Chatted up someone in line who is involved with ticketing and they agreed. Park is pretty much sold to slightly less than their projected theoretical capacity.

I found the crowds. They all are in Tron/Soarin/Rapids standby.

Regardless - it's quite pleasant and FP works for the big 3. The takeaway is get a Soarin FP first, go and do all of fantasyland next then head back.

A few other notes, everything is open, landscaping is finally in. I fell off keeping track but I hadn't seen tomorrow land landscaped at all and the hub still had issues. It needs to fill in over the next few months but at least it's planted.

Is it show ready? Yes. By the skin of their teeth? Abso-freaking-lutely. I'm happy with tree numbers but like all new parks it will look much better in 5-10 years.

So Rapids is open and working?

They've just been talking about Shanghai Disneyland opening on BBC Breakfast, and the reporter said that Bob Iger refused to have a sit down interview, and so asked him while he was walking something along the lines of "Has Shanghai Disneyland been built without corrupt practices?", to which he replied along the lines of "I don't want to talk about that."

(Edit: Mistakenly referred to ITV's Good Morning Britain instead of BBC's BBC Breakfast)

What does the media want him to say? "Yeah, we err, built Shanghai with..uh...corrupt practices and ..err...dirty money." Give me a break. Asking any CEO on the planet that question would be like talking to a tree. Not excusing Iger, just saying.

The SDL castle still doesn't look quite right to me...I think they tried to combine too many styles in one

Agreed however from the YouTube video I saw covering the Gala last night the lighting package and projector work they have on it is amazing! Was very impressed with that

If Iger actually had the ability to think on his feet, Iger should have said something along the lines of

'I refuse to dignify the lies and innuendo's spread by rumor mongers who wish to see this project tarnished'.

With what Iger said it gives credence to the possibility that corruption and graft were integral to the project

Iger is The Peter Principle personified.

Same here-I love it despite all its obvious flaws. I'm hoping that one day we get the complete cut of the film, with the missing 10-12 minutes reinstated. Fingers crossed.

The uncut version of Saludos Amigos is an extra on the Walt & El Grupo DVD, so it's not impossible that if someone makes a documentary one day about mid 80s Disney animation, or the history of mixing live action and animation, we may see uncut Black Cauldron and/or Song of the South released as extras, with historical context given and aimed at a historian audience rather than the general public.

Either that, or Disney partnering with Criterion to release some of their more divisive titles. Completely unlikely, but I can see that working very well.

Nice...!
:)

I really do like The Shanghai Parks version of 'Peter Pan's Flight' a lot.
The staging of the scenes is great ( exspecially the take off from the nursery ) and the added effects enhance the experience without being too obnoxious.

Hope you are enjoying yourself over there.
Interested in reading your thoughts on the Park as a whole.

I've been tied up with work the last few days; but, I would like to congratulate everyone on reaching an important milestone with the opening of Shanghai Disney.

We can now transition from "Shanghai is over budget" to "Shanghai is underperforming" as the de facto excuse for why quality keeps slipping.

It's been a long road to get here... but, we've finally made it and we can begin to speculate on what other excuses are in the pipeline.
