Kathleen Kennedy thinks Spaceballs IS the original Star Wars. Follow me here:

Has there ever been a ship in the Star Wars universe that has run out of gas...before TLJ? Sound familiar? The Eagle 5 from Spaceballs ran out of gas, it was part of the plot, they needed to get to Druidia........just like it was in TLJ - they needed to get to Crete)

The antagonist (Kylo Ren) a Darth Vader wannabe keeps taking off his helmet to get face time.........much like Dark Helmet in Spaceballs.

Both of these antagonists have a commander of their ship that is incompetent - Hux in SW and Colonel Sanders in Spaceballs.

Rey is "force" sensitive and does not know who her parents are......Lonestar in Spaceballs is "schwartz" sensitive and also is unsure of his parents.

L3 37 is Dot Matrix.
YES!

So, are you part of the Anti-Trekker "community" as well?

I'm an anti-trekker....there's only trekkies, not trekkers

I'm a trekkie
Hah, it's the guy's youtube name. But, I hear ya! I never understood the Trekker v Trekkie thing. I always considered "Trekkie" to be the term...but, apparently there are some who are really firm about being called "Trekkers"... (shrug)

Lobot's story in the Star Wars universe had been a mystery for a long time before the Lando comic series came out in 2015. And to a certain extent, so had the story of Lando Calrissian. But, Solo: A Star Wars Story has shed some more light into the life of Lando, which highlights his pansexual and fluid lifestyle in certain scenes. Donald Glover, who plays the young Lando, along with screenwriters Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan have confirmed this aspect of Lando's personality, which brings up the question of whether or not he and Lobot were lovers in The Empire Strikes Back.

That's an appeal to authority I can respect. Trekkie it is!

Do you happen to know WHEN he said that? I'd love to bookmark that link for random discussion purposes...

per wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trekkie

The issue is also shown in the film Trekkies 2, in which a Star Trek fan recounts a supposed incident during a Star Trek convention where Gene Roddenberry used the term "trekkies" to describe fans of the show, only to be corrected by a fan that stood up and yelled "Trekkers!" Gene Roddenberry responded with "No, it's 'Trekkies.' I should know — I invented the thing."

Careful. If you criticize this you’ll be labeled as closed minded and a bigot and whatever else. You’ll probably also get called out for being a cis gendered white male and to “check your privilege.”

So, should I show my Cherokee Citizenship card and then tell them to go back to Europe?

In this day and age of the ascendancy of the nerd/geek and the overwhelming popularity of their cultural touchstones, why would any Trekkie not be proud of that nomenclature? It's not like you're going to be made a social pariah for being into a billion dollar franchise.

My understanding is that the issue is with "-ie" versus "-er".

"Trekkie" arguably sounds diminutive, "Trekker" more robust.

Personally, I have never called myself either. I'm just a plain old "Star Trek fan".

Solo should have never been greenlit in the first place. I'm one of the biggest Star Wars fanboys there is and I loved The Last Jedi, ranking it fourth after Empire, New Hope, and Force Awakens. But from day one, long before TLJ, nobody WANTED a young Han Solo movie. Fans have been clamoring for The Old Republic for ten years but for some reason Disney is terrified to expand the timeline more than 50 years before or after the Battle of Yavin.
I’m with you on the desire for KotOR movies and I don’t understand why they didn’t go in that direction instead. I’m guessing it’s because Solo is what Kasdan wanted to write (but again, I’m definitely just guessing). I also loved TLJ. Having said all that, and while I was always going to see Solo, I wasn’t Star Wars excited for the the movie until the first real trailer came out. And now having seen the movie, I definitely want more adventures with this crew.

I thought the movie was really fun, and I got a kick out of all the Easter eggs (did you see all the artifacts from the Indy movies they snuck in!) and call backs. My screening had the audience laughing and cheering the whole time. I’m just worried that the poor box office (to date anyway) will mean that we don’t get to see any more of Chewy and Han together for the foreseeable future. Kasdan has expressed interest in writing a Lando movie which after seeing Solo I’m actually on board with because I think Donald Glover really nailed the role in this movie. But for the love of Pete, can we please explore the Old Republic at some point in the near future?

So, gosh, it's really nice that Iger, Disney, and ABC continue to employee Roseanne. Great look for the company that touts tolerance, diversity, and uplifting magical dreams.
