A Spirited Dirty Dozen ...

IMO Everest for SDL makes little to no sense. Rapids treads similar territory with a different ride system, and I'm sure a big high capacity E ticket reflecting a hot IP would be a bigger hit for them. Surely they can cook up a Zootopia ride for China, where the film was an unbelievable success - but that would take some time.

Orlando got Liberty Square instead of New Orleans Square supposedly because Orlando's too close to the real thing (iirc - though we got Caribbean Plaza...). So, Everest in Shanghai?

We got PotC because of many complaints about "where are the Pirates." Western River Expedition was supposed to be our Pirates.

Notables:
  • No moving walkway or tram system to get guests from the new facility to the esplanade and back. The 1991 master plan for the Disneyland Resort, which featured a parking garage on this plot of land, had an elevated tram system. This decision is cheap, shortsighted and disrespectful to guests who will be paying $$$ to have the privilege to use this MAGICAL parking lot. One wonders if in making this decision, TDA will have to deal with rushes on Mickey and Friends because it will be the more convienent of the two garages.
  • As reported by MiceChat, Disney will be forced to built this project around the DHS office building whose lease won't be up for a number of years.
  • Bag check will be placed before the walkway to the esplanade

Parks Blog has said that there are no plans for PTN to come to WDW at this time, so unless they're being tricky (as they have been before) I guess WDW will be left without a night parade.
I hope they might make an announcement for a new electrical parade in a future D23 panel for parks and resorts.

2016 is showing that people want a quality movie when they go to the theaters. They aren't going to pay for crap anymore. Here's a chart (not my idea but I made it from scratch nonetheless) with US box office results compared to Rotten Tomatoes scores. The higher the score the more money the movie made for the most part. I only used movies with a budget of $100 million or more and none in the last 4 weeks.

Kung Fu Panda 3 scored high but releasing it in Jan/Feb was a mistake.

BvsS did better than the score indicates but this was due to the popularity of the two characters and both being in the same movie. This movie in the end did not live up to expectations for WB.

The BFG was a poorly named, poorly promoted movie that didn't live up to it's score. Might have done better in the fall .

I agree about the BFG. If you aren't familiar with the book (like me) you'd have no idea what it was. I'm. Not sure if even know it was out without reading here regularly.

I'm happy to see that they seem to be trying with Pete's Dragon. The reviews have been positive. And the ads aplenty.

It's so close, why would people need moving walkways or a tram? Freaking walk people.

Where would security be for folks walking in from Harbor (e.g. from one of the hotels along that street)?

And it frees up the old bus area for Dca use....

Nothing says catered to... Than having to walk around a parking garage... Then down... Then across another huge surface lot area... Then across another long city block... The across a road... And then still not there and down a long path... Then get in more lines...

Yeah people are going to be thinking MAGICAL after walking past all these different things and around every turn is yet another long distance to walk before they get to where they wanted to be.

Magical happens inside the gates... A parking garage is a parking garage.

The idea that every Disney employee is a cast member is just stupid and undermines the whole point of using the terminology in the first place. The accountants who work on a film or play don't get listed as part of the cast.
I sat all the way through the credits of Finding Dory to see the scene at the end, Disney credits EVERYONE. Caterers, accountants, anything you can think of lol
