A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

The Tower at DCA didn't look anywhere near as good as the DHS version. You may not like the theme change, but it's very likely this will be a better looking version of the new theme than Tower was of the old theme.
I'm not one of the doom and gloom crowd that puts down everything Disney does but this just looks hideous to me. It's just a bad idea. I like Guardians and I think it could and should have a big place in the parks but this just doesn't work for me. I guess it's possible it will look better in real life than in the pictures. I hope so.

7.3 million. That's pretty darn close to the 25 million that Iger predicted.

Oh wait....

I think that was the goal for a two park build out. 25 million is literally impossible with the capacity limits on the park. 20 million is also impossible. 15 million would require daily park closures with today's theoretical capacity.

I have no idea where that 25 million number even came from (I'm sure someone will point me to it momentarily), but if it was Bob it was definitely mis-reported. For all his short-comings he doesn't irrationally throw out impossible to achieve numbers. As far as I know he/they wanted 10.

The Board should strongly consider blocking Bob from making any major acquisition in the last 21 months of his tenure. The greatest possible amount of friction needs to be used by the board to prevent Bob from starving new management of the resources that allowed him 10 years ago to buy Pixar. Only the best possible deal for the long term health of the company should be able to pass such muster.

I'd much rather Bob have one last go at an acquisition than stock buybacks. I think it's the one thing even his detractors know he is ok at. They won't just stockpile cash if he does nothing.

.@AwesomestBen The recent purchase is too far away. Plan is to extend Kirkman Road south into the largest block.

Regarding $DIS buying $NFLX:

Wasn't that The Weatherman's buddy Rich Greenfield from BTIG's idea?...

(Of course, Rich said part of the reason to do this deal was to install Reed Hastings as the new CEO)...

The Tower of Terror exit gift shop has seen its sales skyrocket since summer ended. Most days sales are running 300% ahead of their year-ago figures, and on days when there is heavy AP visitation in the park, like Friday evenings and Sundays, the sales figures have gone up by 500%. DCA’s retail team can’t keep the shelves stocked, and they have resorted to flying in merchandise stock from the Florida warehouse as their replenishment deliveries can’t keep up with demand.

How does that make sense? Tower in DCA has been a popular attraction since it opened. Now that it's going away fans are continuing to show support for it.

This was a short sighted decision from Disney to get Guardians into the park "quickly". They're decisions that result from shuffling your feet for too long and trying to make up ground.

They did the same thing with Frozen Ever After. They waited too long after Frozen's popularity was established to announce an attraction and they decided to go with the shoehorn treatment because in theory it was quicker. In the case of Frozen it still 21 months to open.

With Guardians they waited longer but have a shorter time period for the downtime. I suspect that Mission Breakout will be a solid attraction, but the best case scenario is that it's slightly better than Tower of Terror. The better option was to keep Tower and build a new ride.

Notice the BRAND advocates positively gushing about that ugly thing on the DPB, Heck the power station on Kneeland St in Boston looks better than that abomination. (Those familiar with Boston will understand, The rest take our word for it). I swear half those guys if Disney served them horse manure they would swear it's chocolate mousse and how delicious it was...

Excuse me while I have a bout of projectile vomiting because this thing is so ugly.:hungover::hungover::hungover:
If they need to retheme to a powerplant,
how about this one?

The NX reminds me so much of Rivers of Light.

After being a life long Nintendo fan, they have really worn nearly every ounce of care out of me. The Wii U has been an utter disappointment in almost every way, and nothing about the NX excites me whatsoever.

It feels like the offhand feedback they got about how much folks liked off-screen play and designed a whole system around it. They took the wrong lessons from the Wii U, it's pretty clear. I honestly can't think of anything they can announce at this point could change my feelings. Even if they wake up and start doing account wide download unlocks, etc.

I'll be buying Mario Color Splash this week - though even that irritates me, since some folks already have it downloaded due to a glitch that I missed out on. But I honestly feel as if this will be the last hurrah for me - I'm content with the last 30ish years of Mario and Zelda games to go back through when I get the itch.

That said, I do look forward to what Universal does with the IP, because, well, Universal.

Nice to put a face with a name. But given your screen name, I assumed you were a woman. Sorry!
Yes, I'm considering changing my name once Paddlefish opens and the Empress Lilly is restored. Once upon a time every WDW goer knew what the Empress Lilly was, but it is now slowly fading into history, like The Village or River Country.

Also, I should confess I was messing with AJH: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/a-spirited-dirty-dozen.913081/page-305#post-7426724
