A Spirited 15 Rounds ...

Certainly got me at first, because they have it completely down pat. Like, artfully so. I hear that crud day in and day out and I could not distinguish it from the "real" thing.
I tip my hat to you @englanddg.
She's the Harold Hill of feminism and Zoe Quinn isn't much better.

Lol i disagreed with the whole biology thing but the whole other conversation i was like wow...if this is real...

It was so convincing i wasnt sure. The hillary response tipped me off but dang...that was good :p
I still think there should be a discussion questioning how evolved we really are if stuff like this keeps happening no matter how much the behavior is damned by most of society. I still think it’s telling how many, including experts, describe the behavior as predatory.

The word predator is used in two contexts, to describe animals and humans in different ways due to our capacity for higher level critical thinking. I've studied behavior and the brain for the last several years in a cognitive neurobiology lab, so I'm not talking out of my rear on this. The research just isn't there to be making those kind of claims, and our environment plays a definitive role in our behavior. Not going to get into it much again (though it is a good convo to have)

The reality is in modern society, for someone to prey upon another without consent, is pretty far off.

If an individual decides to delude themselves into believing whatever they believe, and later regrets it...that isn't a crime.

But, this is the same philosophy that people use to say that capitalism takes advantage of them...because, well, Walmart FORCES them to shop there.

The topic drifted from at least why I got involved in the first place. Last post on this for me to sum my position.

- There are sections of society (Hollywood, Washington, etc) where sexual misconduct have been rampant and kept under wraps for decades.
- Both men and women are capable of committing such acts.
- Why do people act this way? I don't think we have a definitive answer. If we don't want to get too far into it, we can say...some people are just sick human beings, bring them to justice, and move on with our lives.
- Good on the victims having the courage to speak out against it and now have an audience for it.
- There are serious victims out there. Is it as rampant to extents that some would lead you to believe, not really. And yes, some people may take advantage of this newfound audience to push their own agendas, so we need to be cognizant of that and take each instance on a case by case basis.
- I'd be for getting back to Disney talk now;)

In some cases especially in 'flyover' country after driving out the existing retail/grocery outlets the 'supercenter' is the only store in a 100 mile radius. So in a way one IS forced to shop there.

THEN POST ABOUT THOSE THINGS!

Cripes. Given how even The Mom has been participating in this discussion, I think it's fair game.

This is ONE thread. There are hundreds of other active threads on this site, too.

Everyone else doesn't exist to provide you with content. If you don't like this specific content, you can contribute your own to change its direction, or peruse the other content out there.

You forget that one must not criticize their god Disney. I stopped worshipping at the Church of Iger years ago.

Aside from the Klingon speech being so muffled, I love it, but surprisingly i like the Orville a lot more than I thought I would.
I made fun of the Orville when the ads started running initially. I was so wrong. It's basically TNG but with occasional jokes in there. I was expecting crap Family Guy humor but I got something much better (okay, some of the jokes are bad but not Family Guy bad). STD on the other hand is starting to settle into feeling Star Trek finally. I wouldn't say it's worth the subscription to CBS's service though. Maybe the other half of season 1 will change my mind on it.

I don't think any of them will dethrone TNG for me, but Orville is a great stand in and STD is trying some new stuff.

Is it sad that Disneyland Paris has started to get better shows including the seasonal ones? Meanwhile WDW had been keeping the same Halloween and Christmas parades for over 10 years now.

WDW attendance is starting to show the staleness its down what 3% in an improving economy!!!! Where logically one would expect more guests not less.

The inflection point ive talked about may have finally come for WDW if the attendance declines accelerate we will be sure it has arrived.

WDW is starting to feel the "we announced something huge, and people are postponing until SW:GE opens". 2018/early 2019 is going to be a weird period.

It's the proverbial "calm before the storm".
