A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

Exactly.

I had a lot of faith that under Disney's stewardship they would have this all ironed out so perfectly, but between the things you mentioned - and the ongoing behind the scenes stuff going on - it's pretty clear that they just don't have a handle on anything - except for the marketing...
Kathy Kennedy can't handle this...I've been saying.

People act like she's running Lucasfilm. Incorrect...Lucasfilm was private...she's an upper mid studio manager in a public corporation that has 1.5 billion outstanding shares...which means they can only see ahead as far as 90 days and the executives calendars end at the date their year end bonus is dispersed...totally different than working for george or Stevie and it appears to be crushing her.

They'll scapegoat her at some point anyway...like if nobody goes to see Indy 5 and each stars wars makes 20% less...

What about the lightsaber fights? They needed Nick Gilliard in charge of these last two movies. Plus, the music was sub par for John Williams. Episode 1,2 and 3 have some of the best I’ve heard.

Solo will be her downfall if it flops. I’m hopeful Ron Howard can pull it out.

You just know the Spirit is going to LOVE what’s happened to this thread.

I always come into Spirit threads late. It’s always the same sequence:

1. Read Spirit’s post
2. See “Stay on topic” in the original post
3. Read a couple pages of comments that are on topic
4. Skip ahead a few pages, see a group of people having arguments over stuff that was nowhere in the original post.

I guess it’s too late to force (wink-wink, nudge-nudge) them to take it to PMs, but I suppose half the reason they don’t is so they can:

A) Have the last word in the public forum
B) Keep checking to see how many people liked their comments for fulfillment, and possibly tally up the winner at a later date

Spirit's initial posts are something of a formality at this point.
These threads have been the recognized, though still unofficial "general chat" threads on this site for a long while.

You wouldn’t have 90% of the comments if they stay on topic. Happy 2018. Maybe that can be the New Years resolution - stay on topic.

When you post random thoughts and disappear for months...that's what's gonna happen...it is what it is

While I agree that the music has little memorable qualities like most Williams...it's the scenes that make them memorable.

And so...the prequels are still crap and there you go...

As far as lightsaber battles...the prequels were crap too...

(I'm going "theme" with this)

I disagree because there's NO untold backstory of obiwan...how's that gonna play?

But I don't think anyone wanted a solo one either...

I think "big events" was the way to go...why rogue 1 mostly worked.

I hope they have some sort of interesting backstory for a guy that’s just a shady smuggler.
It seems to me like his life didn’t get interesting until he got caught up with the rebels. And obviously we know that story. Maybe the climax is that famous Kessel Run record?

On a side note, I LOVED Rogue One. Like you said, basing it on an event worked to perfection IMO.

That is one of the more irritating things about the prequel trilogy- they all had fantastic scores written for them, Phantom Menace in particular ranks right up there with the original 3.
It's very difficult to imagine the soundtracks for the last two movies standing the test of time- ie. being performed by pops orchestras and the like, save for the occasional high school marching band.

I have a hard time with that since they are little psychic buddies now and she "searched inside" for it to be true.

But they either go one of two ways with the last film - either they go back to what TFA set forth and ignore this part of TLJ, or they go along with this new "direction".

Apropos, I was looking at something today and found this quote from JJ Abrams after TFA - this kind of entirely puts to rest the whole claim that "Oh, they did nothing to encourage people to care who Rey's parents were!" There is a mountain of evidence to this, but this one quote pretty much sums it up:

"We're going to make sure that the answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying. Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of TFA, but in the entire galaxy. She deserves it. We'll make sure that the answer is something that feels like it happened a long time ago, far away, and we're just telling you what happened."

Now, can anyone, even the most ardent defenders of the film, say that this criteria was met by TLJ? Was it "profoundly and deeply satisfying"?
It makes me think it was probably on purpose. So they can milk more movies, cartoons, series and even comics.

Why don't they just build another Death Star while they're at it?
Considering how many times they have redone super weapons. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the "doomsday" machines or certain weapons of ridiculous power.

Go back and read the post he was responding to. It's not just about her familiarity with a ship. It's one of many things that entire scenes are built around in TFA that show that Rey has some missing chunk in her mind that she is now starting to access. It was a response to the statement that "TFA didn't set up anything about" Rey's origins, so therefore we shouldn't have expected anything in TLJ.
It almost feels like they cut so many scenes (like the training, figuring out how things work..etc..)

Yes, Disney seems nervous about this one. Obi-Wan might have been a better choice.

Especially since they already had an actor who is accepted by fans in the role and has expressed his willingness to return (in fact, he did some VO work for TFA).

Recasting one of the very most iconic characters of the OT with some pretty boy, who doesn't even really resemble the original actor in face or stature, was a huge gamble - especially given how close we are on the heels of him being killed off in the main series. I think they got a little too over-confident after TFA in thinking it was a good idea.

Put yourself back to seeing the original movies. The Emperor is this powerful being. Who is he? Where did he come from? How did he aquire his powers? Still pondering the answers as you watch THE FINAL FILM OF THE TRILOGY...Uhh....wait....Vader is lifting the Emperor over his head and pitching him over the rail to his death. Welp....guess we will never find out. What terrible storytelling!

....Patience young padawan. This os only the second movie of this trilogy. Books, stand-alone films, video games, etc will be pumped out for years to come. The backstory will be told in full detail. You just need to wait.
but.. he's dead.. are we goig to get sith force ghost flashbacks?
