A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

I recently stayed at Westgate over on Turkey Lake. Somehow ended up in a King Sized bed room with jacuzzi, kitchenette, and fantastic view. Great service. Horrible parking.

Highly recommend if you can get a deal. Far beyond anything I've ever gotten at Disney.

Westgate Lakes is hit or miss in regards to service. Last year we came back to our rooms to see the maid rummaging through our stuff after hanging out at the pool. But still room wise a much better deal than Disney with the amount of room and space you get for the price.

The drivers are more insane all the time. A new FL habit is if you are in the wrong lane and the light is green, you just sit there, even if traffic is coming up on you at 50 MPH. It is effing crazy. And I saw it on at least half a dozen occurrences, a few where I had to narrowly miss the moron and beep the horn and gesture ...

In March up my way on I-4 north of Orlando, state troopers and local departments joined up and started cracking down on people driving aggressively and speeding. Within the first month they made something like 500 traffic stops. Now, SOUTH of O-town where most of the out of towners are? That's a different story. I think it's an amalgamation of a) terrible drivers, b) elderly, and c) the contingent of out of towners who bring their local driving habits with them*. I've noticed a ton of people here either drive at EXACTLY the speed limit or 5-10mph UNDER it. Then you have people that hit 90-100mph.

But really I'd say from maybe Longwood to De Land or Orange City, I-4 is riddled with cops, both in cars and (I'm not kidding) Motorcycle cops hiding in the tree lines. Very hard to see

*Granted, my habits are Philly based so they're a little aggressive, but your mileage may vary

As good a place as any to put this. I'm actually surprised it hasn't been mentioned here at all to my knowledge. New MagicBand designs, including closed attractions.

How long until the ever popular EPCOT Center is included? With every addition to their line of making money off of nostalgia of past attractions I can't help but look back on buying that Maelstrom T with a twinge of regret for feeding the beast.....
Yep, they're bastardos.

The "if we can dream it, then we can do it" line was written by Tom Fitzgerald for Horizons. That image you included is just bunk. It even messes with the "started by a mouse" line.

Walt said the same kind of thing, just not in so many words...I'm not sure of the exact quote that Walt did say right now though.

Edit: Found it:

"All our dreams can come true — if we have the courage to pursue them."

How disconnected from reality is my old pal, George Kalogridis?

Here's a message to WDW's CMs from The Head Queen of the Kingdom:

A Message from George: Crafting Memories, Creating Dreams
May 13, 2016 in Walt Disney World
For several years now, Walt Disney World has been investing in steps to further elevate the Guest experience. We are not setting our sights on simply raising attendance; rather, we are concentrating on making certain that every Guest has an unforgettable experience—one that vastly exceeds expectations. It’s what Walt was talking about when he said, “… quality will win out.” And it remains true today.
In fact, this week, we’ve demonstrated it.
Last night, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, we hosted the Closing Ceremonies for Invictus Games Orlando 2016—the world’s premier adaptive sports competition for wounded, sick or injured armed services personnel and veterans. During the four days of competition, athletes from 14 nations competed in sports ranging from wheelchair tennis, rugby, and basketball to swimming and track and field … and in doing so engaged the hearts of an entire world. If you witnessed the competition in person or on ESPN, you undoubtedly were inspired, and perhaps shed some tears of pride. And the venue we prepared for this event was absolutely world-class—a fitting tribute to the heroism of the competitors.
Add to this that, in just two days, we at Walt Disney World will—for the first time—have all four neighborhoods open in our retail, dining and entertainment district. We will also reveal the heart and soul of that district—the springs for which it is named. When completed, Disney Springs will double the number of shops, restaurants and other venues for guests to explore, resulting in more than 150 establishments. And all will exist in an amazing location that speaks to the site’s backstory—from The Ganachery, where items suggest the shop’s “roots” as a pharmacy, to Morimoto Asia Restaurant, where conveyer lines of bottles and a rooftop sign hint that the building once bottled spring water.
Within these venues, that great Guest experience was delivered—and will be delivered—thanks to the spirit, vision and indomitable, can-do attitude of one of the most amazing groups of people on earth: the Cast of Walt Disney World Resort.
Your hard work, dedication and willingness to go above and beyond do us proud. They did so with a major event that had the attention of royalty and former heads of state. They do so as we unveil the newest neighborhood in a shopping, dining and entertainment district that will soon welcome literally millions of Guests. And they are evident in the way that our Guests love this very special place.
If you have been reading these messages for a while, you know that I usually close them with a call to action. This week, my call is this: be proud of what you have done and be proud of what you are doing. Few organizations in the world could pull off what you accomplish so seemingly effortlessly. Even fewer concentrate so intensely on the Guest experience, and that is a very big part of what makes Disney … Disney.

