will drag their feet until they feel enough money has been made, then build something quickly (2 years by Dis standards) and then act like it was planned out.

They are so timid with their own product yet when it becomes successful they act like they never doubted it. It makes me sick, I dont even wanna look at his face! *punches magazine stand

I wish someone would ask Staggs what exactly they were planning... when the Disney store couldn't keep their shelves filled with product... The company had such little faith that they didn't even have merchandise, let alone attractions planned! They had that tiny 1 room meet and greet shoe horned into a Norway merch shop - yet this is the Disney Parks that already had an attraction lined up.

It might be a bit more believable if they had something akin to the Milan Parade, the Herculean parade, the lion king parade... how disney used to support its film releases in parks.

Inside Out got a button at the 24 hour day. Woop!
