A Few Magic Kingdom notes

Anyway, the Space Mountain queue has been a source of annoyance for me for years. Space Mountain is one of the most major attractions Disney has, and it has one of the most pathetic queues now. I used to LOVE waiting in the Space Mountain queue and watching those corny space segments on the televisions under the shooting stars. Now they took the TV's away and they don't even let people use those queues. I don't understand why they can't fill them? It's so much nicer waiting up in the mountain under the stars instead of in the tunnel.

 Wait there's more queue than just the tunnels??? Wow I feel stupid and have been going to WDW SM for years and have always been in just the tunnels! I remember the corny space segments on the TV's, but where is queue I've missed

They're talking about the switchback queue in the load area, it's nothing hidden, they just don't use it often anymore. It's where the TVs used to be.

Wow, it is pretty early for the castle lights to be put up. I find it kind of weird, wonder what the true reason is for them being up so early.

Last year it was like the second week of November when the lights went up. They were up in less than a week.

Since they are up so early, lets hope they can have them turning Halloween colors for the parties.

I kinda feel like that would be oversaturation....too much of a good thing. The lights are great at Christmas...maybe ok for Halloween...next thing you know they'll be up all year. We already have LED Spots to change the color of the castle to any color imaginable...why would we also need mini lights on it changing color? I prefer the LED Spots effect over mini lights.

Plus...how bout they perfect the Christmas Dream Lights before they move on to another holiday...I dunno about you guys but I thought the lights looked kind of tacky on the main spire where they stopped halfway done the tower...AND that the lights only went halfway around the sides. Not to mention how the fade-in, fade-out effect seemed to not be programmed right!

Think of it like the Hard Ticket Parties...Halloween Party is great! Xmas Party is alright...Pirate Party is pretty unneccessary....

no worries, I hear that we've seen the end of P&P anyways

But it's a very good point you bring up- there is definitely such thing as too much of a good thing...... I don't really want lights suddenly popping up for each holiday....V-day, St. Pattys...? I think that them wanting to use the crane for both at once is probably the most plausible and sensible reason.

I think it was a miracle they worked the 1st night!I remember there was talk of that because DLP's failed on multiple occasions. And besides...The lights looked fine-at least to me.:o

don't get me wrong. I think the lights were beautiful! And it made a great backdrop for christmas photos! But I didn't like how with the fading effect that the roof of the main tower would be completely bright along with the lower part of the tower but the middle part would be dimmed.

I think they could have (and will) do alot more with the fading effect!

The problem with some light shows like this is how hard and complex the installation is. This lighting system is a grid, that makes most of the light work together, just like Xmas grid lights. Now there is so much more technology out there with LED's, like playing videos and other lighting applications.

Now i would love to see some video projections on the castle just like they do on DL and DLP and not just gobo projections been used now.

Just got a picture message from my friend at the MK of the castle lights. To me they looked a little orange but he said they had a tan/gold/bronze color. I'm hoping for orange since I'm going down 2 months from today for my honeymoon and we are going to MNSSHP.

Low Resolution but you get the idea:

By the way, I told him to stay dry with the impending tropical storm, to which he replied "Let it rain, less lines." Now that's the Disney spirit.
