A First Timer's December 2010 Trip Report

After reading others trip reports and enjoying looking at all the wonderful pictures i have decided to write my own trip report. I am fairly new to Disney and took my first trip this past December with my boyfriend and our 3 year old son. We had started planning for this trip in 2008 and came across WDW magic which helped in all of my planning.

Making the trip happen was a lot of hard work. My boyfriend is a franchisse of a convenience store where i work as well. Even though we can set our own schedule we had to line up reliable and trustworthy staff and find someone to take care of things while we were gone so we would know things were taken care of and we wouldn't have to worry too much while on vacation. This was only our second vacation away from the store since we started with the store in 2003. So we were due!

My boyfriend let me do all the planning. I decided on everything we did and where we ate. I had to check out all the menues for the restaurants because my boyfriend is a very picky eater as well he is a complainer. I wanted him to have a good time and not find anything to complain about. I chose the first week of December so we could see all the Christmas decorations and i read the crowds were low at this time. I chose All Star Movies because my son is a huge Toy Story fan and i knew he would enjoy seeing the larger then life Buzz and Woody.We got the free quick service dining plan but i upgraded to the regular dining plan so we could do some character meals

Now if someone could help me out and explain how to post pictures on here i will be all set.

Day 5 Downtown Disney/MVMCP

We got to the Maic Kingdom around 4:30. I am so glad they will let you in early before the party. It ave us some time to do some rides. We noticed the Castle show was oing on so we stopped to watch because we never got to see it the other day. I loved it!

We then headed to Tomorrowland and did Buzz, Monsters Inc and the People Mover. Cohen loved the People Mover so Chris kept taking him on it. i went to check out Carraseul of Progress. I loved it and the music. I told Chris about it but he never got a chance to see it this trip. I wanted to go stake out a spot for the Christmas parade but Cohen wanted to do Buzz and People Mover again. So after a few rides with no wait times we headed out to find a spot for the parade. Main Street was packed . We just stayed around the Hub and this nice couple in front of let Cohen go in front of them so he could see better. He missed us though and came back so we took turns holding him so he could see.

Day 5 Downtown Disney/MVMCP

I took a lot of pictures of the parade but most of them didn't turn out. I didn't know how to adjust the settings on the camera.

My favorite part of the parade was the gingerbread men and the marching soldiers.

After the parade we thought we would do some more rides. Thats when Cohen discovered The Magic Carpets. We must have done this ride 5 or 6 times in a row. We just couldn't get him away from them.

It was also very cold out. At the beginning of the trip we were laughing at how people were wearing gloves and hats when the weather seemed beautiful to us. Now it felt like we were back home minus the snow of course and i had to run to a kiosk and buy Cohen a pair of mittens and a hat to keep him warm. After the carpets we headed out to watch the fireworks.Then we headed out to go back to the resort.

Glad you guys still got your pic taken with Buzz & Woody after you waited that long!

We thought too if he saw us getting our picure taken with them that he might change his mind. It didn't work. But i'm glad we got our pictures taken with them too.

Such a great report! For a first-timer you got a lot of great reservations. Donald's Safari Breakfast is a favorite of my family, too. Looooved the shy picture of Cohen when you and your bf got pics w/Buzz & Woody. That was just adorable. He's such a little cutie!

I wanted to do as many character meals as i could. I knew Cohen wouldn't like waiting in a long line at the parks and i didn't know when we would get back again.

Fantastic! Can't get enough. Cohen is just such a happy little guy. I love seeing his expressions!

Isn't the Christmas parade awesome?! I looooved it! I thought everything was just so well done and each element knocked my socks off. It's hard to pick out a favorite. I had always wanted to see the toy soldiers so that was a big deal to me. Glad y'all liked it, too.

You're totally knocking your first trip report out of the ballpark. Way to go! Anxiously waiting for more....

Day 6 Magic Kingdom

I'm glad we decided on 2 days at Magic Kingdom. The first day we only did Fantasyland so the second day gave us a chance to check out the rest of the park. It was really cold this day. We went to Adventureland and Frontierland first.

I really wanted to do Splash Mountain but it was way too cold. I don't even know if it was open anyways because i didn't see anyone on the ride.

And of course we couldn't pass by The Magic Carpets.

Day 6 Magic Kingdom

After we had some lunch we headed back over to Tomorrowland. We didn't get to do Astro Orbiter when we were there for the party and Cohen really wanted to go on it. We had a 30 minute wait and when we got to the top it was freezing. I couldn't wait to get it over with. i'm glad it was a short ride. Then we did the People Mover a last time.

We headed out of the park after a quick bite to eat . We were off to the Contemporary Resort for our Reservations for The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage.

Day 6 Magic Kingdom

Now I booked The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage because i thought it was the only way we were going to see the fireworks. Plus it looked like a lot of fun. Chris really didn't want to do it so he was really cranky. We checked in early and we got these cool bandanas to wear. The guy told us that they had lots of blankets to keep us warm on the boat. Well Chris got his wish and they cancelled due to the cold weather. I was a little disappointed. They still opened up the area to have snacks and drinks and picture opportunities with some characters. Plus they gave us a full refund.

We didn't wantto go back to the resort because it was fairly early so we decided to go back downtown one more time. The plan was that afterwards Chris was going to take Cohen back to the resort and i was going to go back to magic Kingdom for evening EMH so i could ride Big Thunder and Space Mountain. But it was just too cold so i didn't end up going back.

Waiting for the Downtown Disney bus to come.

We went in to Ride Makerz just to check it out and to get out of the cold for awhile.

Awesome report! Cohen is adorable! We were there the same time as you! We checked in on 12/3. The weather was great until Monday the 6th for us... After that is was all down hill... We pretty much froze our butts off for the rest of the trip! :ROFLOL:

Wow great report!! You sure got some great reservations!! I had not even heard of the Pirates and Pals fireworks voyagage...or maybe I have but never looked into it!

Sorry about your first night and not feeling good. Thank goodness the rest of the trip was great!!

That picture of the Mad Tea Party with '0' as the wait time is very rare!!

I liked the pictures from All Star Movies. I bet my boys would love the larger than life characters!

I love the report so far! It seems like you guys had a really amazing first trip! :sohappy: I love that Cohen was excited about the characters talking at the playhouse Disney show. That is just too cute!
