A Few Magic Kingdom notes

The reasoning being discussed for Space's cue doesn't make sense to me.

Why wouldn't the left side be used for standby solely, with the right side being used for fastpass? I thought that was how it was done... It's always seemed to be that way when I've been there. There doesn't HAVE to be a "merge point" that way. Two tracks, two separate uses.

Thats pretty much what I have seen, except when the FP line clears out they run standby to the right also until more FP's show up. Then of course the FP's get priority on the right.

Ok now unless things have drastically changed in the past 9 months I am confused.

The only time I have not seen the switchbacks used is when the lines are really short. The left side is typically used for standby, and the right for FP & standby. Single rides just enter through FP entrance. Things may change, but this is how it has been everytime I have been there over the past few years.

Why are the lights on the castle already? I can't believe they didn't wait till late Oct to put them up, unles something is going on where they need them lit.

I don't know why but the Oct. 3rd & 4th hoopla just came to mind.

^If only we knew what this darn hoopla was for! For all the collateral damage associated with these dates, this hoopla had better be the hoopla to end all hooplas.

Can anyone else confirm about the lights on the castle, it seems way to early?? And if they are for something else what??

IF they're filming the hoopla for the Miley Cyrus Sweet Sixteen party and broadcasting it on her birthday, Nov. 23, it would make sense that they would have the castle lit up to make it look like it was being broadcast live. :)

They haven't used the loading area switchbacks for years. And FastPass is to blame. In order for FastPass to work properly, FP holders need to be inserted near the front of the line. At Space Mountain, the merge point is at the front of the hallway section.
If they were to keep the merge point in the same spot, then the FP users would have to wait through the entire switchback section.
If they tried to use the switchbacks for only Standby, they would need to find a way to get the FastPass users around/through the Standby guests. There isn't really a viable way of doing this in its current configuration. I'm hoping that in the rumored refurbishment next year they find a way of using the whole interior space for both Standby and FastPass.

I was there during July and they used the switchbacks and we entering the fast passers toward the front of them. They opened one of the gates and just let them in there.

Yeah Exactly, I noticed that when I rode Space Mountain last week and one station was for the standby and the other was for the Fastpass, which I felt made the wait longer.