George needs to visit the real bathrooms in Disney, it's not exactly what Walt said his bathrooms will be so clean, the guests could eat off the floor. (Only if you want e-coli)

There was a 'Figment' related Band released last year if i am remembering correctly...with current artwork.

It is clear Marketing at least seems to understand that 'nostalgia' sells.
I have to question however if they fully understand one of the main reasons for why that is - a clear yearning from the many who long for that type of Theme Park experience again.

People who remember what WDW was like as the pinnacle of Themed Entertainment are the ones who primarily buy this stuff i would wager, particularly recent 'retro' EPCOT Center merch.

The quality, showmanship, creativity, execution, spirit, inspiration, cleverness, and clearly defined 'wow' factor of yore.
The 'WED Way' of presentation.
Not the 'Now-a-days' way of presentation.

As Marty Sklar once said -
" Remember, the word 'trend' ends with 'END'."
Meaning, that current fads are not 'ever green' properties / ideas and will likely not stand the test of time long term.
You always want to find the property or concept that will stand on it's own for many years without the help of 'trends'.

As my favorite 'idea guy' famously stated some years ago -
" It's not the first ride, but the 20th ride that is the most important" - Tony Baxter

I couldn't afford a Disney lunch....

Diet Coke outside the Avengers ride?
How about I treat both of you to a nice Butterbeer? :)
Straighten out the kink across ROA and it'll be more like it. Sadly.

The more you look into this project and the more it's a Maelstrom x10 mistake.
14 acres for two major attractions in the park that wrote the book on extremely efficient use of what little space they had. Also,

"Here you leave Today and enter the world of Yesterday, Tomorrow, Fantasy, and Star Wars."

This guy right here. I like this guy. I'm not a whiz fan. Provolone til I die

I'll give you that. There seems to be two distinct camps here when it comes to Cheese on a steak, Wiz or Provolone.

You can get a 1/2 decent cheesesteak for Florida at that Soda Shop at the bottom of Swolfin (cant remember which one).... its not bad and its better than anything Disney has tried to make.

I will start this by saying this is very off topic and anyone can feel free to put it in another thread. I wanted to ask about cruises here because everyone says how great they are in Spirited threads. My husband and I want to see some islands (non zika), stay in a budget, and stay somewhere comfortable and clean. We are specific about avoiding zika because we want to have children soon. Would people recommend Disney cruises or another cruise line? What is pricing like and what is included? Can you bring food/alcohol? And how hard/easy is it to fly in for a cruise from the Northeast Boston area. I appreciate any feedback or a redirection of where this should go. I do have a weak stomach, but was told there are plenty of meds/bracelets, etc that will help with possible sea sickness.
The Disney Cruise Line section of the forums are an excellent source of information.

Although you are in the Disney bubble, mosquitoes still exist.

Prices are more than other cruise lines.

You will only see islands for a few hours.

Flights are easy, but I hate flying in/out/through Boston. Try Southwest out of Manchester if that is an option.

On the disney social media front - here's something amusing from the parks blog. They wrote a photo essay about Old Key West Resort, including this photo:

Take a look at the bottom. It looks like a 2 year old when crazy with the eraser brush! My question is: What were they trying to erase away? Chips in the paint? Stains on the couch?

A really bad try at making it look like seeing this in a dream cloud

I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. It could be just to add focus to the lamp. If they had stains or chipped paint they could easily take the photo in another room right?
